Ever since we had our first glimpses of her in the Superman & Lois trailer, people thought that the actress playing Clark’s adoptive mother Martha Kent looked familiar. While some Twitter buzz pointed toward it being actress Jill Teed, who herself has a Super-past having played Maggie Sawyer on Smallville, the identity of the actress playing Martha Kent seems to have been confirmed in an Entertainment Weekly review of the pilot.
That review identifies the actress as Michele Scarabelli, who is certainly a familiar face due to her long history in genre television. Her early genre cred includes Airwolf and Alien Nation and a memorable episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation as Lt. Jenna D’Sora. She’s done a few Hallmark Channel movies in recent years, many of which are usually shot in Vancouver which would also lend credence to the possibility that she is Martha. For viewers of The CW, Scarabelli appeared as “Dr. Richards” in the Supernatural episode “Safe House.”
The series premiere of Superman & Lois airs Tuesday, February 23 on The CW.
