Report: Nicholas Hoult Is Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy

Deadline is reporting that Lex Luthor has been found for the upcoming Superman: Legacy film from director/producer James Gunn – and it’s Nicholas Hoult.

Hoult had long been rumored as being an actor that was considered for a role in the project, and now, apparently it’s true. This isn’t his first comic book inspired role – he was previously The Beast in a few X-Men films – but this is certainly bound to be his largest one. Hoult has some big bald caps to fill – previous Luthors have included such great actors as Gene Hackman, Michael Rosenbaum, and Jon Cryer.

Superman: Legacy is scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. The film will star David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.
