A lot of people were talking about today’s elections being among the most important that we will see in our lives… and there’s one that many have forgotten about, in the fictional world of Smallville.
Smallville apparently worked on a different time schedule than the rest of the world, because in that world, the President of the United States was elected in 2018 in that universe, as seen on a news screen in “Finale, Part 2” which aired on May 13, 2011.
Does this mean that the flashforwards in “Finale, Part 2” happened on Election Day, that the final moments of the Smallville TV series happened today — November 6, 2018? Lois and Clark on the steps? The shirt rip? Chloe on the phone, conveniently with us unable to see her ankle monitor? It all happened there.
Or did it?
The news broadcast says “Luthor Elected President” but they also say he’s unveiling his new economic plan, which we’d think wouldn’t be something he’d announce on Election Day. It’s also daytime, which should mean election results had already come in, unless they were too close to call like 2000 in the real world.
In any event, if it didn’t happen today, it’s happening soon. A rich businessman with daddy issues will be holding office as the President of the United States. Good thing it’s fiction, right?
