Krypton Casts Brainiac

Talk about burying the lede!

Deadline today revealed two more actors who will be appearing in Syfy’s upcoming Superman family prequel drama Krypton — and one of those two roles is Brainiac!

Blake Ritson (DaVinci’s Demons) will be a series regular on Krypton as Brainiac, and here’s how the character is described:

A parasitic, hyper-advanced alien android of immense intelligence, Brainiac is one of Superman’s oldest and most dangerous foes.

Paula Malcomson (Ray Donovan) will also be appearing in the “pivotal guest-starring role” of Charys, matriarch of the House of El. Here’s that character description:

Charys helps her son Seg navigate the treacherous pitfalls of Kandor City, their Kryptonian home embattled with oppression and revolt. The role has been recast after the pilot.

Brainiac has appeared in live action before as played by James Marsters on Smallville. A female counterpart of Brainiac’s, Indigo, appeared in Supergirl Season 1 as played by Laura Vandervoort.

Krypton is expected to premiere in 2018 on the Syfy cable network.
