Superman Is Coming To Supergirl In Season 2

Superman will be appearing on Supergirl in the first two episodes of Season 2 on The CW.

Remember how Superman was only seen via computer text messages and maybe in shadow or just his boots in Season 1?

That’s going to change in Supergirl Season 2, premiering this Fall on The CW.

Screen Shot 2015-10-04 at 10.44.35 AMKryptonSite has learned that the iconic character of Superman will first be seen visiting his cousin Kara in National City at the beginning of the series’ second season, and the producers are currently in the casting process for this role.

“Greg, Ali and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl,” Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement. “Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”

Now, who should play Superman? Offer your thoughts in the comments section below! Just remember before you do, the last guy to play Superman on The CW seemed allergic to wearing costumes, so he might not be too likely…

It was so stupid not allowing him on that show to begin with. The public is smart enough to know Superman is a comic book icon and can handle more than one person playing the part.

Out of everyone who’s played superman, I say Henry Cavill was been the best. He should play superman on supergirl.

I would like to see Tom Welling do it, but I don’t think its likely. It needs to be someone a little older than Supergirl so I would hope its a good actor, one who fits the role. Armie Hammer had been up for the movies, so I think he would be a good choice as well.

    TYLER HOECHLIN!

I mean I love Tom Welling and he was great as Clark Kent for 10 years, but no matter how big of a Smallville fan I am I think that Supergirl deserves to stay fresh so why not have a new actor play Clark? I think Tyler HOECHLIN definitely has the right look to be Clark and is a talented actor who would do great in the role.

Just saw a picture of Tyler with Clark style glasses on. Yes, he could easly pass as either Clark or Superman. Although I would like to see Tom in the suit, Tyler would be a great choice!!!!

Superman must be in the mega-crossover. I think it’s Superman in the Kryptonian pod as he could be from another universe. I hope Tom Welling plays him and Henry Cavill is tied to Justice League. I wonder if Superman will get a spin-off show from Supergirl.

Superman already had a ten-year show on The CW…. I’d rather they focus on Supergirl.

I understand why you feel that way, but anything involving more Superman on our screens and in our lives is great in my opinion. Since multiple earths have been introduced on the Flash, it’s a total possibility that Tom Welling could appear on Supergirl as Superman. He could be on the ship that landed in the season finale and Kara could explain to him about there being multiple earths. Heck, it wouldn’t even be that hard since alternate universes were also used on Smallville. If it’s not Tom, my next choice is the erstwhile Superman, Brandon Routh. Since we’ve already seen previous Superman actors playing different roles in this universe it would make sense. However, since he may be tied up playing Ray Palmer, it may not be a possibility. I would also not mind someone of James Marsden’s caliber or someone like Adam Gregory. It’s hard because there aren’t very many 6 foot tall, black-haired, blue-eyed, chiseled-jawed actors out there, but TOM has my approval ALL THE WAY!!!

I would prefer someone new to play Superman.

Though a part of me wants Superman to be played by Brandon Routh only so Kara can say “you look familiar” when she meets Ray Palmer in the crossover.

Tom welling. We watched your show for 10 years and the anti climax was palpable and throughly annoying. Please give us what we deserve for supporting you for so long. Tom Welling is the only choice for a TV based Superman. I, among plenty of others will start watching this show every week without fail as I feel it would gain a greater feeling of completeness. Please please please make it so!

No Welling. No Cavill. And as much as I’d like to see it, I’m not optimistic on Routh reprising the role, either.

You have two former SUPERMAN actors on the CW now in Cain and Routh. Look for both and Welling to pop up on LEGENDS or their version of Crises.

I still want Welling as Ray Palmer’s brother Sidney. No interest in him playing Superman since he wouldn’t put on a costume for his own show.

With Supergirl moving to the CW I hope one of my favorite characters ‘the Martian Manhunter’ will show up on Legends of Tomorrow. I really don’t care who plays Superman, I’m sure they will cast someone new that is good.

If Welling is not willing to wear a suit, there’s nothing they can do about it.

New Supergirl Featurette Includes Laura Vandervoort, Melissa Benoist & More

Supergirl actresses Laura Vandervoort, Melissa Benoist, Sasha Calle, and Helen Slater are included in a retrospective featurette on The Flash Blu-ray.

Published

on

One of the rare good elements from the recent Flash movie was the inclusion of Sasha Calle as Supergirl, and now, we can revisit her and a few old Supergirl favorites, as Laura Vandervoort (Smallville), Melissa Benoist (Supergirl TV series from The CW & CBS), and Helen Slater (movies’ original Supergirl) are all included on a featurette on The Flash movie home release. These are all new interviews with the actresses, and in some cases, these are their first interviews about the character in years. The title of the featurette is “Supergirl: The Last Daughter of Krypton.”

Although a Twitter/X report from “Sennaverse” on Twitter notes that the documentary can be found on the MAX streaming service, we have had no luck finding it there so far. The featurette is included, however, with purchase of The Flash movie on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD. The set is due for release on Tuesday, August 29. You can purchase that here and support KryptonSite if you wish!

We’re looking forward to seeing these new interviews and spotlight on the Woman of Tomorrow!

New Superman & Supergirl Movies Announced

James Gunn and Peter Safran have announced new Supergirl and Superman movie projects.

Published

on

New DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran have announced two new movies that will make Super-fans take notice. One is a new Superman film titled Superman: Legacy and it will be out in 2025; the other is based on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic book series.

Scheduled for July 11, 2025, Superman: Legacy will be written by James Gunn and the hope is that he will also direct it. “t’s not an origin story. It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. Superman represents truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old fashioned,” Peter Safran said during the announcement.

“With our stories, we want to take it away from good guy vs. bad guy. There are really good—almost saintly—people and Superman is among them. There are really terrible villains like Gorilla Grodd or the Joker. And then there’s everybody in between them, so there are all these shades of gray which allow us to tell complex stories,” Gunn added.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is based on the comic book miniseries by Tom King. “In our story, we have Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by incredibly loving parents. Kara was on Krypton. She was on a piece of Krypton that drifted away from the planet and she lived there for the first fourteen years of her life in a horrible situation where she watched everyone around her die. So, she’s a much harsher and more f*cked up Supergirl than you’ve been used to thus far,” Gunn promises.

No word yet on if the movie projects will affect TV, but they have expressed a desire to fully tie in the TV and the movies. See DC Studios’ TV plans here.

Nicole Maines Is Introducing Dreamer To Superman: Son of Kal-El

Supergirl actress Nicole Maines is introducing Dreamer in a Superman: Son of Kal-El comic book she is writing

Published

The Supergirl character of Nia Nal a.k.a. “Dreamer” has appeared in a DC Pride comic before, but now she is coming to the DC Universe proper with a special upcoming issue of the acclaimed Superman: Son of Kal-El comic book with a particularly special co-writer: Nicole Maines herself!

Maines will be co-writing Superman: Son of Kal-El #13 with series writer Tom Taylor. The issue hits comic book stores on July 12, 2022.

“I’m so excited to work with Nicole Maines to bring Dreamer from the screen to the pages of Superman: Son of Kal-El and to the DC Comics Universe,” said Tom Taylor. “I want to thank all the people at DC who have championed Dreamer and who recognize the importance of this powerful trans superhero in this time.”

“Jon Kent and Nia Nal are two characters that have a lot in common, both as superheroes with the weight of the world on their shoulders, and as young people with impossibly big shoes to fill,” Nicole Maines added. “Weaving their stories together for Superman: Son of Kal-El with Tom was a complete pleasure, and there is only a little pun intended when I say that Superman and Dreamer make for a brilliant new Dream-Team.”

Here’s a teaser for the issue:

It’s the dramatic DC Universe debut of Dreamer! When every hero on Earth is threatened by Henry Bendix’s machinations, it’s a race against time for Dreamer to warn Superman before it happens! But will this mysterious new ally’s premonition become a nightmare for Jonathan Kent?

Superman: Son of Kal-El #13 will be available at local comic shops on July 12, 2022.
