cassidy freemanInterview: Cassidy Freeman Talks Smallville's 200th, Costumes, And Bringing Back The Word "Rad"

Interview by Craig Byrne

At the Smallville 200th Episode Red Carpet on September 25, KryptonSite and several other media outlets spoke with members of the show's cast and crew for exclusive interviews.

We've been posting interviews here on KryptonSite for the past few weeks (you can find them from the News page), and this week specifically, we will be rolling out even more interviews about the show's 200th episode, which airs Friday, October 15 on The CW.

Today's interview is with one of Smallville's best additions of recent years - Cassidy Freeman. Prior to doing this interview Cassidy was talking about the word "rad" as well as the costume that Lindsay Hartley will be wearing in the upcoming episode "Abandoned;" so if those questions came from out of nowhere, that should explain it!

Please do not repost this interview on other websites; instead just link directly to it. Thanks! The 200th episode of Smallville airs Friday, October 15 at 8PM on The CW. Questions to Cassidy Freeman are printed in bold; answers are not.

What are you allowed to say about the 200th episode?

I'm not in it, so I don't know all that much. [laughs] I'm not in it because a lot of it has to do with the past, and pulling together a lot of stuff. I know that Jeannot directed it, so it's going to be fabulous. Jeannot is amazing.

You were talking about the crazy outfit that Lindsay Hartley is wearing in an upcoming episode. What do you make of what Lois is wearing in "Isis?"

Lois often gets taken over by different energies, so Erica has to wear a million different things. And it's a good thing that she's built like a perfect woman, because she's unstoppable. She can do anything.

Do you ever get jealous that you don't get those outfits, except for in "Checkmate?"

"Checkmate," I actually really loved my outfit. I'm not jealous. I'm okay with knowing what's coming down the pipeline.

Since we've all seen Little Lex throwing the knight in the fire in "Lazarus," are you worried about the dark side that might be inside of him?

I think right now, Tess is not worried. She thinks that she can try to fix it. I don't know what's going to happen in the future with it. But I think she has all the hope in the world that with enough love and mothering, that she can turn him into something that is really good.

Were you a fan of Smallville before you got the role?

I wasn't. I was a fan of comic books. My brothers were big comic book fans. But I wasn't, and so when I got the job, I went back and watched all of the previous seven seasons.

Would you consider Tess Mercer to be "rad?"

Tess Mercer is super rad. She's so rad. Yeah. She's rad.

Don't miss Smallville Friday Nights on The CW!
Episode #200 airs on October 15!
