Smallville Season 11 Comics Will Be Canon

Marc Guggenheim has confirmed the Smalvlille comics are canon, and Clark and Lois have repurchased the Kent Farm.

One question that has come up since the announcement of Smallville actors Tom Welling and Erica Durance appearing in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover is whether or not the Smallville Season 11 comic books would be considered canon. While many assumed they’d be taking the “Star Wars Legends” treatment, in which only events seen on screen would be referenced, even though they were written by one of Smallville’s writers (Bryan Q. Miller), Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim has confirmed on Twitter that they are canon… though they won’t be specifically referenced.

“They won’t be directly referenced but we consider the comic to be canon (with one small “off-camera” repurchase of a certain farm),” Guggenheim told a fan today on Twitter.

The Smallville Season 11 comics ran for several years and followed the adventures of Clark as Superman as he met characters like Batman and Wonder Woman, and even faced a Crisis of his own (will “Continuity” be referenced here?) We guess since [spoiler warning] Bart Allen died in the comics, that we will not be seeing Kyle Gallner’s Impulse in the crossover.

Also, Guggenheim’s comment confirms Clark and Lois repurchased the Kent Farm, which should make some people very happy.

Crisis on Infinite Earths airs in December, starting on December 8. If you want to brush up on the Smallville Season 11 comics, they can be purchased here.

Smallville Season 11 Concludes

The comic book continuation of Smallville has ended.

Smallville Continuity 12_SF_Cover_5465606667f3a0.86235434The story of Smallville is now officially over.

The comic book continuation of the series – dubbed “Season 11” and published by DC Comics – saw its final chapter being released today (you can purchase it here). Every story was written by Smallville veteran Bryan Q. Miller – whose Batgirl comics are still a must-read – with fantastic covers by Cat Staggs. The series explored what happened next for the characters – Clark, Lois, Chloe, Lex, Oliver, even characters like Tess and Dr. Emil – and featured return appearances or story wrap-ups for characters including Bart Allen, Conner Kent, Kara, Booster Gold, The Legion of Super-Heroes, and more.

Additionally, Smallville Season 11 gave the opportunity to introduce some “off limits” characters to the world of the show – including Batman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern.

There currently don’t seem to be any plans for a Smallville Season 12, but our gratitude goes out to Mr. Miller and Ms. Staggs for a job well done, and we will continue to hold on.

Smallville Season 11 Comics To End; No Plans For “Season 12”

The Smallville Season 11 comic book series will be ending.

SMVL_Cont1_CMYK_PrintWriter Bryan Q. Miller has confirmed that the Smallville Season 11 comic book series will be coming to an end.

The continuation of Smallville has seen the TV version of Clark Kent meeting Batman, Wonder Woman, and other characters not seen on the first ten seasons of the TV series; it also picked up the story in telling the adventures of Clark as Superman.

Miller has confirmed that “Continuity,” the current arc, is the last one; Miller has also Tweeted that there are currently no plans for a Season 12, meaning the series will end with “Continuity.” This ending was always planned.

Even with the series ending, if you hadn’t kept up, the series has been collected in TPB form and can also be bought digitally at readdcentertainment.com.
