The Fetishization of Lana Lang is an overview of how the writer of this column believes that "the character of Lana Lang was objectified, fetishized and stripped of her potential and humanity over the course of Seasons 1 and 2. The ripple effects of this fetishism weakened the show by damaging the interactions not just between her and the other characters, but also between Clark and the other characters. This lead to several unintended side effects, the worst of which is a decrease in the ability of many of the viewers to identify and sympathize with Clark Kent."
