200 Moments That Made Smallville Great

By Craig Byrne

As the 200th episode of Smallville approaches on Friday night, October 15, we thought it would be fun to list 200 moments that made Smallville great. You'll probably have some entries of your own; feel free to share those on the KryptonSite Forum.

This list will be split into 8 parts; 25 entries per page. Enjoy the list, and don't forget to watch Episode #200 on Friday night!

1. Jonathan and Martha Kent find a baby in a field. Well actually, "we didn't find him, he found us." (Pilot)

2. Clark returns Lana's necklace to her front doorknob. (Metamorphosis)

3. Clark and Lana yell to the sky. They're friends now. (Hothead)

4. Clark sees a lot more than he expected to in gym class. (X-Ray)

5. Sean Kelvin tells Clark that his mom is hot. Millions of Smallville fans already knew that. (Cool)

6. Cassandra Carver sees a dark future for Lex. No, it didn't involve any clones or getting blown up by Oliver. (Hourglass)

7. A future Oscar nominee, way before she was ever dreaming of a true love's kiss, becomes something of a fat-sucking vampire type. Only on Smallville. Amy Adams has since done quite well for herself. True story: This got Worst Episode for the very first KryptonSite Awards! (Craving)

8. Once they get out of the Luthorcorp plant, Clark is greeted with hugs and love from his parents. Lex's relationship with his father, however, is a completely different, and sadder, story. (Jitters)

9. Clark goes to Metropolis for the first time in the series and stops a runaway bus. (Rogue)

10. Pete's almost as ripped as Clark is! (Shimmer)

11. Kyle Tippet demonstrates his power by having Chloe and Clark kiss. (Hug)

12. Lex takes Cadmus Labs from Harry Hardwick and his daughter, Victoria. (Leech)

13. Almost ten years later, "Be. The. Car." is still a funny kind of bad. (Kinetic)

14. Club Zero flashbacks bring back dark moments from Lex's past. (Zero)

15. Under the spell of the Nicodemus flower, Lana has a whole new outlook and approach to life. (Nicodemus)

15 bonus. Clark and Lana can see Metropolis from the top of a Smallville windmill. The notion that Metropolis would be so closely visible was deemed ridiculous at the time; but now, nine years later, it seems Smallville has become a suburb of the big city. (Nicodemus)

16. The word "Kryptonite" is first heard on Smallville as Five For Fighting's "Superman" is heard as Ryan James leaves for Edge City with his aunt. (Stray)

17. Tyler Randall touches people and they turn to ash. Sadly, he did not touch the script for this otherwise forgettable episode. (Reaper)

18. A swarm of bees chases after Martha. (Drone)

19. "Time After Time" playing over the funeral of Whitney's father gives Smallville one of its first very emotional moments. (Crush)

20. Chloe mentions her cousin, a journalism student in Metropolis. This cousin is never mentioned on the show again. (Obscura)

21. A tornado rips through Smallville. (Tempest)

22. Clark tells his parents that it felt like he was flying when he saved Lana from her truck in the middle of the tornado. Eight years later he still hasn't mastered that. (Vortex)

23. Clark gets excited by his hot teacher in sex-ed class, prompting him to prematurely... shoot heat vision. (Heat)

24. Pete learns Clark's secret! (Duplicity)

25. Red Kryptonite takes away Clark's inhibitions. At one point he wants to wear all black and run off to Metropolis - did he read Season 9 spoilers? Lex seems to be impressed by Clark's new wardrobe, eyeing him up and down when he comes into the mansion with his new look. (Red)
