Video Interview: David Harewood Talks Hank Henshaw

This summer at the Comic-Con International in San Diego, we were able to interview members of the cast of Supergirl. Several of those had been posted before and can be found here… today, we have another to share, with David Harewood, who plays Hank Henshaw of the DEO.

Hank Henshaw plays an important role in tonight’s new episode, “Stronger Together,” making now a perfect time to share. In the video, Harewood started by talking about how Supergirl wasn’t what he was looking to do originally, but it turned out to be one of the favorite things that he’s done so far. “I think it really works in a very refreshing way. It turned out to be everything I could’ve hoped for.” And, yes, he’s aware of Hank Henshaw’s long history in the comics.

“The mythology of Hank Henshaw, he’s got his own huge story arc,” he said. “There’s a long way to go. In terms of my own trajectory, I’m going to leave it to Ali, Greg, Sarah and Andrew to really kind of unpack that, but at the moment, all I can say is it’s really exciting. We may not be sticking exactly to the mythology that’s in the comic books, it’s going to be interesting to see how much they keep it.”

“I’m interested to see how we interpret this,” Harewood added. “This is a guy who is augmented in some way… it’s going to be interesting to see how we make that possible. Whether or not it’s natural, unnatural… it’s going to be interesting to see what they do with him.”
