Supergirl on Set: David Harewood on M’Gann’s Secret & The Real Hank Henshaw

A new episode of Supergirl airs tonight at 8PM ET/PT on The CW, and as it should have some great material for David Harewood‘s Hank Henshaw, now seems like the perfect time to share some interview coverage from our recent visit to the show’s sets in Vancouver. You can find more interviews here. Tonight’s episode is called “The Darkest Place,” and we’ll get the ramifications of what happened to save J’Onn’s life last week, and it’s quite possible we’ll see another side to Hank Henshaw as well (spoilers at the link).

Enjoy, and if you want to see this as video, keep reading.

How will J’Onn react when he finds out that M’Gann is actually a White Martian?

I don’t think he’ll react very well. But what’s wonderful about it is he’s obviously conflicted, because he likes her. [She] reminds him of home, so it’s a bit of a double-edged sword. I think he’s struggling with the idea he could like a White Martian. It’s not something that he’s been used to, and having a sympathetic White Martian pretty much turns his world upside down. I think I have a line coming up where I say, ‘You define yourself by your hatred, and if I spent all this time hating White Martians, that’s what I do.” So without that, I think he could perhaps feel a little lost, because he’s just grown up that way.

Is there any change the real Hank Henshaw might still be alive out there somewhere?

There’s always a chance. It would be fun to play him again; I quite like him. I think there’s definitely a chance. Watch this space. You never know.

What was your response when you first saw the new DEO sets?

Loved it. I think it’s a great design, bright and — I loved the cave, but after about three episodes, you’ve kind of seen every angle, so this just gives you so much more, so much more to play with. It’s just a great set and shoots really well, so I think everyone’s really happy to get out of the cave. We weren’t happy to get out of Burbank, but yeah, happy to get out of the cave.

You can watch video of this interview below. Be sure to watch Supergirl tonight and feel free to join our countdown on our discussion forum for the show!
