Supergirl EP Ali Adler Discusses Season 2 “Growth” & Future Crossover

One of the covers for the TV Guide Magazine Comic-Con issue features Melissa Benoist as Supergirl and the show is featured in several pages within. The highlight, however, may be Damian Holbrook’s interview with Executive Producer Ali Adler, who talks about the growth we will see in Season 2.

“I think on CBS, our characters were born, and now on The CW they’re going to get a chance to crawl and walk and fly and really come into their own,” Adler told the magazine. “It’s really about all of our characters not just succeeding in the workplace or as superheroes but in their personal lives and in their own connections with each other.”

Also in the magazine, Adler promises we will know “who or what is in the pod” from the cliffhanger in early Season 2, and says that they “definitely hope” to include Dean Cain’s Jeremiah Danvers in the show’s adventures this season. She also says regarding a crossover with Arrow, The Flash, or DC’s Legends of Tomorrow that “these people will interact at some point this season in a completely logical way.”

The TV Guide Magazine Comic-Con Special is now available at newsstands and, of course, at Comic-Con itself!

  • Why are you making the focus of Supergirl season 2 a gay agenda? This was not part of the comics and is taking away from the storyline. A "family" show should not be used as a political platform, or to push an alternative lifestyle agenda. Watching woman kiss each other is irrelevant to a hero saving the planet. There is a sharp contrast between the chaste kiss between Supergirl and Monel and the lesbian scenes. These other scenes were offensive, and over the top...even for Hollywood. Make it stop!

    • Why are you posting homophobic drivel on this page? Alex isn't even in the comics to begin with, so they're not denying anything from the comics. And yes, women can kiss each other, just like men can kiss women and men can kiss men. It's called love. Love makes family. Please kindly take your homophobia elsewhere because it is not welcome on this website.
