RIP Carrie Fisher

There will be many websites today posting their recollections and tributes to actress Carrie Fisher, “Princess/General Leia” of Star Wars fame, who passed away this morning, four days after her heart attack. Some might even write a good half dozen posts to drown everyone else’s coverage out.

Here at KryptonSite, we’re not posting to just “cash in” – there’s a reason this is being mentioned on a Superman/Supergirl related website. You see, Carrie Fisher actually once played the editor of the Daily Planet!

It was the Smallville Season 5 episode “Thirst,” which many deride as being “so terrible” but here’s a secret: It’s not that terrible at all. The scenes between Chloe (Allison Mack) and Pauline Kahn (Carrie Fisher’s character) were actually some of the best in the entire ten-season run.

It was a good ten years before Fisher returned as General Leia in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but even then, it was nice to see an old familiar friend.

Here’s a clip of Fisher’s Smallville appearance; don’t ask us why there are weird subtitles.
