Post-Episode Content: Alex Garfin on “Worlds War Bizarre” Revelations

WARNING: Spoilers for the Superman & Lois episode “Worlds War Bizarre” are being discussed within. If you have not yet seen the June 21 episode, read no further or at the very least keep your reading to Part 1 of this interview!

So, it happened: After months of not being able to tell his girlfriend Sarah why he was sometimes aloof or absent, Jordan Kent (Alex Garfin)’s secret became out in the open, with no choice but to reveal his abilities. We spoke with Alex Garfin about “Worlds War Bizarre” but there were some quotes we had to save until after the episode had aired. The rest of the interview can be found below.

Can you talk about Sarah finding out what’s going on, when Jordan had to use his powers to protect her?

I don’t want to speak for Inde Navarrette, who plays Sarah Cushing, obviously, it’s her character… but I can imagine that was an extreme shock for Sarah, but also everything making sense. We’ve all had these moments in our lives when something is revealed, and all of a sudden, everything makes a lot more sense, even though the actual information is almost unbelievable and shocking. Your cynicism towards the previous situation helps you understand it, and I think that’s what we see from Sarah. That’s why it blindsided Lana so much more than Sarah.

In regards to Jordan having to reveal it to Sarah, I think in that moment, it was “oh boy, I’m going to be in trouble, I’m putting Sarah at risk, but holy crap, I need to save her!” So it was a moment of just pure elation.

I like the times when Jordan uses his powers, because he kind of transforms into a more adult state. It’s like when Aang in Avatar: The Last Airbender goes into his Avatar state. His instincts kind of take over and he becomes something else.

Is there anything you can tease about what we can expect from next week’s season finale?

I think we can expect some very big-picture stuff to have a big twist and also, an absolute delight in the episode is Dylan Walsh, who has an incredible speech. He’s someone who I look up to. He’s been in the business a long time. He’s played a lot of characters. He’s an absolute professional at what he does, and what I’m trying to do. Getting the pleasure to watch him orate a speech like that was absolutely delightful. I love that man so much. He is really just a joy.

The Superman & Lois season finale “Waiting For Superman” airs Tuesday, June 28 on The CW.
