Mehcad Brooks Is Leaving Supergirl In Season 5

Gain an Olsen, lose an Olsen.

While James Olsen’s sister Kelly (Azie Tesfai) is now a series regular on Supergirl, it appears her brother, James played by Mehcad Brooks, is headed out the door.

EW posted the news today that Mehcad will be leaving Supergirl in the first half of Season 5 so that he can pursue other ventures, including writing a book, doing feature films, and developing projects for a potential cable TV series.

“We love Mehcad and we’re sad to see him leave the show as a series regular, but we’re excited for both Mehcad and James Olsen’s future,” showrunners Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller said in a statement. “He’ll always be a part of our Supergirl family and we look forward to James returning to National City at some point to visit his sister and his super friends.”
