Krypton EP Cameron Welsh On Adam Strange’s Potential Mistake

This weekend at the WonderCon convention in Anaheim, California we were able to speak with some of the creative talents behind Syfy’s Krypton which airs on Wednesdays at 10PM on the cable channel. You can see those interviews here on KryptonSite in the coming days and weeks, as well as on our YouTube channel.

For today, though, we are sharing our interview with Cameron… not Cuffe, who plays Superman’s grandfather Seg-El; but rather, Cameron Welsh who is the showrunner and the man to go to for all of the answers. To begin, he shared some thoughts that Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) may be having, now that Krypton’s fate may have been altered by his trip through time.

“Adam will reach a point during this season where he will be hit with the reality that what has motivated him, and everything that he’s set in motion, he may have been wrong,” Welsh told us in the Krypton press room. “That’s never a good feeling when you realize you’ve made a mistake, but when you’ve made a mistake that is literally about the life and death of an entire civilization, that’s a pretty big mistake. So, he’ll have to contend with that.”

Could Adam be afraid of what he’ll find if he makes his way back to the future?

“I think so,” the producer said. “I think Adam has quite a few fears and insecurities. I think he tries to use a bit of bravado and bluster to paper over those cracks.”

Adam is one of many characters having a journey to be explored in Season 1, and Welsh promises that the next few episodes will spend time fleshing out those characters.

“We realize that those who saw the pilot, we just threw a whole lot of characters and concepts at you, and now we’ll go a little deeper,” Welsh promised of the next few installments. “We’ll start to get into some backstories – we’ll get into the backstory of the House of Zod. We’ll see what makes the House of Zod the House of Zod. We’ll see the class divide boil over and the outcome of that. And we will see Brainiac make his first strike!”

Krypton airs Wednesdays on Syfy. Come talk about the series on our discussion forum at KryptonSite and be sure to follow us on Twitter for the latest Krypton news!
