Season 6: What You Need To Know A handy guide by webmaster Craig Byrne

The
sixth season of Smallville begins in the United States
on Thursday, September 28, 2006, at 8PM on the new CW Network.
In case you're just joining us, here are some things you might
want answers to before going in. Be aware that there are SPOILERS
for past seasons AND for the season premiere.
I
haven't seen Smallville since the second season! What's happened?
This
is my opportunity to pimp the new book, the Smallville
Visual Guide. It takes a look at characters and elements
from the show's first five seasons. I'm a little biased in recommending
it, though, because I'm the writer.
When
is the show on?
Thursday
nights at 8PM in the United States, on the CW Network. Premiere
dates for other countries have not yet been announced.
I
don't know if I get the CW! How do I find out if I get it?
Clark
is imprisoned in the Phantom Zone, a place where the people
of Krypton sent their criminals. Before the Season 6 premiere
we haven't really seen what the inside of the Phantom Zone looks
like beyond the imagery of being in a flat square prison to
those who are not in it.
Why
aren't Clark and Lana together anymore? Since when was she with
Lex?
Clark
and Lana broke up in Season 5 after his secret became too much
of an issue between them. Clark felt that Lana knowing his secret
would put her in danger; Lana grew quickly tired of Clark's
secretive nature. She found solace and friendship - and it seems,
romance - with Lex. Even though he is now possessed by Zod,
she stands by his side.
Clark
also became a bit distant following the death of his father
in the series' 100th episode, "Reckoning."
Why
is everything crazy in Metropolis?
Brainiac
(aka Milton Fine, you know, the guy who looks like Spike from
Buffy) unleashed a computer virus that attacked computer
systems all over the world. Metropolis is chaotic right now,
as Chloe and Lionel especially found out.
Why
are only Lois and Martha on that plane?
It's
a Luthorcorp private jet. The original flight Lois and Martha
were going to take, for a political function, had a cancelled
flight, and Lionel offered his plane, which was apparently redirected
by Brainiac.
Who
is Zod?
Zod
is the worst enemy of Clark's father, Jor-El, on the planet
Krypton. He is a criminal and was placed within the Phantom
Zone. However, when he was put inside the Phantom Zone his body
was destroyed and so, when he escaped, he needed a vessel or
a form that he could take over. Zod took over the body of Lex
Luthor.
Since
when did Chloe know Jimmy Olsen?
In
the Season 4 episode "Unsafe," Chloe reveals to Lana
that she lost her virginity to a guy named Jimmy in Metropolis
who was "cute in a bowtie sort of way." This is that
same Jimmy.
Why
does Jimmy look like Eric Summers from "Leech?"
In
real life, they're brothers. Jimmy is played by Aaron Ashmore,
who many people might remember as Troy on Veronica
Mars. Jimmy's twin brother Shawn played Eric Summers
in the Smallville episodes "Leech" and "Asylum."
You might also remember Shawn from the X-Men movies, where he
plays Iceman.
Is
Lionel Luthor good or evil now?
With
the excellent way he is played by John Glover, you never really
know. We know at least in the past that he has served as a human
vessel for Jor-El. We also know he has true feelings of affection
for Martha Kent. But in the long run, we'll have to see where
Lionel's true intentions lie.
Where's
Pete?
Darned
if I know. Wichita, I guess.
Will
there be a Season 7?
That
all depends on how well Season 6 does. So tell your friends
to watch!
When
is Season 6 on DVD?
At
the rate things have gone in the past... probably sometime around
September 2007. A long ways away. So watch the show when it's
new!
