Smallville DVD
You won't see this in stores in the United States but you CAN order it through Videoflicks.com. The DVD includes deleted scenes, a map of Smallville, and, oh yeah, what sounds like the Smallville pilot and "Metamorphosis." The DVD also includes commentary from executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and pilot director David Nutter. What are you waiting for? Order a copy!


Superman For All Seasons
Smallville explores the story of a young Clark Kent and his place in the world on television. In the comics, this was very well illustrated in Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale's "Superman For All Seasons." This has been labeled a "must read" by many fans and also listed as the favorite Superman story of recent years by many. Check it out!

Entertainment Weekly Spotlights Super-Teens
(10/19) Now that Clark Kent is once again the most popular super-powered teen on primetime TV, the folks at Entertainment Weekly have decided to take a look at super-teens of the past all the way to the present, including (you guessed it!) Smallville.

Smallville Premiere Sets Many Records For The WB
(10/18) Ratings for the series premiere of Smallville blew its scifi-alien-genre competitor Roswell out of the water and could quite possibly have won it's target demographic. It also broke SEVERAL records for the WB Network. These records include:

  • Achieved an all-time record for the WB in adults 18-34 (4.5/12)
  • Scored all-time record ratings in the Men 18-34 demographic (5.0/14) and Men 18-49 (3.9/10)
  • Had the WB Network's third-best adults 18-49 (3.8/9) rating ever
  • Set all-time records for a series premiere on the WB in total viewers (8.4 million)
  • Was #1 in its time period in persons 12-34 (4.4/12), men 12-34 (4.8/14), men 18-34 (5.0/14), teens (4.1/15), female teens (3.9/15) and male teens (4.3/15). 
  • Smallville also did extremely well in many prominent markets in the country, including Los Angeles (#1 in its time period, 10.9/16), New York (#2, 8.1/12), San Diego (#1, 10.0/15), Orlando (#2, 11.9/16), St. Louis (#2, 11.5/17), San Francisco (#2, 8.0/13) and Kansas City (#2, 7.8/11).

Smallville held its own against its competitors, with only CBS's The Guardian (with its cushy timeslot between JAG and Judging Amy) and NBC's sitcoms doing better. This is quite a feat. Here's the rundown:

And you thought radioactive spiders were annoying...All About "Metamorphosis"
(10/17) The episode of Smallville airing on Tuesday night (October 23) is titled "Metamorphosis," and it features Chad E. Donella ("Final Destination") as a bug-loving teen who gets powers as a result of a strange accident. To the left you can find a photo of Chad from the movie "Final Destination."

You know, Kelly Brook would look hot in this necklace...Some photos from the episode have also been released. To your right is a shot of Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) examining the mysterious glowing green necklace that he found in the cornfield in the show's pilot.

"Metamorphosis" airs Tuesday night, October 23, at 9PM (ET) on the WB. For some episode spoilers you can click here.

(10/12) Cinescape Online has managed to get some promotional photos from episode #2 of Smallville, which is titled "Metamorphosis" and will be airing on October 23. To the right you can find a photo of Clark (Tom Welling) with his parents, played by Annette O'Toole and John Schneider.
