Superman & Lois: Wolé Parks Teases Luthor Backstory In “Man of Steel”

Tonight’s episode of Superman & Lois is going to be a very big deal. We’ve all seen episodes of television that change our perspectives of a series; this is one of them.

“Captain Luthor” or “The Stranger” as played by Wolé Parks has been an interesting fixture for Superman & Lois since his introduction in the very first episode. Parts of his backstory were expanded upon in the show’s second and fifth episodes. Now, in “Man of Steel” directed by David Ramsey and written by Jai Jameson, we learn more about his world and the domineering Superman that lives there.

We will have a post-mortem interview on the website after the episode has aired, but for a not-so-spoilery take, Wolé Parks himself gave his perspective on what we have to look forward to.

“They’ve been building up this idea of Captain Luthor and where he comes from, but I think we finally get a deep dive into who he is and why he’s here. We’ve seen glimpses of it, but we finally get to empathize with him for the first time,” he says.

Where does he come from? Will we see more of this violent and uncontrolled Man of Steel? Will Jonathan forgive Jordan for breaking his arm? All of these questions will be answered tonight (May 25) at 9PM ET/PT on The CW. Some photos from the episode can be found below.
