Supergirl & Superman Fight Metallo In Season 2

EW has confirmed what fans on Twitter figured out weeks ago: DC Comics villain Metallo will be battling Supergirl and Superman in Supergirl Season 2. He’ll make his first appearance in the season premiere, where he’ll be fighting both of the cousins in a place called “Krypton Park” (“Krypton Site” was already taken, apparently), and he’ll be in at least two episodes.

Actor Frederick Schmidt will be playing Metallo. Here’s the description EW posted about the character:

When international assassin John Corben is badly injured after taking on both Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin), he is reborn by a shadow organization into the Kryptonite-powered supervillain Metallo.

Interesting trivia about the Metallo character: His first comic book appearance was in Action Comics #252. Why is this relevant? That was also the comic book that introduced Supergirl way back in 1959.

Metallo was played by Michael Callan in the Superboy TV series, Family Ties’ Scott Valentine on Lois & Clark, and Brian Austin Green in Smallville Season 9.

You can see some video of filming Superman and Metallo fighting from the Supergirl premiere below; it looks like Superman might be putting on some added protection to fight the villain. Supergirl returns October 10 on The CW.
