Supergirl “Girl of Steel” Overnight Ratings Report

Was the TV audience just not ready for Supergirl to return? Or is broadcast TV just fading?

The Supergirl Season 3 premiere “Girl of Steel” tied an all-time series low in the Ages 18-49 demo last night, getting an 0.5/2 in the demographic and 1.87 million viewers. The numbers are still good for The CW, but not so good considering the show premiered to about twice those numbers this time last year.

But, hey, it’s still outdone even some shows on bigger networks like ABC, so there’s that, and Supergirl had a fairly weak lead-out in Valor, proving that Supergirl and Valor should never be paired together, it only leads to bad things.

Final ratings can and will go up once DVR, streaming, and other things are factored in.

What did you think of the season premiere? Come talk about it on our forum!

  • Not surprised about the rating and viewership being down. This was not must-see compared to the 2nd season premiere that had Superman. I also wonder how well did the network promote the season premiere prior to its airing. I've said it before that starting the season with a unlikable Supergirl was not a good idea and you need something eventful to go up against stiff competition.
