Supergirl EP Talks Mon-El’s Future & “Kara Being Kara”

The Comic-Con issue of TV Guide Magazine is now hitting newsstands across the United States, and in it, there are some quotes from Executive Producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller about what to expect from Season 5.

Among the subjects talked about is the future of “Karamel,” the Kara and Mon-El relationship. “Kara’s work is on Earth as a hero. Mon-El’s in the future as a hero. They’re star crossed,” Queller says, though she did point out that before leaving with Legion, Mon-El said something important. “Mon-El gave [Kara] a Legion ring and said, ‘If you ever need me, call.’ So he can come back when he wants.”

Rovner promises that Season 4 “will be much more grounded in National City.”

“We want to get Kara back to reporting more, back to the balance of Kara being Kara. We have a really interesting story for her that we’re excited to tell,” he told TVGM’s Damian Holbrook.

More Supergirl Season 4 news is surely headed our way at Comic-Con, so stay tuned!

  • I'm glad to hear there will be more focus on Kara the reporter; there are a lot of interesting stories still untouched since that side of her has been really downplayed. Hopefully, there's room for a Cat Grant return even for a few eps, more than the video we got in Season 3.

And seriously - I deeply, deeply wish Mon-El stays in the future and never returns. He's dragged the show down for two seasons, they aren't "soulmates", and they don't even have great chemistry. No matter what becomes of this "hero", the way they began and having all of his growth happen off-screen, not to mention how he dominated the storylines of both seasons, there's a sizable part of the audience who'll never be won over. Let him go. If they're so hot on him, create a Legion show.

  • Can Queller stop obsessing over MonDouche. Honestly, he was the most hated character on the show. People are happy hes gone. She needs to grow up. I can't believe shes in charge of anything.
