Krypton: New Trailer & Featurette Show First Look At Brainiac

Krypton may be giving us the coolest-looking take on Brainiac yet.

“It moves from planet-to-planet. It’s known as the Collector of Worlds, but it’s true name…is Brainiac,” Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) says in newly-released clips from the series which premieres in exactly a month on Syfy.

This take on Brainiac is green and he even has his skull ship! There’s also a very alien quality to him, that DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns pointed out in a new featurette. The role is being played by Blake Ritson.

“We really decided to take a run at making him colder and more emotionally distant and ancient,” said President and Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment Geoff Johns said.

“Yes, he traverses the universe in a gigantic skull ship, ripping cities out of planets, miniaturizing them and placing them on board. But he does so in the spirit of conservation,” Ritson told USA Today in an interview that includes the photo you can see above. “In his mind, he’s committed to the ultimate philanthropic act: saving all of creation. In many ways it’s analogous to Noah plucking out two of every animal to ensure their survival, even while knowing that others must perish.”

You can see a featurette with Brainiac as well as a new trailer for Krypton below. The new trailer is particularly interesting as it contains what may be our first on-air mention of Kandor, and more details about Brainiac’s plan and what the Superman cape has to do with the series.

The show premieres March 21.
