James Olsen’s Sister Is Coming To Supergirl

James Olsen in the Supergirl universe has a sister, and Deadline is reporting that Azie Tesfai (Jane the Virgin) has landed the role. Her character’s name is “Kelly Olsen.”

Here’s the write-up for the character:

Kelly is an intelligent and insightful woman who spent time in the military in order to pay for medical school. She’s recently discharged from the military and is currently finishing her training as a psychiatrist. She’s got a large heart and cares deeply about others.

This isn’t the first time a sibling has been created for Jimmy Olsen in media. Smallville revealed that the “Jimmy Olsen” we had been watching for Seasons 6 through 8 was actually “Henry James Olsen,” older brother of James Bartholomew.

Combing the Internet, it’s clear Mehcad and Azie have known each other for some time… he even refers to her as “his sister” on Twitter. We’re not sure if they really are siblings or if it’s just a figure of speech, but there you go!
