Ben Jelen as The Flash?
The New York Post reports that singer Ben Jelen ("Come
On") is in talks with producers of Smallville about taking
the role of Bart Allen/The Flash. No confirmation, yet, but
in case you're curious, a picture of Ben is to the right of
this article.
Interesting
trivia: Ben's song "Setting
of the Sun" was played in the Smallville episode
"Obsession."
UPDATE
AGAIN: Seems
we jumped the gun on this one... though we thought we had confirmation,
it seems Ben Jelen is
NOT
playing Bart Allen after all. Our apologies for the misinformation!
The Flash is instead played by Kyle Gallner.

Christopher Reeve in Vancouver?
We've just received this rumor report. Not sure if we can confirm
it, but, here goes:
"Yesterday,
August 14th. A very very reliable source of mine saw Christopher
Reeve and Tom Welling having lunch in Vancouver at a French
restaurant. It was my friend's Aunt who lives in Vancouver and
she is 100% sure it was them because she was in the restaurant,
and also its not hard to spot Chris Reeve. I speculate that
he was in vancouver for shooting scenes in Crusade."
We
doubt anyone from Smallville will speak up and tell us if this
tipster was right, but it does add credence to our earlier rumor
that Dr. Swann may be appearing in Season 4's first two episodes.
UPDATE:
Christopher Reeve is not in the season premiere, so this report
is unlikely.

Another DC Super Hero Comes To Smallville?
This was the original post, although it's since been confirmed:
We're
hearing rumblings that The Flash might be appearing on Smallville
at some point this season, and in the WB tradition, "younger,
edgier, and more street smart." The Flash appearance could
be as early as the fifth episode of Season Four.
The
Flash has appeared on TV before. He had his own series on CBS
in 1990, appeared in a failed Justice League live-action TV
pilot (also for CBS) in 1997, and was most recently developed
by producer Todd Komarnicki for a WB series that never surfaced
(click
for more information). Interesting Flash trivia: The Flash
also appears in the current Justice League animated series,
and he is voiced by none other than "Lex" himself,
Michael Rosenbaum.
This

Dr.
Swann Returns Sooner Than We Think?
Flying. Lois Lane. The true fate of Chloe Sullivan. The introduction
of Jason Teague. There sounds like there's a lot to look forward
to in Smallville season premiere, "Crusade"...
but could it be that one major element of the episode hasn't
been spoiled?
Here's
one for the Rumorville file: Dr. Swann, the character played
by Christopher Reeve in "Rosetta" and "Legacy,"
will be involved with the first episode of Season Four. Possibly
the first two. But, we don't know this one for sure, as we haven't
seen any solid proof, but don't be surprised if it happens...
Don't
be surprised if his scenes involve his "Superman III"
co-star Annette O'Toole. After all, Jeph Loeb did say in this
interview that the two may interact "sooner than you
think!"
Just
don't kill us if it doesn't happen. But if it does, you know
where you read it first... (and anyone who wants to confirm
or deny, you know where to find us).

Not true. Reeve is not in the Season 4 premiere; instead, his
emissary, Bridgette Crosby, played by Margot

Clark
Flies... Or Not?
Here's some speculation for you for the Smallville season
premiere, "Crusade"...
Apparently
there's a scene where Clark flies alongside a plane Lex Luthor
is travelling in. But, here's our speculation: What if this
person flying around isn't "Clark" after all? Maybe
someone who looks like Clark, sounds like Clark... but isn't
Clark? A clone, or something made by Jor-El, perhaps? A convenient
way to get past "no flights," surely...

UPDATE:
Garth Ancier was heard to have said at Wednesday's press
junkets that yes, Tom Welling will fly, but "it will be
Kal-El, which is Bad Clark." Whatever that means. Aren't
Kal-El and Clark one and the same? Or could our theory be true?
UPDATE
#2: "Kryppy" has this opposing theory: "It
sounds to me like Clark will wear Red Kryptonite again and fly.
But then when he takes the Red Kryptonite off, he'll forget
how to fly. So flying is something Clark can only do while he's
angry (for now, at least). I think when Ancier said "Kal-el,"
he meant Kal."
UPDATE
#3: A new article at Sci-Fi
Wire seems to clear it up. "The first episode is all
about visualizing the internal fight between Clark and Kal-El.
Clark Kent represents his Earth-bound persona, the kid who was
brought up by the Kents. And Kal-El represents the person that
Jor-El wants him to be. This personifies that," Miles Millar
said at the WB's All-Star Summer Party. (To

 "Lois
Lane" Revealed!
"J" pointed us to a message board posting where someone
said their friend Erica had been cast in the role of Lois Lane
for four episodes of Smallville. This "Erica"
has been on Andromeda and Stargate, which caused
us to do a little research, and matching the photo provided
with a person named "Erica," we came up with an actress
named "Erica Durance." The shot to your left
is a screencapture from one of her previous television appearances
(which also include Tru Calling).
UPDATE:
This news has now been CONFIRMED! Erica Durance is Lois Lane!
 "Jason
Teague" Cast?
Someone has e-mailed with an e-mail that at least *sounds* real
to tell us that the role of Jason Teague has been filled, and
that he will be played by actor Jensen Ackles. Ackles'
past credits include Days of our Lives, Dark Angel, and
Dawson's Creek. He was also to star in FOX's aborted
Still Life series. At this moment we do not have any
official confirmation or denial of this; so, if it's not true,
please do not get upset! If anyone official is reading and can
confirm or deny, please send
us some e-mail.
UPDATE:
Several Jensen Ackles fan sites, including his official newsletter,
are also reporting this news. It's starting to look very legit...

Another
"New Character" Rumor...
One of the same tipsters who told us about "Jason Teague"
yesterday also mentioned that The Powers That Be are casting
the role of Lois Lane, for a "four-episode arc where she
looks into the death of Chloe."
Now,
it sounds like Allison Mack is coming back next season, so "the
death of Chloe" might be speaking a bit soon... either
way, no confirmation on this one yet (Anyone
who wants to confirm, please do!) We can't confirm this
yet, so if that's not the case, don't kill us, kay?

A
New Character For Season Four?
Someone's e-mailed us with a rumor that Lana will be meeting
a new boy when she is in Paris, and the new guy will be coming
back to Smallville when she returns. The tipster claims
the character is currently being cast, and will be a recurring,
ongoing role.
Both
our tipster and someone at a forum at Television
Without Pity have said the name of the character is "Jason
Teague," and that he's a "21 year old American college
junior." This
news has since been CONFIRMED - see the Spoilers page!

I'm GUESSING that it is some sort of scrambled message. In light
of the reference to Washington DC in the previous code, you
could rearrange these letters as "Presidt" (President)
with "almouv" left over or "Presidtal" (Presidential)
with "mouv" (Move???) left over (a reference to Lex
possibly running for President???). You can also rearrange the
letters to read "Volume" "Rapid" with "st"
left over or "ID" "Volume" "Traps".
I'll leave it to someone smarter and more creative than I to
decipher this one.
Someone is going to need to decipher the code for the "Ezra
Small's Legacy: One More Time" message posted on March
3. I don't have the time to go through that one again. I figured
it out at one point and didn't save the key. I would imagine
that there is another message hidden inside.

UPDATED:
Sean Astin To Direct Upcoming Episode?
An icon of one of the best movies of the 1980's who also appeared
in the most recent Best Picture film might be coming to Smallville
soon.
Sean
Astin, who played "Mikey" in the film classic "The
Goonies" and Sam in "Lord of the Rings," was
said to have been heard at a recent convention saying he'll
be directing an episode of Smallville soon.
UPDATE:
We have learned that Astin has met with the folks
at Smallville and could possibly be directing an episode
in Season 4. The directors' schedule for next season, of course,
is not yet set... but it's always a possibility! Hey, we're
all for the idea... and beyond that, getting directed by "Mikey"
would probably geek out a certain bald cast member, in a good
way. We'll keep you updated.
Another
Strange Hairstyle Change Sighting...
Allison Mack was seen in Vancouver by a fan this week, with
a somewhat different look. What, may you ask? Allison was not
blonde, but rather a BRUNETTE. And it wasn't just a case of
looking alike, as "Allison" signed an autograph.
Could
Chloe be going undercover in Smallville's future? Will
the name "Lois Lane" be involved? Or are they going
all Patty and Cathy on us? Stay tuned... for all we know this

Lionel
Goes Bald?
This one would have to go in the rumor category until we can
get any confirmation... but a tipster e-mailed us today saying
that they saw John Glover recently... with his head shaved!
Could the feds be shorning Lionel's mane when they take him
in to prison? It sounds quite possible, and it would be an ironic
twist for the Magnificent You Know What. Or, perhaps the shaved
head has to do with treatments Lionel is getting for his rare
liver condition. However, at this point we do not have confirmation
on this, which is why it's in the rumor category for now. (In
other words, if this isn't for real, don't kill us. Please?)

Season
3 DVD Coming In September?
We were hearing rumors that the Season 3 Smallville DVD
set will be out in September, just in time for the fourth season
premiere. This release could get a new fan totally caught up
and would be perfect promotion for when the show's fourth season
begins. However, a representative from Warner Brothers said
at the Home
Theater Forum that it is indeed in the works, but specifically
that it will NOT be out in time for Season 4. We, of course,
don't know what the real deal is.
The
first
season is already available on DVD, with Season
2 coming May 25.

Smallville Ledger's latest Ezra Small prophecy is posted,

Perry
White Returning This Season?
Several online interviews with Executive Producer Al Gough in
recent weeks implied that the character of Perry White, played
by Michael McKean, may be returning later this season, or early
in Season 4.
Mark
your calendars for Season Four, because our sources are saying
he's not in the planbook for this year. Whether or not there
will be a conflict with him doing "Hairspray" on Broadway,
we don't know. (That begins in May)

The

and "The Palm Tree Man" has it figured out. Here's
what he had to say:

was all farmland as far as the eye could see. Every town has
it's share of tall tales. I've had my eye on you just like you've

We learned in the Season 2 episode "Accelerate" that
Lionel Luthor was doing experimentation with cloning. But could
the seeds of this have been planted much, much sooner?
Think
back to first season, "Nicodemus." Dr. Hamilton had
been hired by Lex Luthor to study the effects of the meteor
rocks. What does he do to revive the long-dead Nicodemus flower?
He cloned it. This could also explain the perfect Jude
Royce lookalike the week before.
Could
that have been Lionel Luthor's Level Three experiment? Maybe
being affected by whatever Lionel was using with the process
had a negative effect on folks such as Earl Jenkins, and caused
their bodies to degenerate.

Tory, figuring out the code:
It's
a multipart code.
First step is that it's morse code. b=blip or dot, f=full
or dash. Each ! is the separator between letters and each
!! is the separator between words.
Once you've switched from morse code, it's reverse-alphabetical.
I.e. A=Z, B=Y, etc...
Then, the entire code saying is written in reverse. As such,
here is the translation:
"Answers will elude warrior angels sorrow betrayal is
genetic unlock the secrets his last sunset its protecting
itself crystal will grow for our future actions have consequences

month (May). The third fate could also mean Clark's choice to
wear the Red Kryptonite ring.

power struggle between Lex and Lionel. There is obviously something
going on between Helen and Lionel. And when Lex wakes up (after

as it crashes into the water. It was all a plan that Helen and
Lionel set up to destroy Lex.

But they cannot avoid a casualty

and Lana. They are finally together and see themselves happy
with each other. Either way they choose, though, they will lose
a friend in Chloe, who's betrayed.

I'm
thinking the Spaceship. A survivor of the cosmos, it unlocks
the Kryptonian Language and answers some of Clark's questions
about himself. It delivers Clark to the planet Earth. It rejuvenates
both Clark (when locked in the basement with Lana's necklace)
and Martha (causing her to become pregnant) and it kills Martha's
baby. It's interesting to note that this prophecy is somewhat
also made in the first part of the Ledger series...."Eightfold
survivor of the millennia/Spins destruction and mayhem/Eats,
molts, dies"...

The
Mark of Clark's ancestors is branded onto Clark the first time
he tries to defy the ship's orders. The voice basically tells
Clark that he cannot fight his destiny.

The second will return

think this is a reference to the Second Season episode "Dichotic",
where Ian could reproduce himself to date Chloe and Lana at
the same time and fighting Clark when they think he is jealous.
"The Second will return" though I don't know.

I'm
not sure if this means this, but when the meteor shower hit
in 1989, the Kents were traveling in thier truck, which was
flipped over and Clark saved them. After the storm cellar was
destroyed, the same thing happened. Both times afterwards, something
happened to the Kents...in the beginning (gaining a son, Clark)
and in the end (losing a child, the baby)...both times their
lives were turned upside down. (I'm probably wrong though!)
The
lofty spires beckon

In
the final shot of the finale, we see Clark riding towards Metropolis.
The lofty spires are the city buildings, the lost soul is Clark,
who is caught between his decisions and his destiny. He is also
literally caught between two worlds, being Earth and Krypton.

I
think this means Chloe. Clark said that he knew that she had
"one of those red Kryptonite rings around the Torch somewhere",
meaning she didn't truly understand the red rock's powers. She
knows that telling people how she feels will only get her hurt,
since she did that with Clark and it ended up destroying their
relationship.

Jonathan,
who has always been patient, supportive and strong, suffers
a great blow by losing his only birth child. He turns his back
on Clark, the only son he'll ever have, in the hospital, causing

doesn't show for the wedding, the Kents leave in the middle
of the wedding, and Helen isn't what she seems anymore. Plus,
what was in that envelope that Lionel has?

Clark
and Dr. Walden...both have had incidents in the caves where
they were "pierced" by lights coming from the octogon
shape in the wall and both have been able to decipher the Kryptonian
Language after the incidents (or in Walden's case, after he
woke up). There's also a double meaning here, based on "Calling",
where Walden attacks Clark...Clark is pierced by Walden's beam
from his hand, and uses his heat vision to pierce Walden to
let him go. Both is illuminated when the gas tank blows up,
but only Clark survives, therefore becoming the only one able
to read and decipher the symbols. Clark emerges enlightened.

sounds like Clark and Lana aren't meant to be, as we know. These
words are also lyrics in the first verse of Remy Zero's "Save
Me", which is of course the theme song of the show.

lot of the later stuff in this week's code is pretty self-explanatory.
"The Big Apricot" is of course Metropolis. "Become
the truck" was once told to Whitney in "Kinetic."
Wasn't "Black Zero" an alternate universe version
of Superboy in the "Hyper-Tension" comic book storyline,
but it was also the name of "the terrorist organization
that planted a doomsday bomb in the center of Krypton to protest
the use of clones in medical procedures i.e. placing clones
in cold storage so body parts could be harvested for the original
donor as needed (at least I think that was their cause). This
is of course the bomb that became active centuries later and
caused Krypton to explode." (Thanks to Michael Haney for
that!)
Will
wrote back a few hours later, figuring out the first part of
the code:

have found out that "CHUPACABRA MAPINGUARI KIKIYAON DRANG

in Spanish, is famous in Central America for supposedly sucking

neck. That yaquaru is some type of sea tiger, the mapinguari
is from the amazonian jungle, and the selkie is from Ireland.
The denebian slime devil is a mythical amphibian, the mokele
mbembe is a dinasaur-like creature from the congo. Also from
africa is the popo bawa (bat's wing in swahili), who is supposedly
half bat half man. Does this mean Bruce Wayne in season 3? maybe.
Finally, the diprotodon is an extinct Australian mammal. Basically
ezra is beating us over the head with the fact that clark is
a mythical creature."

been able to decipher the coded message from this week's (Part
IV) prophecies. This is what every letter represents:

Obviously
some of the words are kind of odd.... many of the terms are
confusing, as well. Some are may be references to other sci-fi
TV shows involving caves. The Hortas of "Janus VI"
are "the greatest miners in the galaxy" in the
Star Trek universe, according to a Google search. The only
time I (K-Site webmaster Craig) has ever heard the word "Androzani"
is in "The Caves of Androzani," Peter Davison's final
Doctor Who episode. Again with the caves.
Other
things... "Rainbow Canyon" is a tourist attraction
in Nevada where people can look at rock art. And of course certain
elements from Smallville arer openly there... "Lowell County,"
"Metropolis United Charities," and "Chandler's
Field windmill."
As
for the poems, Jules sent us these cracks:

once a crypt of the Church near Hobson's' Pond that was destroyed
in the 1989 meteor shower. Before it becomes a tomb to them,
Clark discovers them.

Small Prophecies: Part Three

All we can make of this is possibly that something horrible
will happen in "Exodus" to Martha's baby, and the
miracle is possibly Clark flying?
Another
interpretation is going back to the show's pilot. Martha made
a wish to Lana, the "faiwy pwintheth" that a child
would come into her life. The tragedy of course was the meteor
shower, but Clark was the miracle that arrived.
He
will live when he should have died
His blood presents baffling mysteries
Yet he is just a man
This is probably a reference to the blood work Dr. Helen Bryce
has done to Clark. In the episode "Fever," he lived
where he should have died.

In five years
I will be nothing like my father
Lex's story in "Redux" had a similar theme.

"Scholar
is Rosetta" = obviously a reference to Dr. Swann. "Nightwing
and Flamebird" were the superheroic identities of Superman
and Jimmy Olsen on the bottle city of Kandor in the original
comics. Adam Thurmond suggests "Kenneth knows frequency"
is a reference to the band REM, who did a song titled "Superman."
They were also known for a song called "What's the frequency,
Kenneth?"
"Find
the papers" may mean that Clark knows someone has information
on him and has to retrieve whatever it is they have on him.

This could be referring to the prophecy seen by Cassandra in

This is a crater on the face of the moon that appears to be
the shape of a perfect triangle. Some believe (within UFO
and conspiracy theory groups) it is possibly artifially made.

As in Cahokia, Illinois. Apparently this is the site of the
Cahokia Mounds. It can be translated as City of the Sun.

One of Krypton's moons. It was destroyed when an experiment
by the criminal-scientist Jax-Ur went wrong, killing the people
who had colonized it. The remains of this moon joined with
space debris to form rings around Krypton like those around
Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus. (According to Superman lore)
Well,
that is it. Some other people may be able to find some more
information about all of these but several recurring themes
(for the most part) were Native Americans (Teotihuacan, Cahokia),
Pyramids (Teotihuacan, Giza, Guimar, Tell-Al-Muqayyar), and
Krypton (Urrika, Wegthor). I hope this helps.

We received an e-mail from "IbenLaw" that may have
figured out some of the "gibberish codes" featured
in a recent Smallville
Ledger article about the prophecies of Ezra Small. Here's
what he pointed out:
NOTE:
We accidentally printed a mistranslation -- rather than "Swan
Not Muse," as originally reported here at K-Site, it's
"Swan Not Mute." Our apologies for any misinformation.
This
morning I visited the front page of KryptonSite, as I do every
Wednesday, and saw a news post from Craig about Ezra Small's
"prophecies" in the Ledger. Being curious, I followed
the link and checked it out. While most of the prophecies
were self-explanatory and kind of lame, the part about random
numbers and letters caught my attention. Those letters and
numbers aren't random. They're a code. If you take each letter
in that part and replace it with it's opposite (i.e. a becomes
z), those not-so-random lines spell out a message. Below is
the decoded message:

what does this mean? Dr. Swann is not mute -- does that mean
he accidentally tells someone about Clark's secret? The number
89 may signify the year 1989.
Regarding
Alexander at Thebes, philljt tells us "The story of
Alexander at Thebes involves the Greek ruler Alexander the Great
taking over an army his father had left him...and turning it
into an even greater fighting machine, and in turn stepping
out from his father's shadow. It also marks a turning point
in Alexander's rise to power. So, the "prophecy" in
the code, if the interpretation is correct, probably refers
to Lex subverting Lionel's control of Luthorcorp sometime in
the near future and/or moving to the dark side."
Steven
Dougherty adds: "Alexander the Great destroyed Thebes
as a warning to other Greeks. It was a great turning point in
his life. Thebes revolted against his rule, and he crushed the
revolt mercilessly. This was probably the one act that truly
set his path to greatness. Since Lex is often compared to Alexander
the Great, it might not be too far fetched to think that some
sort of "day of reckoning" is coming. A point in Lex's
story that cements his fall into darkness. Well, it's not that
cryptic, really. We all know that he's going to fall eventually,
so the prophecy isn't all that insightful."
"Rao
made us" = The Kryptonian god is Rao.
Other
elements within that same article make reference to "Morris,
Rice and Sedgwick" -- three counties in Kansas. It implies
the meteor shower may not be the first, nor the last. A fan
pointed out that there's a reference to a "trembling sufferer"
and a "third level" - which could be referencing Earl
Jenkins from "Jitters."
Another
bit of the "prophecy" says "Tzaruch shermirah
hasof bah." Steven Doughterty thinks it means this:
"The phrase "Tzaruch shemirah hasof bah" in Ezra
Small's journal is Yiddish, I believe and it means "everyone
must account for themselves because the end is near". I'm
not sure of the exact translation, to be honest. I'm getting
this info second hand. Oddly enough, there was a news
report about a talking fish recently that essentially said
the exact same phrases."

article and see what you can make of it. From the prophecies
of a "too-short life," it sounds like Baby Kent might
not be long for this world. You are welcome to discuss the article

The STAR tabloid recently published a report that the
producers are willing to move production to New York next year
if that's what it would take to get Christopher Reeve to take
