AOL
AND THE WB TEAM UP FOR EXCLUSIVE 'SMALLVLLE' BLOG
'Project
Mercury 2.0' Blog to Extend Plot from On-Air to Online
With Text, Photos, and Video Updates
Dulles, VA
and Burbank, CA April 18, 2006 AOL and The WB have
teamed for a unique collaboration surrounding The WBs hit
series Smallville." AOL.com will host an online blog
at http://www.aol.com/smallville
that will bring fans even deeper into the show's exciting plot,
taking viewers from on-air to online, then back again for the
May 4 episode.
The exclusive
blog will allow Smallville fans to join Lex Luthor
(Michael Rosenbaum) in his secret mission (Project Mercury 2.0)
to track down Dr. Milton Fine (James Marsters). The blog will
chart Fines progress as his traverses the globe hunting
down samples of all the deadliest viruses known to man. The Project
Mercury 2.0 blog will feature text, photos and video reports as
Lexs team updates him (and fans) on their progress in finding
Dr. Fine. AOL.com users will be the first to know Dr. Fine is
back in the United States and presumably ready to wreak his havoc
on the world just before the May 4 episode airs.
In 2003 and
2004, AOL and The WB teamed up to create the Chloe Chronicles,
an exclusive original series of brief online video segments that
extended plotlines from "Smallville," providing clues
to mysteries of the show and offering hints as to what was to
come in future episodes. The "Chloe Chronicles" featured
Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack), as she investigates suspicious
happenings around the town of Smallville.
Smallville
was developed for television by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar
based on the DC Comics characters. Gough and Millar serve as executive
producers, along with Greg Beeman, Ken Horton, Mike Tollin, Brian
Robbins and Joe Davola. The series is produced by Tollin/Robbins
Productions, Millar/Gough Ink and Warner Bros. Television Production
Inc. SUPERMAN was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster.
