Al Gough & Miles Millar In Smallville Magazine #4
Alfred Gough and Miles Millar talk about the third season of the show in issue #4 of Titan's Official Smallville Magazine. The official release date for the magazine is Dec. 21 although the magazine can already be found at some major bookstore chains.

Here are some highlights from their interview with Richard Matthews:

Miles Millar on the diminished role and eventual departure of Sam Jones III as Pete Ross:
"We miss him occasionally now in the stories, but it was one of those situations where either you use him or you don't use him and we felt sometimes we were fighting to find scenes for the character. We love Sam Jones, but Clark talks to his parets instead - they're really Clark's confidants. There are often scenes where we wish he could come in and comment and we want to bring him back, as long as we can find the right situation or storyline. We just felt that we were wasting him and wasting the character."

Millar on Clana in Season Three:
"We played this for 60-odd episodes," says Millar. "Enough already - let's find something else. He's always going to love her, so that for us is still the core and he can be the unrequited love for her."

Millar on a Clark/Lana union being suicide for the show:
"We had this scene in Exodus where they finally went out, with them picnicking, and horses and we thought 'well, that's boring as hell, we're not going to do that for a whole season.' That's the Moonlighting curse, the kiss of death for any of these shows. These two have to be apart and we then get all this Internet stuff saying 'they've gotta be together, when are they gonna be together?" Soon as they're together - Game over."

Smallville Magazine #4 features tributes to the late Christopher Reeve and big new interviews with Tom Welling and Allison Mack. There's also an interview with executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar inside, and there is a really cool look at Smallville's "mythology episodes." And of course if that's not enough... a free Allison Mack poster!
