More Summer 1995 fun, seeing more of what went on in L&C fandom during that summer.

There was fanfiction in some of these issues; but again, for the sake of space and the fact that hopefully these writers have gotten better, the fanfiction has been cut out. Also included in this assortment is Krypton Club Special #1, which featured an article on Michael Landes vs. Justin Whalin.

TODAY'S QUOTE
Today's quote came from a conversation between Lois and Perry during one of the early episodes of "Lois & Clark." Lois was talking about Superman, of course.

SUPERHOT CAIN SIGNS MULTIFILM DEAL
This article was given to us by Soundsquaw. It was in the L.A. Daily News a few days ago:

Superhot Superman Dean Cain is signing a multipicture deal with a major
studio - after having turned down 10 offers to make feature films during his
current series hiatus.

"I've been very worried about making a mistake, about not rushing in and
signing for a film that would be a disappointment. But the deal I'm signing
sounds very exciting. I'll make two films during next year's series hiatus -
action films with Harrison Ford-type roles for me."

The former Princeton football star certainly hasn't been idle during his
current "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" break. "I'm always
pursuing other things," he said. The 28-year-old whiz kid - who has penned
several segments of his series and has ghostwritten seven feature films - has
two sitcoms and a weekly drama in development with his Off Camera
Productions. He also serves as creator, executive producer, writer, director
and host of ABC's July 31 special, "Off Camera With Dean Cain," which will
show him in a soccer playoff with "Melrose Place's" Andrew Shue; hitting the
slopes with "Home Improvement's" Debbe Dunning; and enjoying other sports
with such celebs as MTV's Dan Cortese and "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper's" Holly
Robinson.

Said Cain, "Lots of actors aren't that wonderful when they don't have lies
written for them - they tend to stiffen up. But the people I selected for
'Off Camera' aren't like that. You feel you're hangin' out with some really
cool people."

L&C POLL #3 RESULTS!
Since it's summertime and a new episode of "L&C" won't be seen until September, we were wondering... what episodes of "L&C" do you watch tapes of to relieve your LCWS? Well, here were your choices. And the answers are.....

FIRST PLACE (15 votes): "And the Answer Is." Is it the proposal that keeps the fans enthralled? Or is it the challenge posed towards Superman by Masick? Whatever it is, "ATAI" is a fan favorite, and it probably will be
for quite a while.

SECOND PLACE (13 votes): "Whine, Whine, Whine." This well-written episode not only focused on the Lois and Clark relationship, it also disposed of Dan Scardino (finally). It also revealed the truth in the Planet newsroom--Clark is the male bee, Lois is the queen bee, and Jimmy is the sexless drone. =^)

THIRD PLACE (9 votes): "Lucky Leon." Did people hate Mayson Drake that much, or was there a certain kiss that helped people to make their decisions? Another well-done fan favorite.

FOURTH PLACE (7 votes): "Honeymoon in Metropolis." Of all of the episodes of "L&C" from the first season, this one topped the charts. This episode could be credited as the first episode to really show off the sexual tension between Lois and Clark.

FIFTH PLACE (6 votes): "The Phoenix." Lex Luthor's return was a little less spectacular than what was expected, but who cares? Everyone knows the REAL reason this episode was so good is because Clark finally got up the nerve to ask out Lois.

"The Pilot," "Pheremone, My Lovely," and "I've Got A Crush On You" were close behind these 5 trend-setters, but one thing is certain--a good set of videotapes can cure LCWS anytime.

L&C POLL #4
Well now that we've gotten your favorite episodes out of the way, there probably still is one thing that still bothers you..... why is ABC showing reruns of episodes like "Bolt from the Blue" right now when they should be showing the GOOD stuff?!?! Meaning, which one episode of "L&C" do you think ABC should re-air sometime this summer, before the new episode starts? Send your responses in before Saturday, July 8!

L&C THIRD SEASON FILMING BEGINS JULY 12!!!!!!!!!!!!

TODAY'S L&C TOP TEN LIST by Aymee13662
Here they are, the top ten things that really bug Aymee13662 about Lois & Clark....

#10. Clark's glasses
#9. Two words: Dan Scardino
#8. The idiotic people that replaced Michael Landes with Justin Whalin
#7. Jimmy's cowboy boots
#6. I CAN'T MAKE DEAN CAIN MINE!!!!
#5. Lex Luthor hasn't broken out of jail
#4. Superman's not real
#3. The people that cast the same actor for two different characters
#2. Lois couldn't figure out earlier Clark was Superman
And the #1 thing that REALLY bugs Aymee about Lois and Clark:
The way they ended the season finale!!

KRYPTON CLUB LETTERS OF THE DAY
It's now time for the "Krypton Club Letters of the Day!" The writer of those letters will see his or her letters printed in their entirety in the Krypton Club Newsletter. There are no rules for winning Letters of the Day, because Craig and Dan arbitrarily choose the ones they like the best. The reason it's LetterS of the Day today is because we received two very good answers to today's trivia, and we thought it would be unfair to single one out. Here they are, starting with the letter we received from JBecky:

To whom it may concern (I guess that would be 92 and Craig),

Well, ya know, there's a couple people who have starred on L&C twice as two
different persons, causing you to go 'hmmmm'. You could kinda say Dean Cain,
since he does play two different people, Teri Hatcher, because of Madame Ex,
where she played Lois' double, or John Shea since Lex was/is two different
people, or the people who were in the b/w thing in Fly Hard, Sharon Thomas is
another. You're looking for Bob McCracken though, aren't ya? Oh well, extra
answers aren't bad or nothing, are they? What do I win? J/K This show is
kind of about personalities, isn't it? Clark discovering himself as Superman
and Clark. See, there's another similarity to 'Batman Forever'.

BTW, Craig, LOVED the fanfict. It was really funny how you had references to
other stuff, like the 'mysteriously morphing Jimmy' and Lois watching 'The
Love Boat'. I always knew CK would love 'Animaniacs'! =^)

-Joy

And here's the other Letter of the Day, which came from Dick Sidbury:

Leslie Jordan as William Wallace Webster Waldecker (aka Resplendent Man) and as the invisible man whos name I can't remember.

Also Tony Jay played a different guy on neverending Battle before becoming Nigel. Also Sharon ???? (Dean Cain's mom) played Mazie in GGGoH and the woman in the store that Lois fought for the atomic space rat in Seasons Greedings also bunches of others, such as <unknown actor> who played the first Metallo (the atomic powered version) and also the cop delivering Rollie Vale in Phoenix.

[Congratulations to both of you! Super answers! -- Craig]

TODAY'S TRIVIA
Here is the question for today.....

On "Seinfeld," who was first to touch Teri Hatcher's character's "gifts"--Jerry, Kramer, George, or Elaine?

The answer to yesterday's trivia question as to who has guest-starred on "L&C" twice, playing guest stars each time: Well, the answer we were looking for was Leslie Jordan, as guessed by Aymee13662, Karen 7, MAXMOUZE, Soundsquaw, BJPoirier, Lori Gorsch, BobaFettIV, Mr Fiz, and ClarkXX. Leslie played both the "Invisible Man" in the first season episode "I'm Looking Through You" and "William Wallace Webster Walldecker (The Resplendent Man)" in the episode "Bolt from the Blue."

But, there were several others who have appeared as two different characters on "L&C." Michelle Henderson and Soundsquaw pointed out that Sharon Thomas (Dean Cain's mom) has appeared on two episodes of "L&C." In "Green, Green Glow Of Home" she played Maisie, and in "Season's Greedings" she played the lady at the toy store that Lois got in a tugging match over the space rats with.

Brearley guessed Dean Cain. "He stars as two different people in every episode...doesn't he?," and Setauket John guessed "'Balki' from 'Perfect Strangers.'" While yes, Bronson Pinchot has been on "L&C" twice, he only played one character. Sorry. =^(

JBecky and Dick Sidbury get a ton of bonus points in the trivia department. To see what we mean, see today's "Letters of the Day." =^)

That's it for this newsletter! Hope you enjoyed it!

We Gotta Fly! See you on Thursday!

*****SUPERMAN92 AND CRAIG BYRNE, PRESIDENTS****
"IT'S TIME TO BRING OUT THE BIG GUNS!"

VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!! PLEASE READ!!
You may have noticed by now that today's newsletter is going out on a Wednesday. Why? Well, for starters, KryptonFX (a.k.a. Krypton, a.k.a. Craig Byrne) will be going on vacation, starting tomorrow morning. And secondly, there will be no newsletter on Sunday; however, Dan Patterson (Superman92) will be sending out copies of part 2 of the fanfiction, so you'll get your Krypton fix. Things will return to normal again next Thursday.

Hopefully, this will not inconvenience you in any way. And if you're wondering "Why doesn't Dan just send the newsletters out on those days?" it's for one reason: Craig likes a chance to look at the newsletters and send them out; he's picky that way. =^)

TODAY'S QUOTE
Today's "double meaning" quote came from "Fall of the House of Luthor," when Perry was talking about a way to thwart Lex Luthor's evil scheme. If you don't believe he said this, here is the exact exchange....

Perry: "It's time to bring out the big guns."
Jack: "Who, the police?"
Perry: "Naw, Lois!"

Believe it or not.....

So, we decided to start a poll to find out what you'd like to see. Unfortunately, so far we've only gotten TWO votes. (Thanks to both of you, you know who you are). Here are the results to date....

"Lois & Clark" (Pilot): 2

C'mon, there are more of you out there! Send your responses before Saturday, July 8!

L&C THIRD SEASON FILMING BEGINS JULY 12!!!!!!!!!!!!

TODAY'S L&C TOP TEN LIST by Taigre
Here they are, the top ten reasons why Taigre should get to be a guest star on "L&C":
#10. To get Dean&Teri's autographs

#8. Because I'm really bored this summer
#7. To meet some really great actors& actresses
#6. To find out how they make the Kryptonite glow
#5. To get inside info on what's happening next season
#4. She needs the cash to pay off my AOL bill
#3. To permanently relieve my LCWS
#2. To get "rescued" by Superman
And the #1 reason Taigre should get to guest star on "L&C"....
So she can convince them to have Lois find out that CK=S!

KRYPTON CLUB LETTERS COLUMN
The "Letter of the Day" segment has been dropped, because it really is unfair to play favorites when it comes to FOLCs. Today we have two letters for all to enjoy!

Hello Guys,

Great newsletter today!!! I did alot of laughing while reading this one.

In reguards to the poll, the ep. I'd like to see this summer is the 2 hour Pilot. I think this will be the winner of your poll. The reason I'd like it shown again is that I missed the second part. But thank goodness Chakes is making me a copy.

In reguards to the trivia question the answer is Elaine. This was one of my husband's favorite Seinfeld eps. It was a pretty funny ep. Teri did a great job with it, just remember "They're real and They're SPECTACULAR".

92, just want you to know that your story has me hooked I can't wait until Thurs. to find out what happens. I have found that fanfic has really helped me with LCWS, the only problem is that it's as addicting as watching the old eps.

I'm sorry that I babbled (I also babble alot. I know how Lois feels!)

Have a Super week!!!

Monique Hebert :)

["You're a brook!" Just kidding.... -Craig]

I would like to respond to the comment "a good set of videos cures LCWS". I am sorry, but this is unfortunately inaccurate. Videos can only treat the symptoms, but not cure the problem. The only cure would be NEW episodes, preferably ones that involve a realistic forward motion in the relationship between Lois and Clark. I hate to be so blunt, but LCWS could become incurable someday. :( In answer to the trivia question concerning Teri's real and fabulous *gifts* (this is a quote rather than my own opinion). Elaine had the dubious honor of initial physical contact. Gosh, were guys involved in coming up with this question. ( Really, was this your idea Craig?)

Does Clark save all of the buttons that he rips off of shirts when changing in a hurry -- and if so, does he make his mother sew them on for him?

Callina

[Caught me! =^p -- Craig, the admirer of real and spectacular things]

PSYCHO LETTER OF THE WEEK
Okay, so this is the only time we will EVER be doing one of these (I hope)... have any of you ever heard something that really shouldn't matter to you, but it makes you mad anyway? Well, here's one we got from JBecky... (and remember Joy, we're NOT mad at you; just messin' with you.)

Elaine, and she was the only one to touch the 'big guns'.
Of course, we all know the rest of them wanted to.
Jon gets to.
Aren't you guys jealous?
Does this sound like Beavis and Butthead?
Oh well.

-Joy

[Fine! Remind me! --Craig, who will NOT be seeing "Free Willy 2" (not like I was planning on it anyway)]

TODAY'S TRIVIA
Here is the question for today.....

What is the name of the newspaper in Smallville?

The answer to yesterday's trivia question as to which character on "Seinfeld" touched Teri Hatcher's character's "gifts" first was Elaine. JLerebours, PJLJT, Lisa Freedman, JCaylor472, Monique Hebert, Karen 7, Nareika, Callina, Dynasty8, Moonshade8, Sarah Gevlin, Krypto29, Susan Fullerton, Setauket John, GordNBarb, Lori Gorsch, Smiley372, Ad VanCian, APDill, and Chakespear got it right. Pontellier also got it right, even though she thinks it would have been even funnier if NEWMAN had been the first to touch Teri's character's "gifts," and Tommy Terenyi got it right, even though he wishes that HE was the first one to touch her "gifts." Clark XX guessed it was Kramer who touched them first, which was wrong, but it was still a good guess.

In response to the trivia question, Brearley said "Today's question is a toughie. I'm not much of a Seinfeld watcher, but I'll say it's Kramer, because as my mom always says "Big hair means a dirty mind." I have no idea what the hell it means, but she's always saying it. (P.S. I have huge hair. Wonder what she's getting at?) Anwyway, I just hope it wasn't Elaine. Then again, knowing the way that modern television is going to hell in a handbasket, it probably was."

We Gotta Fly! See you NEXT THURSDAY!

"YOU WANNA FLY LIKE HIM, AND I WANNA FLY WITH HIM."

SPECIAL NOTE:
This is a very special issue of the Krypton Club newsletter. Because co-president Craig Byrne is on vacation, we are not doing a full newsletter for today. It will be a little bit different. We also are sorry to say that there will not be trivia in today's newsletter because Craig has your responses stored in his computer at home. Also, please maximize your screen and save this newsletter or print it our because reading this on line could be costly.

TODAY'S QUOTE
"You wanna fly like him, and I wanna fly with him." This quote is from the episode, I'm Looking Through You. Lois would rather be invisible that fly. Lois is discussing with Clark how they both share Superman in common.

JIMMY #1 OR JIMMY #2? By JBecky
Okay, I guess you could call me a regular Lois & Clark fan, and I love the show, I really do, but something has bothered me for awhile (besides Lois not knowing). It's this Jimmy ordeal.
When I first saw Whalin in Madame Ex, I was like, 'uh, who is this guy? This week's villian?' than Lois called him 'Jimmy' and I'm like, 'uh, okay, I guess I accept that.' But, recently, while watching season one episodes (trying to relieve my LCWS) I started wishing Landes was a still a part of the L&C 'family'. Than as I watched more, I came to see that Whalin's Jimmy is played kinda stupid, and he irks me at times. The only time I appreciated Whalin's Jimmy is when he knocked Scardino over the banister.
Why was Landes cut out? 'Because his Jimmy was too similar to Clark Kent' was the official reason, I disagree. (What's wrong with an extra CK or two?) Now, CK, Jimmy, and Fish-boy all have the same hair. (In fact, most guys I know have that style.) If you stood Whalin, Landes, and Cain in a line fifty feet away, the only one I would be able to identify would be Landes. They also could have made that the problem of an episode. Say, at the start of an ep, Landes turns into Grunge-Man. L&C investigate and discover that Grechen Kelly (before she died) or maybe Lana Lang made a tonic that Jimmy drank, meant for Lois. So they get the antidote, but it doesn't completely work, so now he's semi-kule. This would have sovled ABC's problems (ABC sure does whine, whine, whine, doesn't it?) with a reasonable amount of realism, or as real as it gets on L&C, anyway.
Landes has (had) something Whalin lacks: class. Landes brought something to the screen I haven't seen since he left, a certain je ne sais quoi, a manner and actism that lacked second season.
But, it's not completely Whalin's fault. The writer's, gosh-golly, they've cut up Jimmy's lines into itty-bitty pieces, where the subject is neat-o stuff like a bad stereotyped Generation X-er, opposed to Landes' "smooth". Also, the James of season two is more.... flaky. He dates girls of all types, where Landes' Jimmy was just had that crush on Cat, and April [I think this was her name, the chick in Pheromone, ML.], but, girls, wouldn't you rather like that?
In conclusion, I think I could have come to accept Whalen, but the writer's screwed it up, and it will never be as it was in season one. While Whalin has done the best job he can as Jimmy, he will never be the true Jimmy that many of us picture in our minds....Michael Landes.

L & C SIGHTINGS
Justin Whalin appeared on Entertainment Tonight on Saturday, July 1. The show talked about his early career, his personal life, and his role on Lois and Clark. He replaced Michael Landes as Jimmy Olsen from the first season. When asked about this he said: "During the first three weeks of filming I was reading internet stuff and on line stuff and I thought, everyone hates me! But now the fans seem to have accepted me." Justin won an emmy early on in his career for a role in an ABC After School Special and has been in movies such as Serial Mom since then. He is now living with his girlfriend and his mom.
Clark XX has informed us that Tracy Scoggins appeared on the NBC show Leeza,
starring Leeza Gibbons. The theme for the show was health and nutrition.
Tracy fits that theme perfectly because she has a workout video and is an
avid bodybuilder.

L&C THIRD SEASON FILMING BEGINS JULY 12!!!!!!!!!!!!

"MY MOTHER MADE IT FOR ME."

KRYPTON ANNIVERSARY WEEK IS COMING!
Next week, the Krypton Club will be putting out it's twenty-fifth
newsletter... (bet you didn't think we'd make it so far, did you?). To
celebrate this occasion, the Krypton Club newsletter will once again be
daily... just for next week. In the week afterwards it will go back to it's
Sunday-and-Thursday format. Each weekday next week there will be something
to look forward to; Krypton co-president Craig Byrne is working on a 5-part
story (one installment per day), and each day there will be a character
analysis of each L&C character, as we see how the characters have changed
since the start of "L&C."

Next week is also something to celebrate because on July 12th, filming
begins for "Lois & Clark"'s third season.... and that means it'll be about
two months and all of the LCWS will be over (YES!!!!!)

So don't be confused, and we hope you all are enjoying the Krypton Club.

SPECIAL NOTES
Several people have still been having trouble getting their copies of the
Krypton Club Newsletter. To help remedy this situation, several newsletters
will be sent from the old AOL address. If in any event you have been
receiving TWO copies of the Krypton newsletter, write us about that as well. =^)

AOLers may have to open their mail window to its full extent to see more
even lines in the L&C newsletter. If they don't feel like doing that, they
can always print this up =^)

FANFICTION OR NO FANFICTION IN THE KRYPTON CLUB NEWSLETTER?
We got a letter from OSCARFAN the other day, and here's what he said:

"I'm more or less enjoying the newsletters, but would you please Please PLEASE
create a second list just for fanfic? Mere words cannot express how little
interest I have in reading fan fiction, and it makes the newsletters
unnecessarily long."

There already is a seperate, much larger fanfiction list out on the
Internet. However, the reason we have the fanfic because it gives people
something to look forward to during these sometimes boring summer weeks.
However, every opinion counts, so we want to know what the rest of you
think: Fanfic or no Fanfic? That is the question. Send your opinions to
the Krypton addresses.

TODAY'S QUOTE
Today's "very clean" quote came from "Tempus Fugitive." Tempus is making
fun of Clark's costume, whereas Clark makes the comeback "My mother made it
for me." Clark also says the very same thing in the Pilot episode of "L&C."

L&C POLL #4
Well now that we've gotten your favorite episodes out of the way, there
probably still is one thing that still bothers you..... why is ABC showing
reruns of episodes like "Bolt from the Blue" right now when they should be
showing the GOOD stuff?!?! Meaning, which one episode of "L&C" do you think
ABC should re-air sometime this summer, before the new episode starts? So,
we decided to start a poll to find out what you'd like to see.
Luckily, we've gotten a FEW more responses.... You still have two more days
to respond. Here's what people have said they'd like to see (so far)....

"Lois & Clark" (Pilot): 11 "Madame Ex": 1
"Lucky Leon": 2 "Tempus Fugitive": 1
"The Phoenix": 2 "Top Copy": 1
"And The Answer Is....": 2 "Whine, Whine, Whine": 1

So far, the Pilot is flying high over the other episodes! Remember, you can
still vote! Send your responses to Krypton@clark.net, KryptonFX@aol.com, or
Krypton92@aol.com before Saturday!

L&C SIGHTINGS
Soundsquaw tells us that the fall series "Dweebs" not only stars Farrah
Forke (Mayson Drake), but also Peter Scolari who played Stuart Hofferman in
"The Source".

Beverly Gray adds a correction to some info in our last newsletter that
"Dweebs" is on CBS this fall, FRIDAYS at 8:00PM. She adds that CBS is
looking for a new title for the show... DWEEBS just doesn't cut it :}.

Beverly also says that Deborah Joy Levine (Exec Producer L&C 1st Season)
has a new show on CBS this fall. COURTHOUSE will air Wednesdays at 10PM
Eastern. John Shea (Lex Luthor) makes ocassional appearances.

TODAY'S L&C TOP TEN LIST by Craig Byrne

#9. What if.... Lois's "brief romance" Claude returned?
#8. What if.... Lois Married Lex Luthor?
#7. What if.... Jack had revealed C.K.'s Identity to the World?

#4. What if.... Clark Kent didn't have super-powers?
#3. What if.... Mayson Drake had lived?
#2. What if.... Clark revealed his true identity to everyone?
And the #1 "L&C" What If....
What if.... "L&C" had never been?
(dozens of FOLCs shudder at the thought and go into a state of shock.)

KRYPTON CLUB FANFICTION #3
Since this issue is already long enough as it is (with the many letters and
the Trivia controversy), there is no fanfiction in this issue of the Krypton
Club Newsletter. However, you can look forward to a FIVE-part fanfiction
coming next week to the Krypton Club Newsletter, followed by a story by
Kaytee Shultz the following week!

TODAY'S TRIVIA
Here is the question for today.....

A seventeen-year-old Dean Cain appeared in what film over ten years ago?

And now, an announcement regarding last Thursday's trivia question.....
What is the name of the newspaper in Smallville? When this trivia question
was made, the people involved in choosing the question did not realize that
there is actually more than one answer to this question. You see, the
continuity cops were sleeping (why am I not surprised?) and let the name of
the Smallville newspaper slip by. So, here are the answers people gave, and you
decide whether or not they are correct:

Lois Lane, Beverly Gray, JLerebours, No1BRET guessed that it was the
"Smallville Gazette." OurCousin guessed that it was the "Smallville
Record," and MattLC, Pam Jernigan, XFMulder1, Lori Gorsch, and Tommy Terenyi
say it was the "Smallville Press." To top it all off, Soundsquaw and
LisaMob said it was the "Smallville Post." Some people went so far as to
offer their own interpretations, like JBecky, who said "the name(s) of the
Smallville newspaper is a hole in the plotline. If you are an avid watcher
(as I am), you will notice that in the Pilot, Clark tells Perry he worked as
Editor-In-Chief (I think) for the Smallville Press, but in Man of Steel
Bars, (right before he kissed Lois), he told her
he was going to work as Managing Editor for the Smallville Post."

L0303 said "The name of the paper in Smallville is (drum roll) The
Smallville Post. Clark worked there as managing editor for awhile, before he
decided to travel the world. When he was going to leave in the first
season,he told Lois he was going back to work there (which,we all know was a
lie, but that didn't stop him), and then he stayed and they all lived
happily ever after ... okay, maybe not ... I'll stop babbling now ... ;)"

Chakespear said that "the name of the newspaper - well, if you'll check your
old eps -
initially, Perry reads from Clark's resume that he was editor of the
Smallville Press.
Then, in Man of Steel Bars, Clark says he's leaving Metropolis to go be
managing editor of the Smallville Post. (Post, Press, what's the diff.,
right? Just some continuity editor's mistake I guess) BUT, there IS no one
answer to your question. Guess I get to win the award for
anal-retentiveness, or extreme generosity since I noticed it the other day
while recording eps for someone. :-)."

Finally, Aymee13662 summed it all up: "Smallville Gazette, or Smallville
Press, or Smallville Journal. I know, let's have fun (you fill in the blank)
The Smallville __________________"

So which one was it? Not even L&C's writers seem to know for sure....
anyways, we're sorry we asked such a CONFUSING question.

KRYPTON CLUB LETTERS COLUMN
JBecky's "Jimmy vs. Jimmy" article in Sunday's newsletter seemed to strike
quite a contraversy. We received several letters on the topic. Here is one
letter supporting, and two letters against Whalin.....

Subj: Jimmy vs. Jimmy
Date: 95-07-04 00:06:35 EDT
From: LoisLnKent
To: Krypton92

Hi Dan. I've been mulling this over all day since I read my copy of the
Newsletter this morning. I am trying to be a good girl and not get sucked
into the controversy about Michael Landes vs. Justin Whalin again. You and I
have discussed this many times already and agreed to disagree. However, many
people read your Newsletter who are new to L&C and, at the very least, new to
the AOL group of FOLCers. JBecky, you are entitled to your opinion and I
respect that, but I feel compelled to offer another viewpoint to the one
expressed by you.

>>When I first saw Whalin in Madame Ex, I was like, 'uh, who is this guy?
This week's villian?' than Lois called him 'Jimmy' and I'm like, 'uh, okay, I
guess I accept that.' <<

I wasn't that shocked because I knew a few weeks before the start of the
second season that Landes had been replaced. I agree, however, that it
seemed strange seeing somebody else play Jimmy, when I had only seen Landes
playing the role.

>>I came to see that Whalin's Jimmy is played kinda stupid, and he irks me at
times.<<

I don't think Whalin's Jimmy is stupid. He is very laid back and more
animated than Landes. I loved Landes in the role, but I felt at times that
he seemed stiff and uncomfortable. Jimmy is a young guy who wants to be a
photographer. Working at the Planet, he doubles as a researcher and support
person to the Planet's top investigative team. Occasionally he gets to do
what he really wants - which is photography.

>>Why was Landes cut out? 'Because his Jimmy was too similar to Clark Kent'
was the official reason, I disagree.<<

I agree with you here. I don't buy that bit about him being too similar to
Clark Kent. (Actually I think what they were saying is that Landes really
looked too much like Dean Cain.) I'll never know the real reason Landes was
replaced, but I personally feel that part of the whole switch was to rewrite
the role. I personally didn't like the way they had changed the role of
Jimmy the first season. Jimmy was always a photographer. The Landes Jimmy
didn't get to do much of that. Instead, they made him a journalist also
(starting in All Shook Up) and then what were they supposed to do with him?
He obviously couldn't compete weekly with Lois & Clark. They had to reset
the character, and that would have been difficult to do with the same person
playing Jimmy. I'm not trying to say that is why they replaced him, but I
think that's part of the big picture.

>>Landes has (had) something Whalin lacks: class. Landes brought something to
the screen I haven't seen since he left, a certain je ne sais quoi, a manner
and actism that lacked second season. ... The writer's, gosh-golly, they've
cut up Jimmy's lines into itty-bitty pieces, where the subject is neat-o
stuff like a bad stereotyped Generation X-er, opposed to Landes' "smooth". <<

I hate the "Generation X-er" phrase, and I hate when *they* say Justin is
one. What does that mean??? Does that mean he's within a certain age group?
Then the press should say that and quit trying to be cute with coining a new
phrase. (Sorry, I just had to say that.) I agree with you that Landes was
smooth. (I can still see the Landes Jimmy telling CK, "Smooth" as he flashed
that smile!) His character had a lot of class. But I disagree that he was
more classy. I don't necessarily agree with the writers all the time about
the lines they write for Justin to say as Jimmy. They don't let Jimmy show
that he's classy, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't have class. I don't
like his clothes, but his character shows class every week. He's always
respectful, supportive, helpful and he always keeps his mouth shut about
what's going on. That's class. I don't get the impression that Jimmy is
shallow or dumb. He's a young guy who's trying to learn his trade in the
newspaper business.

>>In conclusion, I think I could have come to accept Whalen, but the writer's
screwed it up, and it will never be as it was in season one. While Whalin
has done the best job he can as Jimmy, he will never be the true Jimmy that
many of us picture in our minds....Michael Landes.<<

Justin Whalin earned my respect and acceptance of him as Jimmy when he cried
in That Old Gang of Mine. Any actor who can cry on screen wins my vote as a
qualified actor. It's strange for me now to go back and watch some of the
first season eps because it seems strange to see Michael Landes as Jimmy.
It's fair to say that Whalin will never be the Jimmy that Landes was, but
that's OK. He's the Jimmy that Whalin is and that's OK with me. Personally,
overall, I like the new Jimmy. He's the traditional photographer that Jimmy
always was, with the additional twist as being the researcher and all around
person who is there to advance the plot for Clark and Lois <g>. But I agree,
he has to get rid of "Ned" in the third season! <g>

JBecky, I appreciate that you are loyal to Michael Landes and his portrayal
of Jimmy Olsen. I also appreciate that as evidenced by the last paragraph,
you have accepted Justin Whalin as Jimmy - even if you don't like it.

However, I couldn't let your comments go unchallenged. I just had to voice
the opinion of those of us out here who think that Justin Whalin deserves to
know that he's a good actor and that many of us really like the way he
portrays Jimmy.

[Now here are two letters from two VERY interesting characters....]

Subj: Re: "You wanna fly like him, ..."
Date: 95-07-06 10:07:16 EDT
From: KryptonFX
To: KryptonFX

Dan and Craig,

Whew, I just got back from vacation and a TON of mail, and I read the
newsletter. I agree with JBecky about Justin Whalin. Why? Let me
explain...

I think ABC was playing us for idiots when they recast the role. I think it
would have been fine if they had started out with Whalin and stuck with him,
or if they had replaced the Jimmy Olsen with an entirely new character, like
Jack. (Suddenly I feel a pack of angry Jack-haters coming after me). Or,
they could have had Justin playing a character like "Timmy Olsen" and said he
was Jimmy's cousin or something. That way there would be room for Landes to
return, and also the character of Jimmy wouldn't suddenly "change" the way it
did.

It was very unfair to Michael Landes for them to go and replace him the way
they did. Michael seemed to have a great chemistry with the L&C cast,
especially Lane Smith when he was in character as Perry White. Sure, Jimmy
Olsen of season one was a dork, but he was SUPPOSED to be a dork, and he was
also a funny dork. Jimmy #2, well, there's nothing cool about him (except
for when he threw Scardino down a flight of stairs.)

I am not trying to diss Justin Whalin or anything. He is an accomplished
actor with an Emmy to his name. He does try very hard to make Jimmy Olsen
work. But in my opinion, Michael Landes is and always will be Jimmy, and he
was something "L&C" lacked through the past year.

Craig

Subj: Letter for NL
Date: 95-07-06 17:30:00 EDT
From: Krypton92
To: Krypton@clark.net, Krypton FX

As I was reading through the last newsletter, (very well done by the
way), I was compelled to write to the two presidents of the club, Dan
Patterson and Craig Byrne(both great guys). I think that Joy said it right
when she wrote the article about Jimmy. Michael Landes was the original
Jimmy of the 1st season. To me, everything about him said "Jimmy." The
hair, the clothes, and the way he spoke. He was great and he did a
wonderful job of playing a supporting character.
Then Justin Whalin replaced Michael Landes after many changes were made
on the show. ABC said that Landes looked too much like Dean Cain. Yeah
right, can you picture Landes in some tights and a cape? At first Justin
Whalin really ticked me off. Not only the way he acted, but the way the
writers had changed the image of Jimmy. He was now trying to be a "cool"
Jimmy, and in my opinion was failing. Over time I have learned to accept
Whalin as Jimmy Olsen. He plays the role the best he can with what the
writers have given him. Lately he has been doing a pretty good job.
Although Ned has to go! Whoever does the wardrobe for Justin is really
hurting his image! I agree with Joy when she so elegantly said, "He will
never be the true Jimmy in our minds." <G> Michael Landes will always
remain the person I envision as Jimmy; and a perfect Jimmy Olsen he was.

KRYPTON CLUB NEWSLETTER****ISSUE #24****JULY 10-11, 1995
*****SUPERMAN92 AND CRAIG BYRNE, PRESIDENTS****
"GET YOUR OWN DAMN COFFEE!"

KRYPTON ANNIVERSARY WEEK IS HERE!
Tomorrow (actually later today), the Krypton Club will be putting out it's
twenty-fifth
newsletter... (bet you didn't think we'd make it so far, did you?). To
celebrate this occasion, the Krypton Club newsletter will once again be
daily... just for this week. Next week it will go back to it's
regular Sunday-and-Thursday format. Each weekday this week there will be
something to look forward to; there's the fanfiction story "A Tale of Two
Jimmys," a
five-part story that will be told one installment per day; and each day there
will be a character analysis of each L&C character, as we see how the
characters have changed since the start of "L&C."

This week is also something to celebrate because on Wednesday, filming is set
to begin for "Lois & Clark"'s third season.... and that means it'll be about
two months and all of the LCWS will be over (YES!!!!!)

So don't be confused, and we hope you all are enjoying the Krypton Club.

APOLOGY TIME!
You're probably receiving this on Tuesday morning... sorry about that! It's
Craig's fault (as usual!)

A WALK DOWN MEMORY LANE by Superman92
Over the course of the past two seasons, Lois Lane has changed
dramatically. While a few characteristics have always stayed with her, there
were many changes in her attitude and her emotional dealings in the second
season.
When Clark Kent met Lois Lane in the very first episode, she was pushy,
tough, and clever. She asserted herself as a very strong, capable and
hardworking woman. As Lois said it: "You are low man, I am top banana!
Comprende?" One thing is for sure, she has kept her competitive nature.
Whether it's scrabble, "There's no such word as chumpy," or getting a top
story, Lois has always gone for the win! "I win, you lose, we're both
happy."
Lois also had a sensitive side however. This was very exposed when
she watched the soap opera "Ivory Tower" in the pilot and was crying while
wearing glasses(which were never worn by her again). She also started to
show her feelings when she met and fell in love with Superman.
Throughout most of the first season, Lois kept her defenses up. She
wouldn't let anyone get close, unless it was a tool to get a scoop. Although
she made an exception for Superman. By the end of the first season, we saw a
more open and happy Lois Lane. She was ready to tell Clark how she felt, and
to accept him into her life and let those barriers down. Unfortunately, the
writers let Clark cross his fingers which caused the second season to start
back on square one.
When the second season started, the question that was in all of our
minds was, "When will she get a clue?" The show had gone through one whole
season, and yet Lois had not even begun to figure out that Clark was
Superman. Lois was becoming more and more stupid, or "flakey" as some fans
put it, with each episode. A top investigative reporter can't even figure
out that her partner is a superhero? Even when Clark would disappear with
terrible excuses about a video or a cheese of the month shipment, Lois didn't
investigate or even ask about it. Probably the most frustrating to fans was
when Clark would leave and Superman would immediately show up. It took until
the end of the second season for her to see the light and many of us feel,
"It's about time!"
Also during the second season, Lois became very sensitive and started to
express her feelings towards Clark. Although accepting Clark as more than a
friend and letting down her defenses was part of the character development,
it seems that the pushy and aggressive Lois has disappeared that we all knew
in the first season. I can't complain though, because I am happy that the
romance in the show is progressing. Lois and Clark also represents that
"opposites attract." Lois is from a divorced family, Clark is from a typical
TV family. Lois was raised in the big city, Clark was raised in Smallville.
Clark is honest(about everything but Superman), while Lois lies quite often.
And there are many more examples.
Lois Lane has changed over the past two seasons, some were good changes,
others were bad. Teri Hatcher has done a superb job with the part and the
many feelings Lois has gone through. "My mind is so conflicted!" As we look
to the future, we can hope that the writers will keep the Lois that we all
have grown to love, and develope the romance of the show further. We can
also look back at quotes and episodes such as, "Don't fall for me farm boy, I
don't have the time for it," and think, "my how things have changed." Lois
Lane will always be the ultimate figure of intelligence, talent,
competiveness, and ironically.....stupidy. But it is that same "blindness"
that attracts many of us to the ironic love triangle that makes Superman and
Lois Lane so famous.

SPECIAL NOTES
Several people have still been having trouble getting their copies of the
Krypton Club Newsletter. To help remedy this situation, several newsletters
will be sent from the old AOL address. If in any event you have been
receiving TWO copies of the Krypton newsletter, write us about that as well.
=^) Still, remember to tell us if you miss your newsletters for some reason
(and just a note--there was no Sun. 7/9 newsletter).

AOLers may have to open their mail window to its full extent to see more even
lines in the L&C newsletter. If they don't feel like doing that, they can
always print this up =^)

L&C ON TNT?!?! by Craig Byrne
Rumors are spreading that "Lois & Clark" has been picked up to be shown in
syndication on TNT, starting in 1996... I talked to Chuck Saftler (head of
programming at the fX cable channel), and he tells me that TNT is in
negotiations, but nothing is solid yet... follow the Krypton Club newsletter
for more information as it becomes available.

WELCOME!
Welcome to new members Nitin Kasturi, Ben Teng, Piro17, Karl Kingston,
Debbie Moller, and Jenn Farwell! Welcome to the Krypton Club! Every time
when you get a piece
of e-mail with a L&C quote as the heading, that's your indication that the
Krypton Club newsletter is there! All of you are welcome to participate; the
Krypton Club newsletter is COMPLETELY INTERACTIVE! Thanks again for joining!

FANFICTION OR NO FANFICTION IN THE KRYPTON CLUB NEWSLETTER?
We got a letter from OSCARFAN last week, and here's what he said:

"I'm more or less enjoying the newsletters, but would you please Please
PLEASE create a second list just for fanfic? Mere words cannot express how
little interest I have in reading fan fiction, and it makes the newsletters
unnecessarily long."

So we asked you, the Krypton Club members, what YOU thought of the fanfic.
The majority of you would like for fanfiction to stay in the newsletter, as
it gives you something to look forward to. Some people suggested a seperate
fanfiction list; which would be fine, except for the fact that it's enough to
send out daily newsletters, let alone a fanfiction list if there was one.
Two or three people suggested that we drop the fanfiction entirely; that
would not be a good idea because, in the words of Dick Sidbury, "If you
decide to drop the fan fiction, I'd like for you to contact me so that I can
tell you about the junk that I don't like so you can remove it<g>," so, we'd
probably end up without a newsletter. <G>

MAN OF STEEL....MAN OF MORALS? by Superman92
No one can deny the fact that Superman is a moral figure. He was
raised in Smallville, Kansas and instilled with traditional American values
at an early age by his parents Jonathan and Martha Kent. Clark and Superman
have always done what is right and have always been "good." Lately, however,
Lois and Clark has been leaning toward a less moral Superman and Clark Kent
as they try to make the relationship "for the 90's."
The first incident that bothered me took place in "And the Answer
Is..." Clark was forced to rob a jewelry store to protect his parents and
get them back from Mazic. The writers basically took 57 years of Superman
being the peak of goodness, and threw it out the window. Although he was
forced to do it in the show, I think the writers shouldn't have put him in
that position in the storyline.
What upsets me the most is that the show is moving towards having Lois
and Clark sleep together before they are married. Superman is suppose to
have values, and a very traditional and moral value is to wait until you are
married to have sex. Although it is becoming rare in these immoral 90's, I
feel that it would be the right thing and the moral choice if Lois and Clark
waited. Some people have suggested that Clark isn't a virgin so it wouldn't
matter. But so far there has been no evidence that he has ever "done the
nasty."
Although he did date Lana back in Smallville, the show has never given
any inference that their relationship went that far. And others say that
Clark's little jokes that refer to sex, such as "you like to be on top,"
suggest he has had experience. Anyone can make jokes about it without
experiencing it. Lois mentioned in the pilot, however, that she had slept
with a french man to get a story. This is the only reference out of the
episodes that Lois has made. It is a little more understandable that Lois
would not be a virgin because she was raised in the city, and not under the
same circumstances as Clark. Although I do feel it would have been better if
the writers would have left that part out of the pilot. It was inconsistent
too, because in the season finale of the first season Lois tells Lex she is
glad he understands that she wants to wait.
Some people feel that it would be fine if they slept together if it was
done "tastefully," or if it was done so that children would not understand.
I feel it should not be done at all. What really worries me is that both
Dean and Teri are pushing for Lois and Clark to sleep together sometime in
the third season before they get married. I feel that Superman is a moral,
good, and traditional character and should maintain his high moral upbringing
and standards by waiting with Lois until they are married.

TODAY'S QUOTE
Today's quote was used to celebrate this day of Anniversary Week, "Lois Day."
This quote came from Chi of Steel when Lois had a dream about Clark, Jimmy,
and Perry being very sexist. Cindy Jones suggested that today's quote would
be "Men are pigs," but some people might take offense to that, so we didn't
use it.....

L&C POLL #4 RESULTS
Have you been wondering why is ABC showing reruns of episodes like "Chi of
Steel" right now when they should be showing the GOOD stuff?!?! Meaning,
which one episode of "L&C" do you think ABC should re-air sometime this
summer, before the new episode starts? So, we decided to start a poll to
find out what you'd like to see. And here's what you've said....

FIRST PLACE (14 votes): "Lois & Clark" (Pilot). This episode blew all of the
other eps away! So will we ever get to see it on ABC again? Hopefully, the
powers that be will decide to give it an encore presentation.... they should
show all of the newly-gained FOLCs "how it all began".... or, to quote
BJPoirier, "There are a lot of new FOLC's out there that didn't catch the
L&C fever until the second season and it would be nice for them to see what
caught the eyes of the older FOLCs."

SECOND PLACE (three-way tie, 4 votes): "The Phoenix," "Tempus Fugitive," and
"And the Answer Is." People like the "Phoenix" because C.K. finally got up
the guts to ask Lois out.... way to go, Clark! All of you will be happy to
know that that episode will re-air on Sunday. =^) People like "Tempus"
because it's so far-out, yet so interesting... many people are willing to
forgive for the lousy ending. And, fans like "And the Answer Is" because it
would serve as a great lead-in for next season.

THIRD PLACE (tie, 3 votes): "Lucky Leon" and "Whine, Whine, Whine." One is
popular because it disposed of Mayson, the other is popular because it
disposed of Scardino. 'Nuff said.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the poll!

L&C POLL #5
A contraversial subject is whether or not Lois and Clark should have sex
before they are married. Several people (apparently including Teri and Dean)
believe that L&C should do the deed; several others (like the Krypton club
presidents, Dan and myself) believe that Superman is a "moral guy" and that
would ruin things if L&C decided to "do it" before they're married. So what
do you think--should Lois and Clark do it or not? You have until Thursday
night to respond! Send your responses to Krypton@clark.net,
KryptonFX@aol.com, or Krypton92@aol.com!

KRYPTON CLUB ANNIVERSARY CHAT ON THE IRC
To celebrate the fact that the Krypton Club will reach 25 issues on Tuesday,
there will be a special Krypton Club Anniversary Chat that night on the IRC
(Internet Relay Chat). You'll need to use the Undernet, and the room will
be #Krypton. The chat will be on Tuesday at 9:30PM EST. Be there! If you
can't find it, send a message to the name "Krypton" (that's Craig).

And don't worry, AOLers--a frequent Krypton Club chat on AOL is being discussed.

L&C IN THE MEDIA by Clark XX
These articles came from the Orange County Register last week....

Dean Cain, a part Japeanese actor who plays Clark/Superman in the ABC hit,
"Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," said in Yolk, a magazine
about Asian Americans: "'Lois and Clark' internationally is huge. I mean,
it's just giant. It's the No.1 American Show in 10 different
countries....Which is great for Warner Bros., and for me and for my
exposure. For feature films they place a tremendous amount of credibility
in an actor if they do well on the foreign market."

"HATCHER AND HER SUPERMAN"
It's almost a Fortress of Solitude. Teri Hatcher, who plays Lois Lane on the
TV series "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," is honeymooning
at remote, private Wakaya Island in Fiji.
She and her husband Jon Tenney, are spending a month at the luxury
resort island, and access to 32 beaches, the Daily Post Newspaper said
Tuesday.

L&C SIGHTINGS
Put this down as a non-sighting. Dean Cain was a "no-show" for the Jim
Thorpe Sports Awards on Saturday.

TODAY'S L&C TOP TEN LIST by LienanhD and LisaMob
Here they are, the top ten quotes on "L&C...."

it is a duck."

TODAY'S TRIVIA
Here is the question for today.....

Justin Whalin appeared on what popular 1980's sitcom for one season?

The answer to yesterday's extremely easy trivia question: A
seventeen-year-old Dean Cain appeared in his father's film "The Stone Boy"
over 10 years ago. Among other things, he was only on for about a minute
before his character got shot in the head. Michelle "Lois Lane" Henderson,
Karen 7, CanDEACAIN, Turk152, Mr Fiz, JBecky, MarthaRB, Unicorn772, NCC17LU,
MattLC, Lisa Freedman, Lori Gorsch, PJLJT, Jenny Becker, KB4UMASS,
MarthaRB, and Chakespear all got it right. Krypto29 guessed "Cave Boy" as
the name of the film. Close, Krypto....

KryptonFX@aol.com! Please be aware that some, but NOT all of the mail we
receive is printed in the letters column; and if you specifically do not
want something to be printed, please say so.

JBecky's "Jimmy vs. Jimmy" article in Sunday's newsletter still seems to be
the topic of discussion. Here's what people have said about it since Thursday....

Hi. I wasn't going to do it, but the next letter sucked me in to the Whalin
vs Landes thing. I think Landes was THE Jimmy. He was naive and funny, and
cute. Whalin is annoying at times. I have come to live with the fact he is
now Jimmy, but when he cried in That Old Gang of Mine I was disgusted. (He
was sadder than Lois was.) I saw Micheal Landes in an episode of Robin's
Hoods, a stupid, sleazy show. (I really hate that show.) But Micheal Landes
was watchable and you really felt for the poor guy who had his baby
kidnapped. I could go on and on but I won't. It seems that all we have left
of poor Micheal Landes' Jimmy are his legs flailing in the opening credits.
Sigh.
Sarah
P.S. I can't seem to remember the name of episode in which the
perfume makes everyone fall in love. Please help me out. It will drive me
crazy.

[The episode was "Pheremone, My Lovely." --Craig]

Craig & Dan
In issue 22 I thought I had your Trivia question right and e-mailed you with
my answer The Smallville Press. When the next issue finnaly came I was
disgusted to find my name not on the list of people who answered the trivia.
(This is not the first time this has happened to me.) But in the place where
my name shoud've been I see the same names I see weekly in the newsletter. I
have also sent you the best cure for LCWS TWICE and haven't seen a word of it
in the newsletter.
The newsletter is slowly losing my intrest as the same people are always
geting their stuff printed. With tons of members you should try to print
different peoples letters not always the same peoples opinion.
A tired FOLC,
Tok

[Tok.... believe us that the omission of your correct answer was not done on
purpose, and the Krypton Club does not play favorites. We apologize for not
running your answer (as we said, it was an accident). However, on to your
cure for LCWS... would you believe, we just haven't gotten around to it?
(As for those who were wondering... the best way to cure LCWS is to write to
Teri and wait for a response... it worked for Tok. =^) ) We apologize for
any problems you have had, and would like to continue to have you in the
Krypton Club. We REALLY don't mean to leave people out. --Craig]

And here is a comment on the "fanfiction debate"......

My vote on this subject is YES, YES, YES. Your fanfic is the whole
reason I signed up for your newsletter in the firstplace. I friend
of mine kept telling me how good the Krypton Newsletter fanfic is.

So, let the guy who has no interest in fanfic skip over it. I am
sure that there are parts in the newsletter (and I'm not picking on
this newsletter,) parts in any newsletter that someone would rather
not be there. He has a mouse, let him use it to scroll down and he
can read the parts that do interest him.

Myself, I am mainly interested in the fanfic and skip over some of
the other stuff.

Here's another opinion on the fanfic debate....

Subj: Fanfic debate
From: BJPoirier@aol.com

I think I'd rather not see the fan fic in the newsletter. I subscribe to the
fanfic email group already and the reason this newsletter was of interest to
me was primarily the news. However, if it continues, it certainly won't kill
me. I read it anyways :-)

Thanks,
BJPoirier@aol.com

And this letter regards last Thursday's very confusing trivia question..........

Subj: Trivia question
Date: 95-07-08 12:00:14 EDT
From: Turk152
To: Krypton92

First, I want to say something about last week's question. All of you people
that were smart enough to start watching right from the pilot got hung up on
clues from the first season. However, I was dumb enough not to start
watching until season two so the only source I had was in Tempus Fugitive.
When L&C first go back in time to Smallville, Lois looks at a newspaper stand
which clearly shows the title as "Smallville PRESS". Sorry I didn't write
last week but I was away at Woodstock, NY on vacation.
Now, on to this weeks question. As the owner of a video store, I not only
know the answer, I've seen the movie! (It is a great one BTW.) It's called
"The Stone Boy" and was directed by Chris Cain. It stars Robert Duvall and
Glenn Close as the parents of Arnold (Jason Presson) and Eugene (a very young
Dean Cain who die within the first 6 min. of the film).
Last of all I just wanted to say you both do a great job of running the fan
club and getting out info to all. Also your fanfic was rather decent for
what you said was your first trys. Keep up the good work.
Sue(Turk152)

[Thanks Sue! And remember, even though you missed those first season
episodes the first time around, there's always home that someday "L&C" will
be in syndication and seen every night! --Craig]

That's it for this newsletter! Hope you enjoyed it! If anyone would still
like copies of the John Byrne or Roger Stern interviews, e-mail
KryptonFX@aol.com and I'll gladly send you a copy. I am really sorry to all
of you who have been waiting for them; you WILL get them--eventually! In
fact, to stop the continuous procrastination of KryptonFX, Krypton secretary
JBecky will have those available soon! (But not yet!)

We Gotta Fly! See you TOMORROW! =^) (actually, later today--again, sorry
this was late!)

KRYPTON CLUB NEWSLETTER****ISSUE #25****JULY 11, 1995
*****SUPERMAN92 AND CRAIG BYRNE, PRESIDENTS****
"SUPERMAN IS WHAT I DO, CLARK IS WHO I AM."

THE KRYPTON CLUB NEWSLETTER HITS #25!
We made it! Twenty-five issues are already out of the way! It seems like just yesterday (actually, it was two and a half months ago), we were putting out our first newsletter. Thanks to everyone for your support of the Krypton Club!

To celebrate the occasion of our anniversary, the Krypton Club newsletter will once again be daily... just for this week. Next week it will go back to it's regular Sunday-and-Thursday format. Each weekday this week there will be something to look forward to; each day there will be a character analysis of each L&C character, as we see how the characters have changed since the start of "L&C." Yesterday spotlighted Lois, today spotlights Clark.... expect to read about Jimmy, Perry, and Clark's parents later this week!

This week is also something to celebrate because on Wednesday, filming is set to begin for "Lois & Clark"'s third season.... and that means it'll be about two months and all of the LCWS will be over (YES!!!!!)

So don't be confused, and we hope you all are enjoying the Krypton Club.

CLARK KENT: MILD-MANNERED REPORTER, OR MAN OF STEEL? by Craig Byrne
When Clark Kent first came to Metropolis, you know he had to have felt like an outsider. Even though he had travelled around the world, Metropolis was a brave new world for him. Ma and Pa Kent weren't there for him anymore. Eventually, Clark got a job at the Daily Planet newspaper, and made a few new friends and acquaintances--DP managing editor Perry White, gossip columnist Catherine "Cat" Grant, and young photographer Jimmy Olsen. But it was Lois Lane who would end up effecting his life the most. In the early days, Clark could not help but feel invisible to Lois. Lois would constantly swoon over CK's alter ego, Superman, making Clark feel as if he had created a monster. Luckily, Lois soon began to accept Clark, and they soon became good friends. When Lois almost married Lex Luthor, that was what it took for Clark to reveal his true feelings for her. (Unfortunately he did that "Fingers crossed" thing that I won't get into, because it was galactically stupid). As the second season progressed L&C became closer and closer. By "Season's Greedings" you knew they were destined to become a couple. Clark finally asked Lois out in "The Phoenix," and they soon began dating. There were quite a few speedbumps on the way, most notably Dan Scardino, who Lois had a brief "thing" with. Clark came out on top, though.... when Lois had to choose, she chose Clark over Scardino, and Clark soon ended up proposing to Lois, and Lois has finally given up on the Superman fantasy and gone after Clark.

Clark is now faced with the dilemma of whether he should tell Lois the truth about Superman or not. He has tried (and failed) on numerous occasions. But one thing is for certain, Clark has changed from the "outsider" to something totally different. How he will change in the next season is yet to be seen.

SPECIAL NOTES
The letters column and the people who answered the trivia questions are
missing tonight. AOL decided to have a "Stack fault" right in the middle of
the time the newsletter was being done. UGH! Sorry about that....

TODAY'S QUOTE
Today's quote was used to celebrate this day of Anniversary Week, "Clark Day." It sums up the Clark situation best. This quote came from "Tempus Fugitive" (a GREAT episode if you're looking for quotes) when Clark was trying to explain to Lois which persona was more important to him.

L&C POLL #5
A contraversial subject is whether or not Lois and Clark should have sex before they are married. We asked what you thought, and here's how you responded:

Yes: 2 No: 8 Undecided: 2

So what do you think--should Lois and Clark do it or not? You have until Thursday night to respond!

Which two "Daily Planet" staff members are distantly related?

The answer to yesterday's trivia question: A young Justin Whalin was a regular on "Charles in Charge" for one season. Unfortunately we cannot tell you exactly who got this right, because #%$$%$ AOL had a "stack fault" and the file disappeared, and your mail had already deleted! So, for next time send your answers and trivia guesses via e-mail, and we apologize to everyone who got it right.

We Gotta Fly! See you TOMORROW! =^) Thanks for sticking with the Krypton Club!
