Flash
Project Dead; Dark Shadows Lives
It seems as though the proposed
new TV series based on DC Comics' Flash is not going
to become a reality. For more on that, visit Kryptonsite's
Flash page.
On the bright
side as far as pilot development goes, the remake of Dark
Shadows, which has a pilot episode written by Smallville's
very own Mark Verheiden, has been approved to go ahead with
shooting a pilot. That doesn't guarantee the series will happen,
but it is a sign that the script was good enough to take it
a step further. For more on the new Dark Shadows, visit Barnabas
Undead.

Reviews "Delete!"
The website MediasharX.com
has posted their review of this week's new Smallville.
Here's
a taste of it:
"I'm
so glad the Lana/Clark relationship is moving beyond the weekly
get mad/make up roller coaster it was on for so long. Having
Adam as a new love interest for Lana is a good move...I just
hope that he doesn't just turn out to be another Kryptonite-using
freak so that Clark can save her again and they can get back
together. It's time to move on.""

Those wacky

Martha's e-mail address being CNH320@instamail.org. "CNH320"

Three
Smallville Guests In Fall Pilot
Missy Peregrym (who appears in
"Delete") and Sean Faris ("Nocturne")
will both be starring in the ABC pilot "Doing It,"
which should be filming soon. If the series gets picked up,
it would be airing in Fall 2004. The series, a drama, will also
feature Kelly Osbourne (yes, that Kelly Osbourne)
and Marguerite Moreau, who played "Carrie Castle"
in the Smallville episode "Drone."

Enterprise
Flies Away From The Competition
Special
thanks to: Rich W.
Fed up
with having to fight with shows like Smallville as competition
on Wednesday nights at 8, UPN has decided that Star Trek:
Enterprise is going to beam on over to an hour later timeslot
- at 9PM - starting in March. In its place will be a computer
generated series called Game Over and unaired episodes
of The Mullets.
Many thought
that Enterprise would be Smallville's biggest
competition in the timeslot - when really, Smallville
almost doubles the UPN show's ratings every week.

American
Idol Sends The Apprentice Away
Could Smallville Be Next?
Special
thanks to: B.J.
NBC, which
had its new hit reality series The Apprentice stepped
all over by FOX's juggernaut American Idol, has moved
Apprentice to Thursdays at 9, far away from the ultra-competitive
Wednesday at 8 slot. For the next few weeks, reruns of Apprentice
will take the Wednesday spot, with the new episodes remaining
on Thursdays.
The WB has
been pretty quiet in their press releases and such about what
the new Idol has done to Smallville's numbers. For all
we know, they could be happy being next to last. We here at
KryptonSite are going to repeat ourselves again and say we hope
that the "Easyview" comes back, or at least that the
last two episodes will be re-aired sometime soon so those who
missed them can see what they missed.
Smallville
is heating up with exciting new storylines - but it won't do
much good if everyone's more interested in seeing Simon's insults!
We will keep you updated if we hear anything.

MediasharX
Reviews "Whisper!"
The website MediasharX.com
has posted their review of this week's new Smallville.
Here's
a taste of it:
"So
Clark has spent some time wearing glasses, and the whole secret
identity idea is one step closer. You could practically read
the thought bubble above his head at the end when he looked
in the mirror (Hey, I look a lot different when I have the glasses
on. Perhaps I could one day use it as part of a disguise...)
before Lana interrupted him. Maybe next week he'll get out of
the pool with a red swimsuit and a red and yellow towel wrapped
around him and catch a glimpse of his reflection in a mirror.
Joking aside, I actually enjoy it when they throw in little
glimpses of the future Clark/Superman, and they've been really
good at sprinkling them around without overdoing it. Except
for the fact that he seems to be foiling crimes every week..."

Loeb Returns for the Christopher Reeve Episode!
KryptonSite has learned that the
writer of the upcoming episode guest starring Christopher Reeve

is currently wowing fans in comics-land with Superman/Batman
- one of the best titles on the racks today!

Attention
Smallville Fans In Central Indiana: Delayed Show For
You
Special
thanks to: Hope
Hope has
brought it to our attention that Central Indiana's WB4 is planning
on pre-empting Smallville for Pacers basketball for almost
every Wednesday night through the end of February (with the
exception of January 28). They plan on showing the series instead
at 10PM, but be sure to set your VCR for a little bit before
or a little bit after, as the basketball game could run over.
The new episodes of Angel will follow.
And a note
from KryptonSite's webmaster to WB4 and others who have this
practice of showing this basketball garbage: You're not doing
your network any ratings favors or getting yourselves more fans.
At least WB4 in this case is showing the episode on the same
night. It's certainly annoying, though, for fans in the Central
Indiana area.

Kristin
Kreuk Talks About Edgemont
Special
thanks to: Gizmo
Many fans
might not know that Smallville isn't the only TV series
Kristin Kreuk has starred in for the past few years.
Before Smallville,
and in a run which ended just recently, Kristin starred as Laurel
Yeung in the Canadian CBC series Edgemont.
Kristin recently spoke with the Vancouver
Sun's Lynne McNamara about doing the show, how she's stayed
grounded, and said this about her friends:
"I've
made some new friends that are actors, but not very many. I
try to keep my world as stable as I can. My friends are awesome
-- they've done amazing things with their lives and they've
come so far and I'm so proud of them. And I can live through
them," she says.
You can
read the complete article here.
Sadly for American fans, Edgemont hasn't aired here in
a few years; it does, however, appear in most of the rest of
the world.

The
Futon Critic Likes Smallville: Three Episodes Hit The
Top 50
Special
thanks to: Dee
The Futon
Critic website recently looked back at website creator Brian
Ford Sullivan's top 50 episodes to air on television in the
year 2003. Sullivan (no relation to Chloe) had a review of "Perry"
in particular which sums up our feelings on the year. "Perry,"
written by Mark Verheiden, came in at #11:
"About
as perfect as "Smallville" has ever been, especially
in terms of acknowledging the big white elephant in the series:
Clark (Tom Welling) will one day be a reporter for the Daily
Planet, wear tights and be Superman. It continues to amaze me
that Warner Bros. is trying to get a Superman movie off the
ground when this generation's Superman is already out there.
Do us all a favor: let the show run its course and hand the
movie franchise over to Alfred Gough and Miles Millar."
'Nuff said.
Also making the list were "Rosetta" at #22 and "Exodus,"
the second season finale, at #35. Click
here to read the entire top 50.

Wonder
Woman Reference In "Asylum": Photographic Evidence!
Special
thanks to: JediAxis and Aelora
An eagle-eyed
viewer noticed a shoutout to Wonder Woman comics in the January
14 Smallville. Here's what he saw:
"In
the scene where Jonathan Taylor Thomas ("Dichotic")
brings in the magazines and files to Lex's cell, he shows him
that he will be scheduled for shock therapy. As he is leaving,
there is an issue of the Daily Planet in view, but partly covered
by the file holder. The headline reads: THEMISCYRAN QUEEN ADDRE
------------- TICAN. I would guess that without the cover it
would say ADDRESSES THE VATICAN."
Aelora made
a screen cap of this which you can find by clicking

Somerhalder's
Series Fearless DOA
The WB confirmed today at the Television
Critics Association 2004 Winter Press Tour that the Rachael
Leigh Cook series Fearless, which was to be produced
by Jerry Bruckheimer and include upcoming Smallville
guest Ian Somerhalder, just couldn't come together.
Ian's Smallville
run begins with the January 14, 2004 episode. ince he's not
busy next season, we would say "now he can be Bruce Wayne,"
but sadly it doesn't look like that's happening, since he'll
be a different character. So, Ian, we have two words for you:
Barnabas Collins. Regardless of what happens, his
fan base will make it certain he'll be a busy man come Fall
2004.

New
Issue Of Smallville: The Comic Now on Sale!
To prepare us all for "Asylum"
(airing next week), DC Comics will be releasing the sixth issue
of the Smallville comic book series today, January 7.
Here's how DC describes the issue:
"Lex
and Clark star in a story that explores their fears of telling
the truth! Lex finds himself on the psychiatrist's couch explaining
his time lost at sea, while Clark is put in a situation in which
he must use his powers to save Lana from a criminal. Plus, the
tumultuous love life of Pete Ross is spotlighted in a back-up
story!"
The
issue is said to bridge some gaps between "Shattered"
(the last new episode, which aired in November) and the new
story "Asylum" which airs on Wednesday, January 14.
Stories
in the issue are written by Mark Verheiden and Clint Carpenter
and interior art is by Tom Derenick, Adam DeKraker, and Kano.
Cover price is $3.95, and you can find them in all good comic
book stores today!

Great
New Tom Welling Article In The Calgary
Sun
Special
thanks to: June & Brian
The Calgary
Sun has recently posted a new interview with Tom Welling online.
Inside he
said some encouraging news about his Smallville contract.
""I'd be willing to extend that contract as long as
he stays in Smallville," Tom said. "I have no interest
in playing Clark Kent in college, Clark Kent in his first job,
Clark Kent becoming Superman or Clark Kent going into retirement."
He also
addresses the whole movie thing. "There definitely have
been conversations but my schedule makes it impossible for the
movies to happen for me. Those are big movies with big commitments
and I have such a small window for feature films on Smallville
that it just isn't possible."
Finally,
Tom, ever considerate of his wife Jamie, had to say that regarding
having children he is "only responsible for the fun part
of having children. Jamie has to give birth so it will be up
to her as to how many children we actually have. We aren't talking
children just yet but having a family is a given."

within.

Smallville
Featured As A "Show You Can Watch Together" In TV
Guide
Special
thanks to: DC
The latest
issue of TV Guide (with Mark Harmon on the cover) features
Smallville on the "Shows You Can Watch Together"
page. Here's what they had to say:
Tall
Buildings? No problem. Adolescence? That's a little trickier
for Smallville's Clark Kent.
On the way to becoming the Man of Steel, Clark Kent was galvanized
by small-town virtures and the unconditional love of his adoptive
parents, Jonathan and Martha. That's the Superman mythology
as we knew it before WB's Smallville began to embellish it
so deliciously in the fall of 2001. Now, three seasons into
this richly layered fantasy adventure, we know Clark is actually
deeply conflicted about his destiny- and about the road that
will lead him there. (This was cleverly laid out last year
in an episode featuring Christopher Reeve as an astrophysicist
who filled Clark's head with visions of ruling Earth.)
Tom Welling plays Clark as just confused and rebellious enough
for a teenage audience to completely buy: He's incredibly
handsome yet can't quite keep hold of love Lana (Kristin Kreuk),
the tiny damsel so often in distress. He's a shy farm boy
who once tore off on a growling motorcycle for a wild time
in Metropolis- under the influence of red kryptonite. He has
unintentionally caused heartache for his wise, worried parents,
a couple who have literally kept him grounded so he can grow
into the extrodinary man he'll someday be. Smallville is super,
man.
The latest
TV Guide is now on newsstands. Also inside is a "Close
Up" writeup of "Asylum," with details you can
already find on the KryptonSite
Spoilers Page.

Annette
O'Toole And Michael McKean Perform!
Annette O'Toole (Martha Kent) and
Michael McKean (Perry White in "Perry") performed
some of their music at The
Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles, California on Saturday, January
3rd to a packed venue.
Annette
and Michael performed two songs from "A Mighty Wind,"
including "Potatos in the Paddy Wagon" and the Sattelite-award
nominated "A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow." They
also did a song from their upcoming Disney album; Annette and
Michael both performed solo, including a very charming little
song called "Tea-Cup Puppy;" they performed together,
with some songs written by some of the greats as well as some
of their friends; and they even did a song or two that would
be considered on the risque side!
The entire
crowd seemed impressed with the range exhibited by both of them.
Here's hoping Annette and Michael release an album of their
own at some point. If they do, you'll read about it here!

Michael Rosenbaum in People
Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) is seen
in a one-page profile in the January 12, 2004 issue of People
magazine.
Inside he
compares the party scenes of Vancouver vs. Los Angeles. "In
L.A. there's a party here and a party there," he says.
"In Vancouver it's like, 'I think the Canucks are playing
on Thursday'." The article did say, however, that Michael
savours the leisurely lifestyle up north.
Also in
the article - Tom Welling reveals Michael's favorite 80's tune.
You'll have to buy the magazine (now on sale!) to find out what
it is. All we're saying is Rick Springfield would be proud.

MediasharX
Names Smallville "Best Veteran Drama" of 2003
Special
thanks to: MediasharX
The website
MediasharX.com
has named Smallville their Best Veteran Drama for the
year 2003. Here's some of what they had to say:
"In
its third season, the writing team has, aside from criminal
misuse of Pete (or lack thereof, rather), managed to distribute
the acting and story load more evenly, spreading narrative butter
over the bread that is this wonderful cast. We continue to wonder
where exactly Gough and Millar will go after Clark, Lana, Pete
and Chloe graduate highschool, but until then, we salivate for
each plot-advancing new episode. That is, until we get another
episode like "Redux."
