Ep 3.6 - Relic
What is Clark's connection to the death of Lana's Aunt Louise back in 1961? How are Jor-El and Mayor Tate connected? A story spans two eras as a mystery is solved.

I liked this episode. I tohught it was cool that Jor El and Hiram Kent met and that might of had something to do with why Clark ended up finding his way to Jonathan and Martha.

i loved the whole idea that Jor-el was actually on Earth in 1961. and that he fell in love with Louise because it showed that he had some human traits. this is one of my favorites of season 3!

I can't stand Clana but I enjoyed this episode for the mythology aspect of it. Seeing Jor-El back on earth in 1961 was very cool and I also like the tie in with the Luthors. Strange though that Lana has all of these dead relations/ancestors who resemble her exactly.

This episode shows that Clark was destined to be found by the Kents.

I think this is one of my favorites of the series. It wasnt really important when it comes to the over all story of the season or the story but its such a fascinating episode. Very well written.

Question: why didn't Jor-El just superspeed to the caves after Louise's murder instead of getting help from Hiram Kent?

The idea of having Jor-El walk the streets of Smallville was interesting, but ultimately, it just feels like Clark and Lana played dress up and made out a few times. Jor-El mentions having a destiny that he can't change, but the show has yet to delve into what that destiny was. We also fail to see Clark's curiosity about his biological father extend beyond the second act of this episode.
It was fun, however, to see Lionel squirm when Lex brought up the tenemant fire near the end of the episode. It was funny to see him react with faux anger when Lex tells him his parents were murdered. |

I didnt like it at first as I generally don't go for flash back episodes, but eventually it grew on me. I loved seeing Jorel as well and how the Kents didnt accidentally find Clark.

I loved seeing tom welling in the 1960's clothing. very nice. I just loved the whole 1960's era in this episode, because the 1950's-(early) 1960's is one of my favorite eras. i love the clothing style and sweetness of it!
I thought it was cute when in one of the flash backs the song "earth angel" was playing. so sweet! this whole episode just made me so happy! |

My favorite episode of this season,
even though I'm so anti clana. I agree, Lana had beauutiful clothes, 1950s is totally my favorite era. I agree with "dressing up and making out," And the lack of chemistry between Louise and Jor-el kind of bugged me, (they met for one day and suddenly decided they were in love.. sounds like the romeo and juliet kind of love, which is kind of lame.) But I love how it was filmed, the lighting and 50s music was great. And the side story with Lex's past, It just seemed so much like the three's (clark, lana, lex) lives were all destinies intertwined getting ready to be lived out. Haha, yeah, Lana has many ancestors that greatly resemble her. |

I actually didn't like this episode much at all.
First it felt so contrived to work Jor-El visiting Earth into Superman lore. Second, it felt like they were trying to hard to parallel Clana with his father. Third, I could tell that Tate was the killer from about five seconds after he was introduced. (Go back and watch his expression in that first flashback scene. so obvious!) And finally, while the story has been changed in Superman lore many times I have always felt that Jor-El only loved one woman in his life and that was Lara. This almost felt like an insult to Lara's memory (in fact, at first I was screaming 'you cheating bastard' at my TV until I realized Jor-El was there pre-marriage). So no, I didn't like this eppy at all. Except for the flashbacks at the Kent farm. Those were cool (Gene Autry?! )

I LOVED IT SO ******* MUCH!
By far the best/second best episode in history of smallville. I loved that Jor-El visited Earth and the Kents connection. I still get a kinda rush when i hear the last sentence said by clark: - I dont think i was sent here by accident. EXPLAINED EVERYTHING. And Jor-El seeing Jonathan Kent before he was born, kinda shocked me. (In a good way) The kinda made the relationsship between Jor-el and Jonathan so much more special. God, i love it! ![]() BTW: There was someone asking about why he hid at Hiram Kent instead of goind straight to the cave, its becouse Hiram Kent first threatened him and Jor-El overmanned him and took the gun nut didnt shoot. Then he saw some understanding by Hiram Kent and he wanted to stay there for a while since he liked the company. Wich lead to Clark being sent there becouse he assumed that the son of Hiram would be as nice. And so it happened and he was right. Let me round it up in one sentence: AWESOME EPISODE. MOST UNDERRATED EPISODE IN THE HISTORY OF TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, that was two sentences, whatever.

"Where I'm from we have colors you've never seen. Our sunsets last for hours, and our moons are so close together they fill up half the sky."
This line, that scene, and the music in the scene make this one of the most underrated SV episodes ever. I loved it. |

I love any episode with Jor-El. It's nice to see him in person in this one. This is my favorite episode. I'd love to see more Jor-El visits in the future if they could do it somehow.

Jor-El was waiting to be picked up to go back to his planet, he didn't arrive in his own ship. He was attempting to stay out of everyone's way since he was a wanted man. He then ended up at the Kents. One of the quotes from the show gives the clue: Hiram: "You sure these friends of yours will show up?" Jor-EL: "Yeah, they'll be here." |
