I was a bit iffy on how Kandor would turn out but I really enjoyed it, there were some plot holes but I think this story line would have worked out better than some of the original arcs during the seasons they aired

I was somewhat disappointed that the reunion lasted for mere seconds but upon further reflection, it was probably the right thing to do. That said, here they are, best to worst:

1) Season 5: Splinter
2) Season 9: Kandor
3) Season 7: Wrath
4) Season 8: Identity
5) Season 4: Jinx
6) Season 6: Rage
7) Season 3: Magnetic
8) Season 2: Lineage
9) Season 1: Craving

I actually understand the reunion. It fuels Clark's anger toward Zod and whoever killed his father because they robbed him of getting to know him. It was a great call on the writers part.

Kandor came close to challenging the greatness that is Identity, but not quite...

Sgruthie you are absolutely right. Kandor came close but not close enough. On my second viewing I liked it better but there are few things that make the episode feel weird:

1. The retconns (which are not quite bad you can easily avoid them with time travel but why bother)

2. The short reunion (it would have been perfect if it lasted a bit longer no need of two scenes but the one we got had to be longer.)

3. The naive Jor El - We always think of Jor eL (AI Jor El) as a master manipulator which he has proven himslef in the past. So seeing Jor El in Kandor being so mild mannared like Clark it just didn't feel right. I know they did it only to relate to Clark in character but still it wouldn't have hurt if he had sort of an agenda of how to stop Zod (OK maybe he had with that scene where he is leaving or taking something).

4. That being said it's a wasted opportunity that he didn't meet the AI Jor El (since he was so not-manipulative) it would have been a great contrast but... damn.

5. All being said this storyarc would have delivered the best if it was split in two episodes so it could have incorporated some elemnets like longer reunion, discussion between Jor El and Clark about the Kandorians, Jor El meeting AI Jor El.

So basically this episode suffered from the same things that bother most of the episodes in SV, and that's shortage of screentime! And that's the greatness with Identity - it just delivered everything it had to in one ep. Well Kandor had the flashbacks so blame it on them but still I will dare to say: IF ONLY IT HAD BEEN SPLIT IN TWO EPISODES I WOULD HAVE DECLARED THEM AS BEST OF THE SERIES.

Loved "Kandor" but had to vote for "Lineage", which has a permanent place on my SV top ten. Beautiful scenes between Clark and his parents and Blair Brown was a great guest star.

Is Lineage the highest rated ep in SV history? I think I remember reading that somewhere.

kandor holds up because season 9 is turning out to be like an epic superman movie and kandor is where the action really starts to aramp up. this episode was more like an action adventure movie then a tv show about clark`s younger years

Lol kidding. I voted for Identity. One of my favorite episodes of S8. Kandor was a very good episode too but Identity got my vote. It had Lois in it.
