Hi triplet,
Great review as always! I agree, it was very much a by-the-numbers FoTW affair. As you say, though, Meyer and Septien wove in a lot of character work - particularly the 'shipper drama - and managed to move the story forward. You say that you "wish they had explained [Graham's] power a little more". Did you think this was necessary? I found myself saying "Who cares about this stuff?" when we cut from the street at the beginning to Graham offing the witness in the cell. It might have something to do with the guy's smarmy portrayal of the Chameleon (as you say, the performance was "less than successful"), I'm not sure, but I felt the guy was in the same boat as Simone: be there for arbitrary drama, serve your purpose and help to move the plot along, then get written out ... Harsh, I know, but I guess that's how the formula works. Yeah, the Lois foreshadowing stuff was definitely laid on "a bit thick". I found it surprising that you then said you found Lois "endearingly abrasive". For me, the entire Lois concept is about hinting at "Superman & Lois being an Item in Metropolis and Lois being in love with Superman and Clark being Superman and ..." ... You get the idea, I'm not a fan of it! Do you have any views on Lexana? Do you think it works? I was very sceptical, but I think it's working very well. The tone of the "I missed you too" was very spooky - I think maybe the music helped. But despite that, the chemistry between KK and MR is so palpable, Kreuk brings out such a delightful on-screen enthusiasm for this new relationship her character is in, and Rosenbaum brings out such a genuine sensitivity in Lex, I just have to say well done to both of them! Like you say, Rosenbaum is definitely "doing a good job playing the different sides of Lex". Re: "the depths he is willing to stoop to". I dunno, I felt that on the basis of this episode, his intentions weren't clear. For all we know he could have been manipulating Fine and intending to do good (as the AOL Blog hints at ...), and he could have been hiding his connection to Fine from Lana - why else? - TO PROTECT HER! The Clana/Lexana parallels abound ...
