Yeah, I couldn't get anything either.

ETA: Okay, it's working now. I liked how in the review she mainly concentrated on the three lead's death scenes since that was really the most interesting and important part of the episode. I liked this bit:

Quote:
The after-life experiences of the three main characters, and the interactions they had with their deceased loved ones, were highly revelatory. It showed a remarkable insight, I believe, into the psyches of Clark, Lana and Lex. Their different reactions to basically the same experience was not only character revealing, it also advanced their character arcs quite a bit.
I definitely agree that the after-life experiences were so strong and character revealing that they helped to really strengthen the episode as a whole.

I must say Triplet that this review changed how I felt about this episode.

I just absolutely did not like this episode. I just couldn't seem to get over the lame ass krypto story plot. HH has to be one of my least favorite writers. She stretches my suspension of disbelief too much.

However, with your insight into the significance of each afterlife experience, how it characterize each person, and how the lighting also added to this, I do see now that this a good character episode afterall. So now I'll want to go back and watch the episode again.

You know, I hated the lame krypto stuff as much as most people probably did. I love the show, but jeez... they do the krypto-babble every week. You'd think they could do it better than this, but HH does do one thing very well: she knows how to write the characters.

I think how she had them handle the near death experiences was close to brilliant actually...

Some people have slammed HH a lot but I like most of her work, even Facade has some nice things to it. Her best krypto-freak episodes were the ones with Alicia: Obsession and Pariah but even Pariah had Tim in it. Probably one of the lamer krypto-freaks....

The thing is with the krypto-freaks and unique ways non-freaks find to use kryptonite is that even lame ones can often be used very well to serve the greater story.

Yeah, Lance and Ally were kinda lame and the serum wasn't really explained well and how Clark was revived wasn't explained well at all (Why didn't he just say: I think I woke up because my dad pushed me back...) but the three leads' experiences were some great writing.

I wish she could turn that skill she obviously has into crafting more creative kryptonite inspired plot points....

NOTE: I forgot to mention in my review how much I HATED Martha's lipstick in that scene with Lionel. Loved the dress, loved her hair, but that flat scarlet clashed with the rest of her make-up and didn't do her any favors. Totally unflattering.

Oh, well... I don't usually mention make-up and hair much...
