Is Triplet the ONLY reviewer?

I guess I am not the only one. I am getting a little tired of reading how wonderful every episode is... when they are not that great.

Cyborg was just okay.

The acting was okay, with the highlight being Lee Thompson Young, John Glover, and, strangely, Kristen Kreuk. Tom was apparently preoccupied with something other than acting.

The storyline was okay, with the highlights being Lionel setting up Martha with a fake blackmailing scheme to draw her closer and Lionel's "Kal-El" statement. (I still say he is NOT Jor-El.)

The special effects sucked! Were they out of time? A 3 second jump, and a 2 second x-ray vision moment. The rest of the "special effects" consisted of already bent doors, an already smashed Lana-mobile, and Clark backing up into fake bricks.

Bottom line - it was a filler. More Clana nonsense. More rifting between Lex and Clark. More of the Magnificent Bastard doing evil stuff under the control of Jor-El or Brainiac or Daffy Duck. Who knows! Let's just move forward.

Rating - 2 out of 5. 1 point for the "Kal-El" line and 1 point for the producers/writers/TPTB giving Kristen Kreuk a chance to act without being possessed, infected, or becoming a vampire.

Hmmm... well, you are certainly entitled to your opinions but when I love an episode I don't mind gushing about it and there was very little (if anything) wrong with Cyborg in my mind. It was a nearly perfect episode.

Overall, I haven't had too many problems this year, my lowest grade this year has been a three I believe, but I've graded several lower last year.

But I would like to point out that the purpose of this thread isn't to bash me. The purpose is for people to share what they feel about the review, not the reviewer.

For me, personally, what I want to hear is how your opinions differed from mine.

Saying it sucked and that I'm a kiss-ass doesn't help anyone and makes me sorry I take the time.

I got a busy life and getting bashed personally in these threads makes writing reviews for Craig a lot less fun. I don't get paid for these, all of your sarcasm aside.

I do it because I love the show and think I have something to say about it. Maybe I can even help people see good or bad things about episodes that they didn't maybe notice before I pointed them out.

If you seriously have a problem with my reviews, take it up with Craig. otherwise maybe you should not read them from now on. I will continue to gush when I feel it's warranted and with this episode, I felt it was very warranted for reasons I stated in my review.

You know, I'm not coming back to this thread anytime soon. I got better things to do with my time than sit here and be bashed.

Uh guys? Keep it to the show and do not attack posters. Triplet didn't deserve that. Back to the regularly scheduled program here folks. Discuss the episode, not the poster; common rule that must be obeyed at all times.

I think triplets review was decent. The episode had many good points and it also had its lows, but thats just how life is. TW is becoming a great actor and he'll go far in life. As for MR, he played a great lex in this episode too, its the start of his evil side coming out. I think Triplet had a good review

I think that the episode was really good....and I loved the ending. The one thing about triplets reviews that I like is that she talks about the lighting and the camera views and the director, etc. The reviews are more about the acting and the story line. Thats why I look forward to the reviews every week after a new episode.

I'd have to agree with you. Most people don't realize it, but alot of tv shows and mysterys of the short, all give off little clues that most people don't pick up. It could have to do with teh lighting effects or the simple way you interpret a scene. I think the way that triplet states the lighting and the moods gives a good interpretation for the people that can't pick it out on thier own.

The episode was another "blah" episode for me. See - for me, most of them have been blah. Excessively optimism or excessive pessimism does get annoying, but remember this folks, Triplet is giving you her opinion, OPINION of this episode. Mine would differ, as would yours. I applaud her for putting herself out like this.

Most of the episodes this year have been C's. Thirst was a F----------------------. Hidden was an A. Lexmas was an A because it was fun. Reckoning was a C. Vengenance and Tomb were Bs, and this one was a C. They're better then S4, but that's not saying much. But stop bashing the reviewer - and talk about the REVIEW!

I enjoyed reading Triplet's review. She made me like the episode even more! Also, she agreed with one of my thread about how it was a nice touch that we at least got to see the "Teen Titans Cyborg" through the x-ray vision. Good stuff!!

I like your reviews triplet, mostly becuase i agree with you. But, you forgot about Clana. I thought this was pretty much what the episode was about, and you left it out. This could be why people didnt like the episode becuase it was about Clana. Is it over or not? I think so, but isnt what Lana wanted or was she pulling a Chloe season 2 premiere? Looks like she is getting the same result like Chloe. Hope it makes sense cuase i am in a hurry.

I always look forward to your reviews, too. I always enjoy that you weave your enthusiasm for the show into the technical details that you highlight. I usually come away from your reviews a happy fan, enlightened about details I missed and waiting to see what's coming next.

I also thought the directing was outstanding in this episode, and where it stood out for me was the dialogue through facial expression. Looks that were exchanged were clear in what they said, and that is not always the case. I just hope they build on what those expressions said.

My one quibble was in the editing. The last scene with Lana and Clark was missing something that felt edited out. Maybe they just wrote it that way, but it needed something more for it to make more sense, and to make a Clana loft scene go beyond yet another angst scene.

And I also would have liked Clark to slap down something truly incriminating about Lex's involvement in the Cyborg project rather than something vaguely incriminating.

My quibbles are minor, though. I am really enjoying this season (well, except Thirst). Thanks for your point of view.

Hey, Triplet. Good job on the review. There are times when I think you're a bit too kind (such as Thirst, and a great deal of season 4) but on the other side of the spectrum, there is an online critic for a superman page, and he hasn't said very nice things about this show in a while--and that kind of gets old.

I agree across the board on this one! 5 of 5!

Another beautifully writen review Triplet. On every single point that you have written about I will agree to. The guest star, Lee Thompson Young, was excellent as a distressed Cyborg, John Glover gave another excellent performance, the storyline, directing, and technical aspect of this episode was truly, perfect.

Too all those who think that Triplet is doing nothing but "sucking up" to the Smallville writers, seriously. Have you even watched the same episodes as we have? This has got to be some of the best stuff that the writers of Smallville have ever come up with. Furthermore, the acting in these recent episodes have been absolutely spotless, masterworks, some of the best stuff I've ever seen from actors and actresses, on the TV screen or on the big one in the theatre.

I'd like to applaud you, Triplet, for really emphasizing that Clark/Lex tension. Excellent work once again for really bringing that out and telling everyone that that tension, that eventual loathing between them is finally coming out. Great job.

The only gripe I really find about this episode is the Clark/Lana interaction. Although they did an excellent job showing that the two are, indeed, drifting very far apart, I was dissapointed that they didn't so such a good job executing it.

Still, overall, brilliant review, Triplet. Keep writing them so I have something to agree with.

I think it was pretty much obvious it was over but I probably should have mentioned it in my review. As for the Clana stuff, I guess I just didn't have anything I wanted to say about it.

I can't really give you any better answer than that as far as the relationship in that scene.

As for the scene itself, I should have mentioned the weird ending... I'll admit that it was an odd choice to have Lana just walk off but it didn't really bother me all that much, I thought it just meant she was walking away from the relationship so maybe it is over...

Perhaps Clark and Lana have both come to terms with it being over even if they haven't made it "official" yet. I try to avoid any shipping comments in my reviews for the most part. I got reamed last year for liking Spirit as much as I did, despite the awful "A" story, but I thought the dance at the end was terribly romantic. And I'm a romantic (if you haven't noticed) even if I don't really "ship" anyone...

Lana's walk down the stairs was a nice slo mo sequence, however, so the guest DP did a beautiful job shooting that scene.

NOTE to everyone:

Thanks for coming to my defense. It's nice of ya'll to do that.

I had a lousy night at work last night at a job I'm not really enjoying as much as I used to so getting bashed in here on top of that made for a very depressed triplet.

Thanks.

I know my opinions aren't always popular ones but I hope I usually state my case for why I think the way I do about something so that you can understand it even if you don't agree with it.

Of course, triplet.

There are elements of your reviews that have me nodding enthusiastically, such as the entire review of cyborg, and others that do not, such as the criticism of the creepy twins in Mortal.

Mind you, I am an identical twin. I'm a 29 year old college teacher, and so is my brother. I'm full time, he's an adjunct. We both work in the media production and communication area. It can be VERY confusing for the student.

Having said that, I don't mind the 'creepy twin' element, if it's handled well (such as, IMO, Mortal) and not poorly ('Kindergarten Cop,' 'The Snapper,'--well, most television programs).

But your reviews are something I look forward to (hence, when you were ill a few weeks back, I created the 'Where's the Triplet Review?' forum). Keep up the good work.

I too liked your review. As for the Clana, I too wouldn't have much to say either, all I got was that he can't make her happy and he expected it to end. I also like Lionel's first scene in them making him angelic, I noticed that too. All in all, a really good show, not a "on the edge of your seat" show, but having all the components you want to see. Hidden was "on the edge of your seat" show and they all can't be like that.
