I usually disagree with a point or two from your reviews (not much, relatively) but I couldn't disagree with anything you said here. You made points about things I myself thought were outstanding elements of the show when I watched it, such as the depth of acting from Annette and Tom.

It was hard to write for some reason and I was worried it wouldn't read well, so I'm glad you guys have liked it.

Another good review, Triplet. I disagree on one point only. I don't see Lois's feisty confrontation with Lex as purely gratuitous. I see it as a sign of her loyalty to the Kents. But I do agree with your points on what made this a great episode. For me, what is wonderful about this ep lies mainly in its execution rather than its story line -- although the story is good. But I was most struck by the dialogue, acting, directing, and camera work -- all superb in creating such moving scenes. It is also one of my favorites of the season, and of the series.

Trip, well done. After these good reviews for some really good episodes, I may forgive you for your review about the abomination known as 'Thirst'.

However, I was also a little confused by your stance on the Lexis friction. Not only is Lois abrasive to begin with, she's the one who, in Blank, told Clark to "trust his gut". She's not a deep thinking girl - she's impulsive and tends to just launch into things haphazardly. Considering she didn't even realize that Lex Luthor was signing her paychecks, I think it's safe to say that this is one of those times.

I have always enjoyed your reviews and the comments on obvious points missed for continuation purposes. I am suprised that you didn't mention anything in reference to the lack of lana in this episode being that last episode Clark nearly snapped her in two. Not that they had to show here to have a good episode (not a lana hater at all) but at least a quick mention of her....like she is still recovering at the hospital or been relocated to metropolis for tests..anything would have been nice.

Great Review though!!! Keep up the good work!!

Not bad at all, although what's to say Brainiac has been destroyed? I suspect he will return soon enough, perhaps even more powerful than we've seen so far.

Let's not forget Lex basically tortured, and almost killed her honey Aquaman in "Aqua". Who wouldn't want to be snide to him.

Well, she's been working on a movie and maybe needed a break...

It didn't bother me and I'm not sure it means anything other than she was taking the episode off.

Didn't I say "apparently" destroyed?

I know he's coming back...

Well, I still found it forced... I didn't think her explanation made much sense more than anything else that may (or may not have) been going on.

I think Lois is a great character and I love her spunk, snarky and kick ass anything in my way attitude!

I loved the banter between Lois and Lex!

Lex "Muffin peddling college dropout"

Lois "He called me a muffin peddler!"
Chloe laughing "Oh. So he hurt your feelings"

I cant understand why u rate this episode so good.
It sucked!

It is frustrated to see how dumb they are making clark!
Only a person with an IQ below 80 would have been so dumb to fail on fine and destroy the FOS.
I would have wished that they keep the clark-character a little more intelligent

I don't think that Clark is dumb. I think you are misinterpreting his motivations here.

First of all, he definitely has no great love for Jor-El. He doesn't want to conquer the Earth as he believes Jor-El wants him to. He has fought that "destiny". Jor-El has tricked him, coerced Jonathan into life threatening circumstances, and just recently told Clark that someone close to him must die because Clark broke his word by not getting back to the FOS in time. So when Fine tells him that Jor-El is behind his mother's sickness, and therefore in Clark's mind the one who Jor-El is going to take, Clark is only too happy to take to heart the solution that Fine offers him as the way to save his mother.

Additionally, he has always felt different and alone, so when Fine exhibits many of the characteristics of a Kryptonian and "admits" to Clark that he is Kryptonian after having saved Clark by removing the silver Kryptonite splinter, he is inclined to believe him.

I think that many viewers are working from their own knowledge that Fine is Brainiac and that Jor-El really is a loving father without putting themselves in Clark's place with the less than complete information that he has. He also doesn't suspect Fine because Clark has been brought up to see the good in everyone.

Clark is not necessarily stupid, he is still a teenager, albeit, a really gullible teenager. He's been sheltered by his parents and still has an amazingly optimistic outlook. Besides he's rebelling against Jor-El and at this point in time would always believe the worst of his Kryptonian Biological Father. Brainiac knew just how to play Clark, befriend him against Lex, save him from the silver kryptonite (apparently of Fine's manufacture), gain his trust then spring on him the idea of tyrannical Jor-El. Clark was in prime mental condition to believe anything bad about Jor-El. After a few more courses from the school of hard knocks, Clark will become a little more critcal in his thinking.
