Supes clone is doomsday?
On a JLU episode I thought I heard them say that they Cloned Superman to get Doomsday. Is that right? Bizarro is Supermans' imperfect clone, is Doomsday his clone equal, superior? In the comics is that the case also? I thought Superman took him into the future where time ended and he perished. Can someone explain? Thanks

Doomsday was created by a Kryptonian scientist, but he is not a clone of Superman...though his DNA is Kryptonian. Superboy and Bizarro were both attempts at cloning Superman.
After Doomsday was left at the end of time, he was rescued by Braniac before his destruction. In the Doomsday wars Brainiac took control of Doomsday's body, but Superman imprisoned him again. Darkseid has tried to clone Doomsday, but with very little success...even Batman was able to kill some Doomsday clones. (this refers to comics only...I haven't seen much of JLU) |

As for the JLU explanation: Doomsday's not exactly a clone, but was "manufactured" as part of the Cadmus Project from Superman's DNA... I think. I don't have the episode handy at the moment.
I'm not too sure of the comics origins. I think it has something to do with him being genetically engineered from Kryptonian DNA so that every time he was "killed" he would come back to life in such a way that he could never be "killed" the same way again. Comics: Genetically engineered on Krypton like 99999 times to survive against anything. First version dies, tissue is collected, restart. That went on for like 50 years before Doomsday was created.
JLU: Created from a sample of Supermans DNA. Kinda but not really a clone. If youve seen The Incredibles think that machine. best parts(most resilient) parts of Supermans DNA taken to create a completely different being.w |

Oh, and here's a bit of triva for you.
Doomsday was supposed to be Lana's and Pete's son. Yup. You read that right. If you recall, in the Doomsday comic with Braniac, Braniac's minion bore a startling similiarity to the creator of Doomsday in Doomsday: Hunter\prey. Also remember that Braniac kidnapped Lana's son for no apperant reason. The story was supposed to end with Superman not being able to save Lana's kid in time, Braniac's sidekick escaping into the timestream and then trying to make a new better body (doomsday) for Brainiac. Of course, the editors didn't like the idea of Superman losing or revealing who doomsday was, so the ending was changed at the last moment. |

If Doomsday's DNA is Kryptonian, does that mean Kryptonite affects him, too?

I don't think Doomsday has any Kryptonian DNA at all. I remember in Hunter/Prey they just mention that the scientist used a remote planet for his experiments. It also mentions that The Creature, as they referred to him at first, slowly adapted to the enviornment. The first time the enviornment killed him. Then he'd last a little longer, etc. Finally he survived the enviornment until he came across some indigineous (sp?) creatures that tore him up, until eventually they created a being that couldn't be destroyed. If his DNA was Kryptonian, then why would it take so long just to survive the enviornment? I think the DNA was created from scratch. I can't remember exactly, and my comics are in a closet in the baby's room, who is fast asleep LOL.
