Favorite Treehouse of Horror : Number 4 - Burns is Dracula, Flanders is the Devil, and Bart sees the gremlin on the side of the bus. Favorite Seasons : 1-9 Jumped the shark : Season 10 - Present Overall thoughts on the show : How cannot there not be a thread dealing with The Simpsons? In my opinion it is one of the best shows to ever be put on television. However, after season 10, the show started to go downhill. One reason for this, is that there are too many celebrity guest voice appearances. The show got away from what made it so great in the first place - the people of Springfield. The second thing is that the show tries to keep up with current events, yet The Simpson family itself never changes. Bart and Lisa have been the same age for 15 years now, and Maggie still can't talk. For a while, the show's charm was the fact that the Simpson family never changed. However, after the show started adapting to look more realistic and modern, it became the show's downfall. Imagine how great it would be to see Bart as a teenager getting his license, trying to have sex, etc. Imagine Maggie being able to talk and slowly growing up. Personally, I would rather have the show off the air in the next couple of years so that the production on the DVD releases could be speeded up. They are in season 15, and only 3 seasons have been put out on DVD. Last edited by vyperman7; 12-04-2003 at 07:48 PM. |

vyperman, what was season 9's last episode? IMHO, I think the show jumped the shark when Maude died. That's when I stopped watching, anyways. Also, can you *describe* your fave episodes rather than list the official titles? I don't remember the official titles. My faves...
Fave characters: Homer, Milhouse, Apu, Dr. Nick, Groundskeeper Willy, Skinner. Best opening: I agree-0 the Indy Jones homage RULED! Best ending: I agree- the gorge... That was *so* funny... They kept trying to bring Homer up by helicopter, and his head kept getting whacked against the cliff... Then, finally, he gets put in the ambulance, which crashed, throwing the stretcher out and sending Homer back to the bottom of the gorge... HEE! Fave episodes: Obese Homer ("Just focus on the neglected food groups: the whipped group, the congealed group, and the choco-tastic group!"), the episode all about Ralph and Bart ("Shh! I've been hiding for three hours and Bart still hasn't finded me yet!"), Lisa's summer makeover ("Like, you know, whatever."), Lisa plans the school dance after the new girl (Lisa Kudrow) arrives and wows everyone ("Ok, Lisa, DMY." "DMY?" "It means 'don't mess yourself.' "Eww..." "Yeah, that's why we changed it to 'DMY.'"), the Shari Bobbins episode ( Fave Treehouse of Horror: Homer in 3D (was that a ToH or a regular episode?), the one where Lisa puts a tooth in soda and it creates that mini-civilization, Burns as Dracula. Fave seasons: probably 3 to Maude's death. The characters just looked/sounded too weird in the beginning, and I thought the oldest episodes sucked (Cutting off Jebediah's head, etc.). Jumped the shark: Maude's death. The show just wasn't funny after that (IMHO). I wish the DVDs would hurry up!!! shirkie PS-- What do you mean about the Simpson family changing? Again, I haven't been watching for the past few seasons. Are they aging or something?? |

So to answer your question, no the Simpsons have not changed. I was just saying that the show would get better in the future, if they did. Season 9's last episode was Natural Born Kissers. That is the episode where Homer and Marge try to spice up their sex life by having sex in different places. There was one point in the episode where you see Homer getting dragged naked by a hot air baloon right above the church. One of the funniest moments in the whole show. I went back and put episode descriptions of all my favorite episodes. Last edited by vyperman7; 12-04-2003 at 07:49 PM. |

Fantastic series, smartest satire ever.
I have no idea what season or ep it was, but I howled 'till I cried when Willy appeared out of nowhere to wrestle the wolf. Don't remember a thing about the rest of the plot that ep -- that scene was all I need. Actually, I'm going into overload thinking of all the great moments. |

I LOVED that one with the hot air balloon-- "Keep looking at the floor... Always at God's floor." HEHE! Bart's teacher, though, is Edna Krabapple, not Kribobble-- ya know, like crab apple. Tee. You ever been to snpp.com (Springfield Nuclear Power Plant)? GREAT "Simpsons" site with transcripts and everything.
shirkie PS-- They don't play 'Homer vs. New York' here in the States anymore since 9/11, which sucks since it was SO funny. However, I think it's really cheap they show the one with the WHO and Springfield splitting into two halves-- that one has Homer wearing a homicide bomber's belt and threatening to detonate in the middle of a town meeting! We can't see 'Homer vs. New York' because Homer tries to find a bathroom in the Twin Towers, but it's perfectly OK to see Homer pretend to be a homicide bomber even after all the attacks in Israel, etc.? Hmm... |

i have lost a lot of respect for this show because of the last 3 seasons which have been total crap.i still love the old episodes, but they should have stopped it before it got so bad.and i recently got seasons 1-3 of Family Guy on dvd and i have to say it is ten times better and definately funnier than the simpsons.and ive heard they are thinking of bringing family guy back from the dead in 2005 due to the brilliant dvd sales.that should be cool!

The Simpsons used to be my all-time favourite show. I went crazy, I watched it everyday since they showed it 3 times a day. I have a Simpsons trivia game, a Lisa magnet, a picture of Bart autographed and personalised by Cartwright, etc etc... but for some reason they've lost their touch. I don't really care about the Sundays when the new ones air, which proves they really have changed; it may be me, but I like ranting =)
My favourite opening is the Rocky and Bullwinkle parody. |

ah the simpsons...this is the reason i love family guy so damn much. the simpsons started out so good... so funny and fresh... but now the new episodes are like watching an all new MadTv... no laughs. i used to love madtv and simpsons, but both have... run outta gas, I guess. i always wish that the next season of simpsons will show the family aging and growing. there have been good episodes past season 10, but there only about one good one a season. i hope when this show is cancelled, they make a theatrical movie, to end it all.

Man, I just saw a hilarious episode the other night. I was going through some of my old Simpson tapes, and I found the Treehouse of Horror where Homer gets Snake's hair transplated on him, after Snake is electrocuted. Best Treehouse of Horror I have seen since the one where Flanders is the devil, and Burns is Dracula. " You are so dead little dude." LOL LOL " Come here Barty, daddy wants to have a talk with you. " LOL LOL

I like the eipisode where Homer sings "I like Pizza, I like bagels, I like hot dogs, with mustard and beer. I'll eat eggplant. I could even eat a baby deer La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la!"
Hehehe, I want a sound clip of that now... |

shirkie, I have seen "Homer vs New York" on since 9\11, I was actualy surprised to see it too (I had said to my brother that they would probably never show it again).
TheMan, I heard a rumor that when they do cancel Simpsons they will make a movie, so I guess if we here about a Simpsons movie, it will mean the show is ending. |

well i know fox signed a deal to let the show run till through 2005 (i believe thats the year) basically after that, it will break all kinds of records for being on for 15 years or something like that.
i heard the movie idea too, dont know if I would like it the way it is now.... i mean i always watch it, but its not THAT funny, its not Family guy funny. it is entertaining though. |

what everyone thinks about the show?
you think it was great all over the years? as i do, or maybe only in the first seasons... what does everyone thinks about making a movie after the show ends,i think it looks like a great idea, Homer on the big screen, it will so funny! and about the end of the show, would you want the show to stay on the air, or get off the air after season 15? I think season 15 is great so far, i hope the show wont get canceled.. and im cool with 20 seasons! even ..So whats your thoughts in the matters??? |

basically, the simpsons is the longest running animated show in primetime ever, and on its way to beat out Gunsmoke for the longest running show ever. i think it has potential to keep going because the characters dont age, the humor is somewhat new each time/the jokes arent repetative, and its just a plain funny show. a movie wouldnt work, i dont think...people would have expectations too high of it, and it would bomb out because of all the hype.
