It was suggested that I start this thread.
When the idea first popped into my head I presented it in a very short One-Shot Fanfic (shown below). We've since begun discussing it in a few threads.
This idea stresses the point I've always taken: Chloe is and always has been Lois.
My theory doesn't say anything about Chloe "becoming" Lois. Rather it's the other way around . Lois "became" Chloe for the story of Smallville, which Lois wrote.
It's very simple:
Lois Lane, originally wrote "Smallville" using the name Chloe Sullivan to represent herself in the series.
And the 'Lois' character of the "Smallville" series was simply a ficticious character made up by the real Lois so she could be shown as having some firsthand knowledge of the main persons involved.
Problem solved!

" ... And as some of you may already know," Lois continued addressing the crowd, "the rights have recently been sold to be turned into a major television series, appropriately titled 'Smallville'."
The applause went on for longer than Lois expected. When it finally died down, several people had their hand raised for questions.
"Yes? " Lios said, pointing to a tall blond haired young man.
"There are rumors that you were really the person you label as Chloe Sullivan, the woman who married Superman, in your expose. Could you comment on that?"
Lois hoped the twinkle in her eye didn't give her away as she responded in a most professional manner to the not unexpected question.
She still felt confident in her decision to create the name Chloe Sullivan to represent herself in the series, (while at the same time creating a fictitious character named Lois so she could be shown as having some firsthand knowledge of the main persons involved.)
She chuckled as she began, "Well that is indeed flattering as it shows our talent for such complete and thorough research and investigation that it makes our account appear first-hand!" She flashed them that dazzling signature smile, of hers.
There was more applause along with some laughter.
Tears welled up in her eyes, and most onlookers would assume she was overwhelmed with the awards and recognition that had been bestowed upon them.
But taking a moment to glance over to her co-author and husband, --not so long ago known as Clark Kent, until the exposure of his secret identity-- the real reason was bursting in her heart.
After all they had been through together they had finally reached this point in their ever twisting and turning, bumpy and amazing road of life.
They had survived so much together, had experienced so much, the pleasures along with the heartache, and here they stood, still together , with the deepest of secrets, and with the deepest of love, the world has ever known!
