whats it gonna take for Clark to find his island?
I was so sure at the end of season 7 after the fortress collapsed that Clark has finally met his island, he lost everything and everyone that held him back and realized that he can't escape his destiny, but then as soon as he walked into the daily planet he was back to being that shy and scared little teenager from season 1 who still sees himself through the eyes of the people around him instead of being his own man. and all the progress of season 7 went down the drain.

the guy has been stuck in the phantom zone, a russian work camp, died twice, lost his dad, the love of his life, his cousin, his mother, Jor-El.
even Jor-El has given up on him saying "you seem to lack the capacity to learn your lesson".
I mean after all this it seems like it would take something so mind-bogglingly huge that I'm not sure they can pull it off.

so what do you think?

No man is an island.

All important tests, but I took it to hint at Doomsday. That could be Smallville's true test for Clark.

I really can't see how they could possibly pull that off
what could Doomsday possibly do that will have that much influence on Clark's personality
after Zod Brainiac Bizzaro Lex and all the pain he's been put through have all failed?

call me pessimist but I anticipate disappointment down the line
