The Ship!

CK is a full time reporter now?? how?? What is this? More Isabel ridiculous storylines???
How low can this show go, just for sensations...They are killing it bit by bit. I do not recognize this CK at all not only from the original Kent, but not even from himself. So are we to just swallow that this weak dude who couldn't really find true courage after learning that lionel was responsible for his father's death, after all the Lana crap, after hearing that Lex was the one torturing his friends and innocent people?
So sure, yeah why not. We'll simply ignore everything that has happened and just jump onboard that CK is a reporter seating right across from Lois....with NO MENTION of the fact that CK even NOW DOESN"T EVEN KNOW HOW TO FLY!!!! Hello?? What is going on ???
Did I also hear someone say they doomsday is coming to the show?? LOLOL what a JOKE!!! Very stupid writers on that show!! COme on !!

I wish Al/Miles would have actually shown Clark progressing towards his journalism career, but they kept him idle for 3-4 years without doing anything (actually he was regressing). I wish he could fly, but not flying is actually a much lower priority for me compared to other things that should have been done with the character by Al/Miles. The new executive producers have to wrap up the storyline, and even though it's a lightswitch, I'm glad to see Clark doing positive things compared to the nothing he was doing for years. I'm glad to see him not only revert to his previous Season 3 & earlier days of motivation and happiness, but also being more mature than he was back then.
As for Doomsday, I like the idea of the Davis character, but do not think he should be called Doomsday because Doomsday isn't supposed to have any humanity. I think instead he should have been explained as a project of Lex's that escaped after the disappearance of Lex. They should have treated him like Titan (a villian made for the show & not a DC Comics character).

This is how the show should have been a long time. The new producers are trying fix the mess that Al/Miles did since season 4 the best they can. They left with only one season to go.So,the new crew didn't have no other choice but,go with the lightswitch. It's completly different show but,it was a necessary change. It was now or never!
It's completly different show
Unambiguously true. Hence I call it a reboot.
but,it was a necessary change.
Not true at all. Better writing could have gotten them from point A to point B in a handful of episodes vice this immediate change in the first two.
The ends do not justify the means. In the end they want Lois & Clark at the DP involved in a relationship and Clark is protecting the planet as Superman.
The "means":
- Destroy the Chloe character --- she just creates too many complications in their mind. Makes a good subplot and fools original SV fans that the show is still SV.
- Plop Clark down in the DP without justification because the fans are so eager for progress they'll accept this BS.
- Have Lois become the veteran journalist so she can berate Clark and they can show whacky hijinx and tension.
- Throw a bunch of DC villains and heroes into the mix so that no one notices Clark is not wearing the suit yet because otherwise he looks and acts like Superman.
Again, the "ends" do not justify the weak "means" they are using IMO.

i wish i could get in a time machine and somehow change the popularity of the show...
when a show is really popular and making money, it tends to get corrupted. when a show has to drag on for 8 seasons because TPTB want more money out of it, it tends to get a bit sloppy and repetative and the writing tends to get less imaginative (or sometimes too imaginative, as they try to keep their audience interested)

This is what the show should have been after Clark graduated from high school. I was very impressed with this episode. Acting was terriffic and the story was a bit wonky but better than 90% of the last 7 years story lines. So Clark didn't go to journalism school but at least he isn't whinning over Lana lang. Looks like we also have a show down coming up between JLA verse cronie team with Doomsday also. Might be a bit much having Superman's greatest enemy on the show before Clark is even Superman but at least the show is more lively. Also i love the music so far this season. Very Superman like.
This season will be the greatest if we see some form of bruce wayne. I can only think of the possibilities.

Here is how I see it Al/Miles and should have left the show after season five. Then, the new producers (assuming the current ones took the job) we have made us go through the Season six and seven we went through. They would have had more time to develop Clark for the character he is supposed to be and Lois intoShe is supposed to be (Lois in my opinion was the one character, who got the least attention from the old producers because of the fact that she was only in 13 episodes, which I would have been fine with as long as she had been a central character in the overall storyline of each season. Considering she is one of the main Superman characters. But of course, she was not.) I have said this before, and I will say againAl/Miles cared about clana way too much that is a big reason why. Season six and seven were atrocious. The old producers took smallville they had created in the five previous seasons and turned into a soap opera. This caused <ST1:pClark</ST1:p major regressions and caused several problems in the writing of the episodes. Considering all this. I think the new producers are doing a fantastic job with the new season. Yeah, there are some things that are not connected correctly, but it is okay in my opinion, because we knew the main characters would end up where they are anyway.New producers are just trying to make a decent show out of the junkAl/Miles left them with.<O:p</O:p

Yeah the OP is just flat out wrong. Are you sure you're watching Season 8? So far this is one of the best seasons yet. You just come across as someone who wants to hate on the show to fit in with people on the forums who have legitimate criticism.
Did I also hear someone say they doomsday is coming to the show?? LOLOL what a JOKE!!! Very stupid writers on that show!! COme on !!
You sound like a child. And if you're just finding out now that Doomsday is coming, where the hell have you been?

Thanks Kelly.
Yeah Davis is pretty cool so far. But as a comics fan, I just hope that when his transformation really starts to ramp up, they do it right.

an opinion is an opinion... it can't be wrong
and there is nothing childlike about having the opinion that the idea of doomsday on smallville is a stupid one... a lot of us think that...

thing is, i can't figure out exactly why al miles went so wrong... i loved their origional concept and the first three seasons... and it seems like as soon as Lois was there they lost their ideas somehow... it's like they just didnt know what to do from then on, because she was in the mix

I think we have a misunderstanding. I didn't mean that the OP's opinion about Doomsday was childlike. If I came across that way, I apologize for being unclear. I meant that the OP sounded childlike in what was IMO gratuitous criticism of the bad things in the show just for the sake of fitting in with the crowd. Just my opinion.

I liked the magic in season 4, I guess I'm in the o.oooo1 percent range on that, but whatever. I agree that Clark's journalism career was unrealistic, but I still like what they did with that considering that al miles did not do any lead-up to it. I like the way it was Lois who gave him the application and how the events of the finale and premier helped him to make the decision to work there. Besides, you never know if they will one day revisit how he got the job.

How about we do what Clark did this season and move on from the past? Let go and move forward.....
I think we should move on and forget about what could have been and just accept what is.......Can't change it so move on and learn to live with it.

i do understand that mentality, but i think people confuse these debates with an inability to enjoy the show. i truly do enjoy watching new episodes. i loved Plastique, and have barely said a bad word about it. but when there are things which i find interesting enough to discuss, i like to discuss them
i do live with it, obviously there is nothing we can do about it, but i won't just ignore everything that i feel is wrong with the show...
