we know 'no tights" but has the "no flights" restriction finally been lifted this season? who wanted or thought clark was going to fly away from that meeting in the street with the JL?

I didn't think so. If he was going to fly again, there would have been more build up for it like when he was Kal-El in "Crusade"-he had a certain determined look in eyes before he leaped in the air.

They said that the flights part of the rules have been lifted but who knows if we will actually see clark as clark fly i really hope so i dont want to see PS3 turn out like al/miles.

It would be AWESOME to see Clark fly. But I do think that it should be a surprise. We shouldn't see it coming. Remember the episode "Gemini" from last year? The fact that Clark was really Bizarro Clark totally surprised me. I never saw that coming. And I think that's how it should be when he finally flies.

Ha! I totally thought he take off at that point, which might have been surprise enough for me.

If I were MM, instead of the red jacket I'd have thrown a Red Bull at Clark. Product placement right there!

No, of course they're not going to waste his first real flight on a throwaway moment. For budget reasons if nothing else. But if he does fly this season, it'll be because he NEEDS to do it in order to save someone.

Of course it'll be to save somebody. That I'm sure of, but I wonder how they will let him fly without his tights?

It is strange enough to accept someone, who can fly, but well, the people in Metropolis e.g. accepted it, because they always saw Superman fly in all the other incarnations.

But in "Smallville" there won't be a Superman in tights, so how can they let him fly, without anybody seeing him as "Clark" and not as "Superman"???

I'm really curious about that - let's see, hopefully soon ;o)

CK could put on a new kind of costume with a mask not the suit yet.He had to be in disguise to fly that's for sure because it would ruine his dual identity.I hope it's soon. It's pretty boring to see him running like The Flash all the time.

Kara was flying all through season 7 without a costume - so why can't Clark?

yeah, actually you've got a point there. I didn't think of that, but you're right. If Kara can do it without a costume, why can't Clark??

He'd need sturdier cables.

honestly i thought it would've been a perfect moment for him to fly, would've put a lot more momentum on the ending looking toward the rest of the season.

o.k.......what are "sturdier cables"?? I'm afraid I need a little help in understanding....:o

I think, it's better they saved the first flight for another episode. "Odyssey" was too much packed anyway.

They did his super breath early in the season, so the flight might happen sometime in the first 10 eppys.

When it happens, there needs to be a "Crusade"-esque moment of preparation. He shouldn't just take off without warning like Bizarro did in "Gemini". It wouldn't be realistic that way. If Clark's flying for the first time, he's not just going to take off, save someone, and land like he does it every day. It's going to be a significant event in Clark's life.

My poorly executed attempt at humor. I was giving TPTB an excuse as to why Kara could fly and Clark could not. That excuse being that the cables/ropes assisting Kara to fly could not hold the greater weight of Clark.

Actually, it IS about time for Clark to get another super power. He's almost got the whole gamut, now.

Super Speed, Super Strength, Invulnerability, Super Hearing, Heat Vision, X-Ray Vision, Super Breath, Leaping Tall Buildings
The only things he can't do now are fly and change the way the planet spins in order to turn back time (Please God don't EVER use this power).

Yes, it's about time now for Clark to learn how to fly. Do I want it to be a spontaneous thing? No. Never. Developing his other powers were not spontaneous, either.

He had troubles getting the hang of his x-ray vision, trying to get the muscles in his eyes to work right. He had a hard time getting heat vision under control so that he could use it without thinking about sex (hilarious episode!) Getting the air cannon that was his super breath reigned in was another great episode where he had to learn to control that, too! Super hearing because of his vision going bad and learning to control that, too.

Clark can fly. He's been able to fly since Season 1, Episode 1. The problem is learning to control it, and I envision another episode filled with HILARITY as Clark tries not to float away (or maybe he's stuck glued to the ceiling and can't figure out how to come back down) Oh man, the possabilities are endless! LoL!
