And when the episode itself is on, chat about it with the people you know!
Note: If you've seen the premiere already, don't post spoilers in this thread.

Less than six hours here! Even though I watched it on Hulu (embedded on KITTSite), I plan on watching it live.

Alright so I'm kind of excited for this show, and it's star: KITT. Could the Mustang be any sweeter?

1 hour 2 minutes to go!
Tell me, is it wrong that I catch myself humming the old Knight Rider theme? :\
I even make the sound effect of KITT's light.

Not any more wrong than me getting teary-eyed when Memphis Raines broke the mirror on Eleanor in "Gone In 60 Seconds", heh.

I don't even remember the theme song.
I remember KITT's voice though. That and the fact that, since I was just a kid, I was convinced I was going to get the car, somehow, someway. LOL :P
I'm excited. Finally some good shows on TV! Well, maybe I'm being premature, but I have faith. ;)
Ten Minutes and counting.

Um, don't hate me because, well, I got suckered into watching "Dancing With The Stars", BUT, I'll watch it online if they put it there, promise.

I loved the transformation into and out of the truck!!!

Me too.
Guess it's me, Randy and Craig against the world. :P
I didn't see Val Kilmer in the credits but that IS who does KITT's voice isn't it?
So why would someone's hair be worth something? But then Caliente Chica did cut off his thumb, so maybe it is his DNA instead.
And it appears we know who one of our moles at Knight Rider is, but do we think the other guy is too?

I think there are too many hot girls at Knight Rider. I know, I know, shouldn't I be all pro girl power, but maybe we need more conservative women in there too.

If you missed it, the Hulu-embedded version of the first episode can be found on KITTSite. (http://www.kittsite.com) If it's not there, I'm sure NBC.com will still have it... legally available to watch. :)
I thought this was much better than the TV-Movie, although like I said in another thread, I thought the new characters were kind of unnecessary. I thought KITT was better written and loved the "Attack KITT" mode. I also thought Justin and Deanna, as well as Bruce Davison, were great.
I kinda missed the drunken Hoff we got in the premiere though :(
I'm not live-watching yet as I am on the East Coast... but I wanted to keep the fun going... usually these live discussion threads are hopping!

They explain by episode's end. I think they just wanted an excuse for Mike Traceur to be "a man who does not exist" and therefore, he is now Michael Knight.
You can't have a Knight Rider without Michael Knight, after all.

*gasp* you cheated?
Oh my goodness. :p
I bet you're digging how they incorporated sounds and music from the old series.
Wasn't the main character in the old series Michael Knight was the main character wasn't it?

Well, I just turned the TV off.
I think they retooled the opening theme to sound more like the original didn't they?
They listened to the fans. KITT looks bad@ss too! I love to see him morph.

Nah, I don't consider it cheating.
I do that to familiarize myself with the characters.
It works way faster than just learning them over a season or two. :)

I enjoyed it. Alot better than I did the TV movie. It was fun. Cool action mixed with humor and a hint of romance between the 2 leads. The 2 leads seemed to have worked out their chemistry issues. I felt they were both alittle stiff in their debut, but watching them tonight they both seemed comfortable with one another. My only grip would be with the abilites of KITT. IF he can hit speeds of 300+mph's, then why could't he have caught up with the kidnapper? I hated that. Overall I'd rate it 7/10 solid and fun.

I loved the transformation into and out of the truck!!!
Really? that was my least favorite part... the thing I loved about the old series was that, for the most part, the technology only bordered on "sci-fi"... heck, we have most of it now. Turbo Boost still isn't too far-fetched... the bullet proof polymer paint is the only thing I can recall being a stretch.
The vehicle transformations are just too over-the-top for me... crossing too far into sci-fi. Rather than being "technology achieveable in 20 years" we've got technology that is, according to the laws of physics, impossible. I rolled my eyes at it... I never rolled my eyes at the original series (at least not for KITT's capabilities *heh*).
On the flip-side, however, I really enjoyed the show once the gratuituous stripping scene had passed and they moved on to real story and real acting. Sarah even stopped annoying me once she got out of the car, and Mike finally felt like a leading man. I'll admit that I wasn't really impressed with either of them in the movie.
And then Mike was "killed" (which I kind of knew was going to happen and smiled when it finally did), and even though I knew he was going to say it, when he introduced himself as Michael Knight, I cheered. By that point, he actually won me over, and the show with him. It's definitely going to be regular DVR'ed-post-"Bones" viewing (Sorry, KITT, "Bones" wins... don't feel bad, though... I'll be apologizing to "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" starting next week as well... "Chuck" rules!).
Overall, it was an enjoyable ride and I hope it only continues to improve... and that it finds its niche and viewership faster than "The Bionic Woman," which got cancelled just as it was starting to get good. I'd rather not see "Knight Rider" suffer that same fate.

I think that the show was great. It was fun to see a modern knight rider on t.v. I was a big fan of the show when I was younger. I was convinced that I was going to own KITT one day, but I guess I'll just have to settle for my car. I look forward to seeing what else the new and improved KITT can do in the upcoming series.

so it looks like there's still hope.

Somewhere around 7.30 million. I can't decide if that's good or bad. Some (like Mediaweek) say it is, I think that's actually pretty good considering... shows what I know.
KR does have an advantage though if ratings fall - they could always bring in The Hoff for an arc which may get some curious viewers back, but also, I still think they could cut the cast budget in half.

Well, its higher than T-SCC. I really love both shows so I hope the networks give them a chance! Also the DVR Live+7 ratings should be good.

Yay! I really liked it! Lots of action, humor, and a good story. I'm intrigued by Michael's past that he can't remember. Justin is cute, and I like the way he delivers his lines. I Love KITT! There is good chemistry between the Actors and I CARE about the characters!
I've been trying to like "Fringe", but I just don't care about the characters. With Smallville, I cared alot immediately. That's important to me:)
Question? What was KITT doing to Michael's file, near the end? Was he erasing it?

Over at NBC, the series-premiere of Knight Rider was left at the starting gate, with 7.30 million viewers (#3) and a 2.4/ 7 among adults 18-49 (#3) from 8-9 p.m. One year earlier, Deal or No Deal averaged 9.05 million viewers and a 2.7/ 8 in the demo in this time period. I knew the novelty would be gone after the made-for movie last spring. Knight Rider led into a live edition of America’s Got Talent at 10.23 million viewers (#2) and a third-place 2.7/ 7 among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m. (2.93 million more viewers than Knight Rider), followed by the second-season premiere of Lipstick Jungle at a last-place 6.08 million viewers and a 2.3/ 6 among adults 18-49 at 10 p.m. Retention for Lipstick Jungle out of the second-half of America’s Got Talent was 58 percent in total viewers and 85 percent among adults 18-49. One year earlier, drama Life kicked-off in this time period with a much heftier 9.95 million viewers and a 4.0/11 in the demo. Sorry, Brooke!

It was number one with Males 18-34, Males 25-54 and Kids 2-11.
Too many women had control of the remote and watched Dancing With The Hasbeens and Not Really Stars. >_> <_<
It held strong in the quarter hours as well, next week will be more telling. Especially since the first episode had been available for a week and was probably watched by several million people.

This is my first post but I have been reading here on the Kryptonsite network for years. As this post shows, Knight Rider did pretty well. I do not know why some people/websites are trying to lable the show a failure. 7.3 million is more than many other shows and some people would have watched it online first and may not have watched the broadcast version. I hope they release the # of viewers counting online and PVR.
I am very pleased that the show is back and have faith that the producers, writers, actors and everyone involved will improve if given the time. I for one will be watching every episode and its about time that we have Knight Rider back on the air.

Um no. My hubby and I watched the real KR when it was on tv. We tuned into the movie last spring and cringed at the bad acting. The plot was interesting. Was hoping for a retooling of the show. However even my hubby thought the first episode wasn't even better. I know the Hoff was a soap actor but at least he was interesting. The two leads are soap actors but the female was on Young and the Restless that I watch. I didn't like her acting on there and don't on here either. And for Soap acting, some can be pretty bad but Y&R has mostly good ones.
Hubby and I will give KR a chance. We both can't stand Dancing with the Stars because it's well, pointless. We caught a bit of it after Terminator TSCC and wondered how in the world it in pulled in such big number.
I think it has more to do with the sci-fi/fantasy element. I think TSCC is a well written show but it doesn't get big numbers. LOST was mostly a mystery at the beginning and they it got into more of a sci-fi feeling and ratings aren't like they were in the first season. And for some reason reality shows are a really big hit. I record my mindless garbage (Y&R) and fast forward through a lot. But that's a soap. I don't want my evening shows like that all. And KR gives me the urge to do just that.
