Fan Art Challenge Round #145: TV's Perfect PairsIntro:
TV's full of perfectly paired characters. romantic couples, best friends, and friends with lots subtext. Many of these perfect pairs live on mainly in the hearts & minds of fans through fan-fiction and fan art. Many of these fan favorite pairings are slash, femme slash or just plain strange. For this challenge you can make art for you favorite perfect pairs in three separate themes slash & femme slash, unconventional female/male pairs and parody pairs!
Warning, there is a lot of reading below so if you're in a hurry, it's not necessary to read each the details under each theme if you only want to participate in one theme. Thanks!

Please use one show per graphic unless you are using screen caps from when the show had a cross-over episode or you can choose a crossover from the list below.

Perfect Pairs Challenge Themes


Theme #1: Slash & Femme Slash


This part of the theme is the brainchild of past challenge winner Daddylion.
As some you fan-fic writers & artist may know, July 1st is International Slash Day and July 19 is International Femme Slash Day.
If you don't know what this means go to Wikipedia and find out here. Slash >> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slash_fiction Femme Slash >> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Femslash
For this part of the challenge any slash or femme slash pairings are allowed as a theme. Pairings should be generally romantic for this theme. Remember if your pairing is romantic be sure it follows KryptonSite's forum rules about implied content (absolutely no romance involving underage/adult characters and no family members).

A few pairing examples are below with show titles & pairings in parenthesis.
Smallville (Clark/Lex, Chloe/Lana, Kara/Lois, non-romantic only Lois/Chloe), House M.D (House/Wilson), Prison Break (Michael/Sucre) LOST (Jack/Sawyer, Kate/Juliet, Locke/Ben), Moonlight (Mick/Josef), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Angel/Spike, Buffy/Faith, Willow/Buffy), Angel (Fred/Cordelia, Angel/Spike) Stargate: Atlantis (Rodney/John) Xena: The Warrior Princess (Xena/Gabrielle).
Canon slash & femme ships are also allowed such as BtVS's Tara/Willow.

If you don't want to use romantic relationships as a theme then same sex friendships or enemy-ships are also acceptable - no girl/boy is the only rule.

Theme #2: Unconventional Pairings: Female/Male


For this part of the theme you can use strange or rare ships that are female/male pairings. These should be pairings you would probably never see on the shows. Pairings that are odd or unusual (use your imagination!). The characters don't even have to know each other. You can imagine an alternate universe kind of pairing. The only rule is no implied romantic relationships between characters when one is underage or characters that are family members. Some examples are: Smallville ( Jimmy/Lana, Chloe/Brainiac, Lana/Lionel, Chloe/Zod, Kara/Oliver) Supernatural (Dean/Ruby), LOST (Claire/Locke, Kate/Hurley, Saywer/Sun), Doctor Who (Nine/Donna), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Willow/Spike)



Theme #3: Not Quite Human - Parody Pairings & Pet Pals


This comicial theme is based on this >>> Inanimate Objects Pairing thread HERE (http://www.kryptonsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78009) in the
Smallville relationships thread forum. These pairings are parodies of real fandom pairings and can be as goofy or strange as you can imagine. Check out the thread for more ideas.
Some Smallville examples are: pair Clark with a rock (from the thread), Lex with his sportscar, or Lana and The Talon.
Examples from other shows: Supernatural: Dean/Impala, LOST: Jack/The Island, Doctor Who: The Doctor/TARDIS, the Anything goes for this theme as long as it stays PG-13.

You can also create friendship pairings using pets or supporting animal character on the show under this theme.
Some examples of pet friends are Smallville:Clark/Shelby the Dog, LOST: Sawyer/Vincent Pet pairings must be friendship only with absolutely no romance or sexual stuff indicated or implied at all in your entries as per KryptonSite's forum rules.

Image Choice:
Please only use images from your chosen shows. No out of character or actors magazine photo shoot pictures please. Screen captures and TV show promotional images are all allowed.
In the case of photo manipulations, any pictures can be used as a base, but the end result must show the faces of the characters from your chosen shows) only.

All graphics must be original for this challenge. Pre-made resources such as textures, brushes etc are always allowed.

You may post as many graphics as you wish to post on the challenge thread, just remember only one or maybe two will be put in the final poll for people to vote on. (See "Awarding.")

The final poll should be posted by August 29 or 30.

Awarding:
At the end of the challenge FotW or her assistant will post a poll. The poll can include up to ten items. The poll will include only two entries per person (if space allows) or FotW will chose one entry per person to be voted on. The poll will determine first and second place (and if there are enough entries third place & one or two mod's choice awards will be given).

In addition, all participants will receive a commemorative graphic for participating in the challenge - this round the participation graphic will be made by Daddylion.

Amazing Xena wall, Lex's Lover! I love the burgundy color scheme on the wall and all of the images that you chose to use as well. The two big images of Xena and Calisto fit perfectly with the text IMO because of how they're behaving in the smaller caps of them. I love the image of them in the lower left hand corner when they're holding their swords. The blending is amazing in the wall, really good job on that. I also like the tiny text underneath the main "Hate That I Love You" text.

Info/Backstory: This is based on fic idea I had, an alternate universe fic where all the characters of Gossip Girl (and Gossip Girl herself) are the elites of the future where humans have colonized the stars. "Sector 9", as seen in the wall, is pretty much the region of space that is the center of human civilization of that time. Serena and Blair are daughters of rulers of enemy planets and as you can see from the text on the wall, they're eloping together. That's more the end of the fic :) I wanted to make something that's an unconventional approach to a fairly conventional pair. Also used a new style of photomanipulation on the wall, with the outfits on Serena and Blair being drawn on photoshop over the original pictures to give a more computer game look. I didn't do any of the background though, that's all from Star Wars.

Halley- i love the shape at the bottom of the Xena wall, and the pic on the right with Callisto on her knees look hot :) I also like the shape behind the text and the text too. :)

Ginx- Your Dean/Impala wall is just amazing! I think it's the best wall I've ever seen you enter into these challenges! I love the layout, and the lincense plate looks great, nice blending. Info/Backstory: I know when Lex was with bottle on the show during the early seasons that their relationship was more about the the physical and mind games and that Lex was just using bottle without any intention of ever refilling it, however this wall isn't about Lex/bottle ship in the context of the show, this is an alternate future in which Braniac and his lover, toaster oven had used Lex to help him take over the world, but only half suceeding, leaving some of the human population still alive (as opposed to killing everyone) but with the world in flames that never seem to die out. In this world, Lex, full of guilt and anger over what happened, unexpectedly finds solace in the familiar cold touches of his ex lover... would make a pretty cool fic if I was capable of finishing fics. Anyway, I was initially just gonna make a regular sexy Lex/bottle wall that shows their relationship in the earlier seasons but i seem to have been on an AU kick from my last wall.

I love the Clark/Bottle wallpaper, Firebunny! :D The Bottle letter is so powerful (especially the "I'm the champagne of your dreams masquerading as orange pop) and I can really feel Bottle's emotions there. The picture of Clark that you chose to use for Clark is perfect since you bolded the "fly back to me" part. Great job on it.

The Clock wall is amazing, borednow! I like all of the sparkles on top of Clark and Rock in the wallpaper. I love the text in the wall too. It fits perfectly with the Clock relatinoship IMO. :lol: The cap of Clark fits Clark's feelings towards Rock really well in my eyes. The text is what wins the wall over for me. :D

Incredible Dean/Impala wallpaper, Ginx! :cool: I love all of the images of Dean and the Impala that are on the left side of the wall. All of the different angles of the Impala look amazing especially the ones towards the bottom. The blending in the main part of the wall is superb. I like how you did blended the background text into the pics too. Really nice job on it.

"Puppy Power" looks amazing. I like the different images of Shelby and Mr. Muggles that you chose as well as the humans that they interact with. The design with the squares not going exactly around the caps was a nice touch IMO. I also loved all of the pawprints on the wall, it fit perfectly with the theme. ;) The fonts that you chose for "Shelby" and "Mr. Muggles" fit really well with the way that they behave (or their lifestyle at least).

The Peter/Clark wallpaper is magnificient. The idea is perfect and so is how you executed it. I really like the close-ups of their faces and how you cropped them. I also like how sharp and crisp the images are too. The ripped paper that the "Outsider Heroes" looks perfect. The way that you positioned Clark and Peter on the left side of the wall is great.

The Serena/Blair wall is fantastic, Daddylion! :eek: I love how well done the manip of Serena and Blair is. I also like how they're not at the center part of the wall, but you can still tell that the wall is about them. The part on the computer screen looks perfect too, just like it does on the actual show. The text by Gossip Girl sounds exactly what she would say too, so that's another plus. The lips all around the wallie add so much more IMO.

The Lex/Bottle wall is amazing too. :D I love the red color around it and how well you show the post-apocalyptic world in the background. The way that yo put Lex in front of Bottle on the right side of the wall looks cool. The main image of Lex and Bottle fits the text perfectly to me for some reason. I like how you made the text look all shaky, that was really cool since it matched the post-apocalyptic theme.

That is one sexy Botex wall, Lee. I like the Alternate Universe element. (Your backstory is awesome.) AU is the only way I can get into Botex, since it's so terribly destructive on the show.

Lol thanks, the Botex wall is very giggle inducing :) I was so glad i had that cap of Lex with the bottle :) it wasn't big though so i made it into like a flashback thing, that's why it's in faded colours, showing Lex and bottle as old lovers. I really loved their scenes together from before, it was hot even if Lex was just using bottle.

The Serena/Blair wall is fantastic, Daddylion! :eek: I love how well done the manip of Serena and Blair is. I also like how they're not at the center part of the wall, but you can still tell that the wall is about them. The part on the computer screen looks perfect too, just like it does on the actual show. The text by Gossip Girl sounds exactly what she would say too, so that's another plus. The lips all around the wallie add so much more IMO.

The Lex/Bottle wall is amazing too. :D I love the red color around it and how well you show the post-apocalyptic world in the background. The way that yo put Lex in front of Bottle on the right side of the wall looks cool. The main image of Lex and Bottle fits the text perfectly to me for some reason. I like how you made the text look all shaky, that was really cool since it matched the post-apocalyptic theme.

Thank you... there's another manip on there with the GG website on the screen behind them on the spaceship... it's got Blair kissing Serena's neck. I figured i'd post a bigger version of that once the challenge is over. I also put text on the website to fit it as well if you squint to see it. And thank you, I'm very proud of the GG text, it took a few tries to get it to sound like her. nd the lips brush is by Ewanism. I love that brush.

She goes there and meets Claire Bennet. She decides to interview her, so that she can get more information on Noah Bennet, but things start to turn around a bit. Claire and Lois start to become friends and eventually Claire confides in Lois about her disastrous relationship with West and how they broke up. Lois knows how Claire feels since she's been through that with Oliver Queen and she tells Claire her story. They both hug after knowing that they both have gone through many problems. A friendship is born. :D

I wasn't too sure on how to show that they actually bonded, so I tried to make a manip of both of them hugging, but that was horrible... So I used two different caps when they hugged and tried to give the illusion that they're hugging...

Hmmm well, i can see Claire/Lois a little bit, but when i do think about it i get distracted by Claire/Nikki, cause String Theory is one of my all time favourite femme fics and it's Claire/Nikki. And i also think Claire/Elle is a good match. For crossovers though, i see Lana/Candice, the whole thing with beauty would make them interesting to ship. I actually had an idea for a fic with them too, but never got round to writing. It has Lana and Clark being one of the superpowered people through evolution instead of the whole alien thing, and Lana's power was to make people want her and she can't control it, so she almost got raped, and then she was picked up by Prima tech paper, they saved her and they had her as one of their agents and she was partnered with Candice, who is somehow able to resist her powers... ofcourse i have more fic ideas than i can write them :p

Elle becomes fascinated by Lex b/c she plans to manipulate him, so he can break her out of Belle Reve. So Elle and Lex end up talking one day and Lex persuades Elle that he's the good guy and that Clark has been trying to do him in ever since they stopped being friends. Elle then starts to look up to Lex as some kind of "hero" and they have an affair until Elle realizes what she was using Lex for.

Oh Halley! Xena/Callisto was an amazing rivalry. Every moment of them on screen was just dripping with chemistry. I loved the episode where they switched bodies. Xena in Calisto's body was just mesmerizing. Great wallpaper. LOL! All my Xena memories came rushing back!

I really love the texture at the bottom even if you don't have a backstory :D I'm working on another entry myself, also a Supernatural/SV crossover. It's Bela/Lana though, and it's also based on my fic idea, the one i've been wanting to write but can't get myself to, mostly because i can't seem to find Bela's voice.

Info/Backstory: Another piece inspired by a fic idea I haven't written. It's a long one but i hope you guys do read it.

Prior to being a constant pain in the Winchester brother's hot arses, Bela occasionally worked for Lex Luthor, procuring (stealing) unique items of alien origin for him. During one of their meetings Bela meets Lana who was dating Lex at the time. They both initially disaprove of each other, Lana of Bela's career choice, lack of morality and attitude and Bela seeing Lana as uptight, self righteous and hypocritical. Neither acknowledged or even realise their attraction to each other and never fail to show their disaproval of each other every chance they get. After Lana ties the knot with Lex and later discovers his betrayal however, Lana ends up having to turn to her nemesis for help. She asks Bela to help teach her how to hack into Lex's system, steal Lex's money and cover her tracks. The deal was to split the money in half. Though Bela could easily make more money on her own, she ends up helping Lana anyway. Once Lana faked her own death, Bela goes with her to Shanghai where they finally acknowledge their feelings for each other and become lovers. They live together for nearly three months though Bela refused to open up to Lana about her life. Bela knows that she only has one year left to wiggle out of her deal with the crossroad demon or she'll die and hence makes the decision to leave Lana while she finds a way to keep living. So, Bela pushes Lana away, thinking that she'll either find a way out and come back to Lana (or steal her from whomever she's with at the time if she has to) or she'll die and Lana will never know, she would only be hurt momentarily from the break up but not scarred by her death. So, Bela breaks up with Lana and Lana is soon after, discovered by Lex and eventually returns to Smallville where she goes back to Clark despite knowing that she was nothing like the girl he fell in love with and she wasn't sure anymore herself how much she really loved him. Later just before she dies Bela breaks her resolve and comes to Smallville to find Lana to tell her the truth and to spend her last week with the woman she loves, however at the time, Lana was attacked by Brainiac and was comatosed. Bela, broken hearted, leaves her a letter telling her everything she was afraid to tell her before. She didn't really think Lana was going to wake up to read it since the doctors say she probably won't wake up however Lana did wake up but only a day after Bela died.

(I did actually want to tell the whole fic cause i still want to write it and didn't want to spoil it but if i didn't explain it then the wall wouldn't have as much meaning)

The new Bela/Lana wall is fantastic! The choice for the Lana cap (from Phantom, I guess?) is perfect IMO because it seems to match up with her feelings in the backstory. I also like how you cropped the image of Bela in the top corner too. The manip with Bela and Lana talking is really neat too, it looks so realistic. The Shangai cityscape looks great, it adds so much more to the theme of the wall. The angle that the text is facing is really neat; it adds more depth to the piece IMO. The backstory is amazing, though. It fits perfectly within the continuity and I actually feel sorry for Bela. :lol:

Exactly! The destiny thing doesn't need to be in the equation. Not just for walls but also in shipper wars, destiny always comes up in an argument. IMO if there was no superman before Smallville, and Lois was just a new character coming in with no history or destiny, I'd still think Lois and Clark belong together and the people who don't, well they'd still think they don't no matter how many times in how many versions Lois and Clark ends up together in other mediums.

Yeah, I see Kara/Dean more than Chloe/Dean (which seems to be so popular in fics). I see Kara as young and playful and someone who could brighten up Dean's day, and yet not completely innocent, i mean her whole planet did explode so there's some angst potential there even if it's untapped on SV itself. Kara understands losing everything she knows, losing her whole world, or she's supposed to though again, SV screwed up that but it could totally be rectify easily in a fic. I don't know how well she'd work with season 3 or even 4 Dean but i see season 1 and 2 Dean working with Kara pretty well. I don't ship Chloe with a Winchester at all but I find Chloe/Sam would work a lot more than Chloe/Dean.

And thanks. I actually wasn't sure about it when i finished it (my mother said she didn't like it). The initial version wasn't that good but then the second version looked better, which is the one you all see on this thread.

And yeah, good guess. It was from Phantom :) Deb couldn't figure it out. The angle was actually cause it was supposed to be a pic of Lana on a train leaving for the air port (the background was supposed to be a window) but it wasn't clear enough so i ended up using text that fits more with the end of the story rather than that particular scene where it was just Lana being dumped by Bela. And thanks, I'm actually very proud of how much the idea fits into canon. Makes it more real somehow.
