To me it looks a bit pants, but all the feedback coming out of those in the know is that it's something special. Will be interesting to see!

(I seem to recall they said the same for Love and Monster though :()

After the previous story arc, I don't see how it could be a strong follow up episode.
The scenes didn't look too exciting to me, but I may be wrong.
Unless that was Billie Piper outside, beating on the door. :p

If so, by all means..... let her in.

creator of the Daleks, Davros himself, will be appearing in one of the remaining episodes of the series.

Maybe this episode is a Dalek episode....?

I spent the whole episode waiting for something to happen.

Not that it wasn't thrilling, but looking back it was a little anti-climatic.

Tense is probably the best way to describe this episode. FANTASTIC acting, it must have been so hard for the actors to do everything in sinc with one another, let alone memorising the square root of pi to 30 decimal places.

The confidential was pretty good as well.

I agree. After watching both "Midnight" and "Look Who's Talking,"even though I know the sound crew worked ever so hard on this episode, & the actors had to endure claustrophobic filming conditions, I still found it rather boring. This felt like filler material to me. I was actually being overly kind, giving it 3 stars.

Who knows, maybe it's due to the great Moffat 2 parter we just came off of, or in anticipation of what's supposed to happen in the last 3 episodes.
Maybe actually a combination of both.

"Mine went to a different universe" <-- love any Rose reference !!!!!! Fantastic!

I really liked this episode. nothing fancy , just paranoia , anxiety , and you had to wonder what was going on. they didn't spoon feed the audience, you had to wonder what was going on outside. I give it a 4.
An all around enjoyable tale, well done

Oh yeah, now I did enjoy that part, and also when she was
on the screen behind him yelling "Doctor....... Doctor!"

I was yelling at my screen.... "Turn.... around!"

But how did she know exactly where he was to send a signal to that particular screen? Getting through to the TARDIS scanner is one thing, but to know where he was exactly at that moment? (apart from which direction he was facing) Well I find that just a little stalkery. ;)

I need to watch this episode again. I saw bits a pieces, to distracted by someone talking to me. But from what i saw it was okay

Here's my theory on how Rose is appearing on the screens. Something is happening to all the universes (alternates included), some force beyond our understanding will bring Rose and Donna together in order to save the Doctor. This force allows her to communicate with him on any screen nearby because it is so powerful. (I'm getting this all from the preview for "Turn Left")

Yet another brilliant episode! Not quite as good as Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead, but still 5/5 material!

Wow! That was excellent. So psychological and creepy. Excellent direction. Excellent acting. It reminded me of the "Pusher" episodes from X-files. And ROSE!!!

Admittedly this episode is pretty light on plot, and coming after the excellent and multi-layered story that was the Silence in the Library 2-parter and before the Big Three final episodes, this episode does seem a little bit filler. And that's a crying shame, because this episode is a truly cracking story in its own right!

I loved the use of the repetition, not because of how strange and eerie it was but how it was used to reveal the unlikeable traits of the characters. Considering at the beginning of the episode practically all of them were likeable on some level (in my opinion, anyway), with the exceptions of the stewardess and goth-kid Jethro (how ironic!), it was brilliant writing on RTD's part to reveal their darker sides when faced with the unknown. The professor hobbs character was especially brilliant: seemingly a kind and friendly proffessor at the start, it is his knowledge, his certainty that he knows EVERYTHING about Midnight that, by the end, reveals his arrogance and what he thinks about everyone else, making us despise him instead. Now that's just GREAT characterisation!

The isolated, claustrophobic setting was also a big fat plus in my book. Reminded me of the good old classic Tom Baker years which featured plenty of good horror stories: Ark in Space, Robots of Death and Horror of Fang Rock. Only Midnight didn't have as quite a high body count as any of those, but then again, it was made REALLY claustrophobic by being mostly set in one room the whole time!

So, filler? Well, perhaps, if we take the whole "Season Arc" thing into consideration. Not that i don't like huge, epic arcs in Who, but a story like Midnight is one that, for better or worse, STAND OUTS from the rest, and not necessarily in a good way.

Even with the silent "Doctor! Doctor!" moment! :D

4/5 from me.
