View Full Version : Definitely an error in logic - kryptonite and the controlling device...

Why didn't Teague just, instead of killing Clark, keep kryptonite at the ready with some sort of message ready to be activated should Clark become under someones control? The message could contain the information that would stop evil Clark (kryptonite... that green stuff found in abundance around Smallville ;D).
Why, oh why, would he have to kill him? Kryptonite is the insurance policy.
I personally found this a huge plot hole....

Anyone have any reasons as to why Teague did what he did then?

Actually I was expecting that what Teague did would not kill Clark. When he said it was an ancient Kryptonian ceremony I thought that Clark would emerge as Kal-El or with a stronger sense of purpose.
Or that the kryptonite would make Clark appear dead when Lex tried to locate him so the device would not find anything - then Ed Teague would revive Clark.
I was surprised to find that Ed Teague did actually want to kill Clark. Kind of didn't really make any sense though as if it was written on the walls as a way to kill the traveller how was it expected that the Veritas members would be able to get the traveller onto the sacrificial table?? They couldn't have known about kryptonite back then to subdue Clark enough.

I wonder who made that table. Was it made by a Veritas member like Swann who learned how to read Kryptonian, or was it from Krypton and brought to Earth?
A lot still doesn't make sense. How would Teague know of ancient Kryptonian ceremonies? Jor-El didn't even tell Clark about that.

He did say that before Kryptonians Evolved into a race centered around science they were a warrior race.
To me this means the ritual was from that time period

Yeah I got that part - but the ritual wouldn't have included Kryptonite as Kryptonite wouldn't have existed in that period. Kyptonite only came into existence AFTER Krypton was destroyed. It may have been a sacrificial ritual on Krypton but how did the cave wall painters expect humans to sacrifice a kryptonian without any way of weakening the traveller??
It doesn't make sense
Even if the Kryptonite aspect was actually Ed Teague's idea it still leaves the question of how the cave painters expected the Traveller to be weakened enough for Veritas members to sacrifice him.

It was supposed to exist only after the destruction of Krypton, but I don't think that's the case. We know that whichever Kryptonian hid the stones placed relics containing kryptonite around all 3 of them. The relics were seen in Sacred (for the Air stone) and in Commencement in Lex's vault (for the Water, Fire, and Air stones). I think there was a way for them to manufacture kryptonite before Krypton's destruction.
But my question is, how did Ed Teague know of any such ritual? How was he privy to info that Jor-El never mentioned to Clark and wouldn't have mentioned to anyone?
I'm starting to think that he was visited by a Kryptonian. Maybe Zod or Zor-El.
The cave wall painters could have been told by the first Kryptonian who traveled to Earth (who I think if ever revealed will be Kem-El) in case an evil or out of control Kryptonian ever shows up. Or maybe it was supposed to be a test of endurance for Naman (to increase his resistance to kryptonite), but Ed Teague with his messed up mentality interpreted it the wrong way.

That makes sense maybe they took a peace of their home planet to Earth to do experiments on the Suns effects and durring their expiriments they somehow irradiated it thus forming Green K
By the way how have ya been Xray long time no talk?
