Didn't the guy in the limo say the clock was lost during the second world war? The members of veritas shoudn't have been alive, or at least old enough to hire him prior to WWII, maybe I misunderstood what this clock maker did? Also, was it Lionel who put that orb looking thing in the fire place mantle????

good catch. Unless the true Veritas society dates back longer than just Luthor's Rich Boys Club. Once they did say the secret of Veritas has been around for centuries.
I heard the watchmaker say it was in Swann's possession after the war, it's unclear whether or not Swann was the one who commissioned it in the first place, but it would make no sense if it wasn't.... or... I have no Effin Clue!

Well, my understanding is that the Veritas group existed for years, even before Lionel, the Queens, the Teagues, Dr. Swan. So in that way, it would make sense.

That was a bit confusing. Hopefully they will explain that eventually ;)

But was the orbe in the fireplace kryptonian technology? how the hell was that thing floating???? and holograms?? If it had the watchmaker's insignia, then it had to be human made... and a long time ago.... I don't really understand what that was.

it wasnt human made, from what i got of it. It was constructed by Jor-el in case Kal-el wasnt good for the humans to be able to control and defend themselves. the members of veritas hid it so it wouldnt fall into the wrong hands.

the veritas secret is like as old as the naman legend. goes back long long ago.
no the orb wasnt put there by lionel it was placed there by whoever hid the shield in the clock and made that thing.

Veritas just means "truth" in latin. And i can imagine the "secret society" existed for generations before luthor etc adopted the responsibility.

Actually, the Naman legend is about 100 years older. Gertrude was around in the 1600's while Naman came 500 years ago according to Joseph Willowbrook.
I'm hoping it was Kem-El from the comics who made that clock and who was the one who started the Kawatche cave legend. Having him would explain everything. It would bring the Kawatche cave prophecy full circle by explaining how all that was known. And it would make sense that he (from the 1500's) would have made an old clock and left it on Earth.
If the Eradicator is what can control Clark in the FOS, then this would be perfect. Kem-El is the inventor of the Eradicator, and hiding it on Earth (in the 3 stones) could have been done to prevent a Kryptonian from stealing it and ruling Krypton.

EDIT:
I'm certain the kryptograph & the clock were created by a Kryptonian since the expert Lex used said he's never seen anything like it (the kryptograph)--which usually means it's alien in nature.

The clock was made by a German watch maker named Dietrich Brauer. The antique guy said that after the clock disappeared during WWII, there was only one drawing left of the clock, and that the gears exactly matched those of the cryptograph. He had seen the drawing and recognized it. He knew the cryptograph was Brauer's work also because it had his mark on it, the same design as on the thing Lex found in the clock and on the fireplace. So then Brauer had to be around at least as long ago as the castle was built? Or did he remodel the fireplace mantle? Cripes, this is like that Rambaldi crap that I hated on Alias!
The antique guy said to Lex, when they were flying to Montreal, that "There was a rumor that Brauer was commissioned to make the clock by a secret society of wealthy patrons. You wouldn't know anything about that, would you?" And Lex said, "My father was one of them."
I'm not sure how old Lionel was supposed to be, but John Glover was born in 1944. So unless Lionel commissioned the clock as a baby shower present for his mother, it doesn't really hang together. Maybe Lionel was an immortal, like the Highlander.

Maybe Brauer was an identity/name used by a Kryptonian so that it appeared he was human.
The best explanation I could think of was that Kem-El (or whoever the 1st Kryptonian to visit Earth and tell the Kawatche about Naman & Sageeth was) left it on Earth. He knew about future events (Clark & Lex) as seen by the prophecy. I'm guessing he either time traveled or had a device that was able to see the future/past. He was around in the 1500's as revealed by Joseph Willowbrook (he said 500 years ago).
I wonder if he left it in the Luthor mansion (is it that old?) because he knew Lex was Sageeth and that leaving it there was a necessary step in Naman's destiny.
Whatever the device is (whether it's the orb or something in the FOS that the orb leads to), I'm almost sure it's the Eradicator. And in the comics, the Eradicator was created by Kem-El.
The greatest thing we can see now that they've introduced time travel on the show is Kem-El's period on Earth in Clark's era where he would learn about Clark & Lex and then go back to Earth in his own era (the 1500's) so he can visit the Kawatche. This would allow us to see the start of the legend and tie up everything with the clock, the orb, and possibly the Eradicator.
