View Full Version : Why not a hug?

I really loved Chloe saving Clark, but are they not allowed to hug or something? He didn't even look that happy... She had just flown all that way to save his life, but not even a "thank you"? It seems that (in Clark's sense) Chloe is only good for pep talks, but still he doesn't listen. Seems like Chlark has been very distant lately... :(
I mean he can tell Lois that "she's a good friend" but Chloe gets squat?

I think the contrary, that he was very relieved to see Chloe. He just had his chest carved, can't he get a moment to recoup?

That's so true, it seems like everytime Chloe and Jimmy are close, Chloe and Clark hardly show affection to each other

Didn't they hug last episode? Should every episode have a Chlark hug?

no it shouldn't. since he won't even give her a kiss.so forget about the hug imo. maybe they should come up with "I just saved your butt" handshake

I agree. But when Clark and Lana are actually going out, they can't even hug every epiosde.
I also agree with alienkinfolk. It's like when Clark saved Chloe in "Cure", she was traumatized so she didn't immediately hug Clark. Situation reversed now.

^^
So maybe not a hug but even a "thank-you" would have been fine. Or a smile... even the end scene it seems as if everything is forgotten, I guess I'm sick of the depressed Clark...

gotta agree. as much stuff as Chloe/Clark have been through over the past 7 years...you'd like to believe they would be a bit closer, whether there's ever a Chlark or not. I miss the 'ol investigative/ambitious but still in luv w/ Clark kinda Chloe.
No more pep talks!lol

they should do that, since chloe saves his butt so often.

I think it has gotten to the point where Chloe saves his butt so often that it comes as second nature to him and he doesn't even think she deserves thanks.

Clark gets affected by kryptonite all the time. Clark is always in trouble and there is always something going wrong. It's like Clark knew he would get saved in the mean time. I don't think they needed to hug again. They've hugged plenty of times.

I like how the explanation was Ollie's plane. But the JLA couldn't spare the time to save their pal? Even with a member as fast as Bart?
Hmm.

Thats what I thought too...he was healed but the blood was still there. I'm sure thats why they didnt hug. It would have been kind of gross.....

Seems like Oliver off screen moments are going to be used a lot to cover up the giant plot holes.

Thank you Andi. I felt exactly the same way.
Come on people! Clark just had his chest carved up and then healed. That didn't magically get rid of the blood all over his chest. Should he have smeared his blood all over Chloe? And really, he had a lot of other things to worry about. Like finding Edward and later inadvertantley seeing Lex and him fight. Anyway, Andi said it best, it would have been gross.
Don't get me wrong. I love Chloe. But I think Chloe is confident enough in her relationship with Clark to know that he appreciates her. He doesn't have to say it in every episode, she is a big girl.

Technically, shouldn't Clark's chest not have healed until he was exposed to sunlight?

Yea...I dont think it would have made a lot of sense. I mean, if Clark tried to hug Chloe...I'm sure she would have let him. But...did you SEE those wounds? They were just nasty...tons of blood. My first thought wouldnt be. "ok...clarks alright, time for some PDA...I hope that blood comes out of my top?" It was obvious they were both relieved without the hug. :)

Even without the blood, I think their relationship has sidestepped the hugging thing. We know that Chloe loves him (in what way, we haven't agreed about), but Clark seems beyond love and tenderness right now.
Almost Kryptonian

Plus, that was a really nice looking outfit Chloe was wearing. I wouldn't want to get blood on it either. Neither Chloe nor Clark made a move toward a hug. Seems like they both were OK with things.
I like the Chloe feels comfortable enough with Ollie and his band of merry soldiers to ask for and get the Queen jet. I don't see this as a plot hole. Just because the writers provide an off screen answer or explanation, why is there always the rush to crying "plothole"? It's not like this isn't done on every TV show or movie. If they included every possible explanation for every single thing that happens on screen, then TPTB would be spending all the screen time explaining and get little actual story telling done. I thought that considering the amount of story they tried to get into the episode, the amount of screen time they are giving MR before his departure, and the questions they were trying to leave the episode with I actually thought things went rather well during Quest. I prefer to see to good rather than search out and dwell on the bad. Polyana anyone?

Exactly! Too much blood for a hug and they weren't in the right position for a proper hug IMO. Clark was still sitting on that altar and Chloe was standing in front of it....not really a comfortable position for a nice hug, IMO.:)
