"Quest" - Best 19th Episode of the Series?

Season 2: "Precipice" - Clark must do community service and his family is slapped with a lawsuit after he roughs up men who hassled Lana.
Season 3: "Memoria" - Key events in Lex and Clark's respective histories come to the forefront when each - Lex willingly and Clark unwillingly - undergoes a risky Summerholt Institute memory-recovery treatment.
Season 4: "Blank" - Clark is zapped by a memory purge, and becomes prey to anyone who may try to pry information from him.
Season 5: "Mercy" - Lionel and Martha are trapped by a bizarre masked avenger and are subjected to his lethal series of survival games.
Season 6: "Nemesis" - Lex and Clark become trapped in a bomb- and Kryptonite-laden tunnel, and must work together to survive.
Season 7: "Quest" - Lex is attacked by a cloaked stranger who carves kryptonian symbols into his chest. Chloe and Clark investigate and discover one member of the Veritas clan has survived and is hiding in a church. Clark and Lex race to be the first to find this mysterious Veritas member, who holds the key to Clark’s survival.

Wow - this is beyond difficult to choose! You have set up a great list of episodes, in my opinion, all of them were impeccable & nothing short of exhilarating.

I have to say - tonight's Quest episode takes the cake for me. It was truly gripping and very good! The special effects were awesome with the kryptonian symbols carved into Lex's chest.

Although I voted for Quest, I have to say that Crush was also great - the ending scene was one of the best emotional moments in the show's run.

Nemesis was fantastic as well because it made Kristin Kreuk shine in her acting department. Very nice instance of strong character development, coupled in with wonderful special effects of the tunnel exploding into flames.

Very hard. I haven't seen Quest yet but apparently it's VERY good.
Memoria and Nemesis are incredible episodes. I'll wait and see tomorrow.

I see not too many people have voted yet. Well, I'll wait until after I've seen "Quest" to come back and vote my choice in the poll. However, the 19th episode seems to be when the writers Step Up Their Game near the end of each season. They are Great choices and it'll be difficult to choose if tonight's episode is as great and these were.

I did review these episodes in memory and I ranked them according to My Personal Favorites, 1 being the most favorite.

1. Nemesis - It was suspensful and emotionally charged and the interaction between Clark and Lex brought back so many memories of their friendship. I also actually FELT the Pull between Clark and Lana at the end, as well as Lana's 'Dilemma'.

2. Memoria - Lionel was on a mission to find a cure for his terminal illness and doing his best to prevent Lex from remembering anything about the crime that eventually landed him in prison, and he was the 'MB' in all his glory in that episode. It was also the first time I truly felt real sympathy for Lex. The final scene between Clark and Martha was also touching.

3. Blank - I was just thoroughly entertained by Chloe trying to help hide Clark's secret for him while she was also learning 'new' things about his abilities, too.

4. Mercy - I enjoyed the interaction between Martha and Lionel, especially Lionel's honesty toward Martha. The affection and respect he had for her was quite evident in that episode. The way Lionel handled Clark's 'reveal' was nice and unexpected.

5. Precipice - the 'villain' was effectively annoying and Clark was in a situation unlike any he'd been in before because of using his abilities and in the end had to thank Lana for helping him - for a change. It was also a landmark in Lex's and Lana's relationship when Lex helped Lana learn how to defend herself.

6. Crush - It was an interesting story because it helped fill in some backstory for Chloe and Clark and others they were friends with while working on the school newspaper... Adam Brody, who's well-known now, was the guest star, former classmate who returned, and he's a good-looking young man, but I can't stand his voice. That took away points for the episode for me. It may not be fair, but hey, it's "IMO". : )

So, I'm really looking forward to seeing "Quest". It's got a lot to live up to for a 19th episode.

i doubt that quest is going to beat Memoria, Nemesis or Blank for me... they are in my top ten episodes of all Smallville

I won't say anything until I see Quest tonight- but Nemesis and Memoria were so good. I just watched Memoria like an hour ago. :lol: Third time, and still just as good.

I would put Memoria #1, because of the great manipulation that Lionel is pulling, and the backstory of Lex. It was also interesting to see Smallville's interpretation of Kal-El's escape from Krypton. All around, it was just amazing!

Nemesis was also fabulous. I loved how it introduced the 33.1 prototype storyline addressed two episodes letter, and illuminated on a piece of goodness left in Lex, and revealed that Lana was conflicted again. My favorite episode of the season after Justice and Phantom. Well, it may be just as good as Phantom. :lol:

Blank is also very memorable. It was interesting to see that it was Chloe who tells Clark who he is, when all this time it was anticipated that it would be the other way around.

Was Justin from episode 1.19 really the guy who played the Luthor bodyguard Brody in Trespass?

Yeah I had to go with Memoria. There are few (if any) episodes that match up/pass that episode. Quest was good for a season 7 episode, but unless a miracle happens, I don't ever expect to see an episode that will live up to Memoria standards. Not since Season 5 ended.

This was a great episode but it didn’t come close to Memoria. That one’s my second favorite of the series. I really did love that whole episode from beginning to end, especially the end. Here’s my list of favorites:

I also loved the writing back then. Not only did they weave the stories nicely so that it all came together in the finale, but they didn't contradict prior established mythos (except for Chloe's history of course).

yeah, so true. Season 3 is the best of all the seasons of Smallville, IMO! :)

I loved season 3, but I loved season 2 the best for introducing all these elements. Season 2 was a very innovative season with introductions to:

-Kawatche caves & the legend of Naman & Sageeth
-red-k
-Jor-El
-the Rush parasites
-Lucas Luthor
-Lionel's interest in Clark (thanks to Dr. Hamilton showing him Clark's ship)
-Dr. Swann
-Jonathan's hatred of Lionel

Every few episodes, we'd get an entirely new, groundbreaking addition to the show that made it so interesting.

There were some scenes I loved in Quest though. My favorite scenes were the ones with Lex near the end:

1. The one where Lex inserts the kryptograph in the clock. That Scottish folk song melody that played was awesome!!

2. The final scene with Lex finding the orb/globe. It was very interesting finally seeing Lex be the successful one who unites scattered bits of Kryptonian technology together.

But yeah even I had to think twice. Usually on these 'which of these episodes was the best' polls I doesn't even take me two seconds to decide. In this case I had to actually think about it. But in the end Memoria will always be one of my favorites.

I do not understand why so many people liked Blank. That was the SECOND time that season they played the Clark-amnesia card. Personally I thought that idea was tired. Quest is one of the best episodes in the series in my opinion. That episode has my vote.

I liked Blank. It was different than Crusade because in that instance Clark was really more 'reprogrammed' than anything else. In Blank he was still Clark with all the personality but without the memories to influence him.

That being said... Memoria was the best overall.

I have to pick Quest, with its great soundtrack and its submersion into the DaVinci Code-like Veritas/Kawachi/Traveler symbolism. Loved that episode.
But if Season Eight were included in the poll, I would have to choose Stiletto, the reasons being:

the great soundtrack,
its comic-book imagery (a drainpipe wrapped around a knocked-out thug, glowing Kryptonite money, Lois' sexy squeeky PVC costume),
its George Kastanza-like logic (Lois can't get the attention of the Blur so she adopts a new superhero persona hoping to get his attention that way), and
the new level reached in the Lois & Clark relationship.

Way cool.
