View Full Version : Clark's reactions to Lana and Chloe in the other universe....spoiler

It seemed to me that Clark seemed more upset when he ran into Chloe and found out that she was engaged to be married than he did when he found out that Lana was married and living in Paris.
He was like, I just want her to be happy, but he wasn't a bit sad or disappointed like he was about seeing Chloe with another man she really seemed to love.
I'm not complaining, I loved it :):)
Anyone else notice that?

He was happy that Lana was alive.
He was upset that Chloe couldnt help him find Lana.

He seemed more upset because he feels his presence is holding Chloe back from finding true happiness with someone she loves and is engaged to...at least that's what it felt like to me...Who knows really?

I think if Clark seemed "less happy" when he found out about Chloe, it's because he cares more about Lana in terms of being happy.
Clark has put Chloe through a lot of crap, I know. But Clark and Lana have gone through more than their share of pain with each other. I think Clark was more concerned with Lana being happy because, if you truly love someone, that's ALL you want for them. He has talked A LOT in the show about "I just want Lana to be happy".
It could also be that Clark seems to consider Lana "dead" right now. When he was talking to Jimmy, he kept mentioning he wanted to know if Lana was alright - meaning alive. Chloe's happy and engaged, sure, but Lana is actually alive - which is definately more important to him.
I think he seemed more disappointed that Chloe wouldn't help him track down Lana than anything.

I seems to me that he was disappointed in Chloe for her selfishness for not helping to find Lana.

I don't think it was selfish of her not to find Lana. After all, she and Clark didn't know each other and she and Lana weren't exactly friends either. If you get approached by a stranger off the street who claims to have gone to school with you and asks you about a person you haven't seen in ten years, you gonna drop everything to help them? C'mon now.

they're happy so he's happy
he's not jealous or sad that lana has found someone, he's happy meaning in the real world he'll probably find it a lot easier letting Lana go.
all the while as the series draws to a close, he's getting "oddly" drawn to Lois lane
he must realize she has some part to play in his destiny after running into her like that and her being all....attracted to him and single and what not.
as the only one of the 3 women in his life who's not happily married due to his absence is Lois lane..is he gona realize this? HAS he?
Also love how he finds out Lana is happy and leaves it at that happy and content then turns around ***KABLAMO**** Lois Lane runs right into him..hint hint, Its totally saying "Ok lana is fine i'll move on..hello LOIS"

Yea, that would just be ridiculous. I think the point was, it's a wakeup call for Clark. You cant always expect Chloe to drop what she's doing to help you....especially in an AU when she doesnt even know you exist! I mean, did he really think she was going to take one look at him...and be like "Ok, hot strange man! I'll just walk away from my fiance' here and help you out! "
This is a response to what Jade said! :)

"Hmmm...hot strange man I could walk away with now and kill the rest of the afternoon trying to track down someone I never cared much about the first time around? Or hot fiancee I could go home and pounce right now?"
Not exactly a tough call is all I'm saying. ;)

Exactly!
Sorry Clark...but she has a hot fiance' who unlike you (at this point at least) wants to help save the world. It's really a no brainer.:p

He seemed more relieved about Lana than anything else....
Clark looked extremely happy to see CHloe, perhaps because she was the first person he ran into that he knew.
When he saw she had a boyfriend and was engaged to be married, I got the impression by Clark's expression that he was thinking:
"Wow, Chloe, I thought you weren't the marrying type, just married to your job and being my sidekick. What a surprise. I mean you seem to blow Jimmy off all the time, and just like to keep him around for fun. Yet here you are about to get married and happy as can be! It makes me wonder....."
And maybe Clark will also wonder now that since the meteor shower still happened and there were still meteor freaks, that meant Chloe was one in the AU too, and yet she had no problem being completely happy and in a serious relationship with a great guy she was in love with.....

I think Clark used his common sense when he saw Chloe. When he talked to Chloe and found out that she was drawing a few blanks when he brought his name up, then he realized that she had priorities. In the real world, Chloe blows off Jimmy because she's helping Clark out. So if Clark isn't in the AU (or at least doesn't exist), then there really isn't any reason for Chloe not to try to pursue a relationship.

I know...most of you will look at my avi and then roll your eyes when you hear what I have to say. But Clark did seem a bit disappointed when he found out Chloe was engaged. To me....it was the first episode of season 6 all over again. Like when he first met Jimmy. I really think clark was happy that Chloe was so happy. I have no doubt about that. But you can tell when he says "I'm happy for you Chloe" there is no smile on his face. He is happy that she is able to find someone, but I think a larger part of him is sad that her life seemed perfectly fine without him.
To me, this scene showed that Clark could still possess those feelings he had at the beginning of last season. He just cant let Chloe go.
Ok....go ahead and criticize...I can take it. ;)

I agree 100%. And IMO, it's like that most people that other's hold close. You want them to be happy in life and when they achieve that happiness, you should be happy for them too. But there may still be that part of you that still misses the times that you were with them.
I think that it was perfectly acceptable for Clark to make that face while still saying that.

I'm just hoping it was a little more then that. But if not...it's still nice to see how much Clark cares about Chloe as a friend.

I agree. This whole idea of not saving his baby self was motivated by his belief that Lana would be better off not having met him. So his joy at seeing that Lana's life was great was appropriate.
With Chloe I think he was really happy about Chloe's happiness but... a little disappointed that he was out of a sidekick. I think he was more happy than disappointed though and was maybe realizing for the first time, how much he held her back in terms of living her own life.

BUT in this AU CHloe dissed Jimmy for the hero-type. (of the Metropolis Police Dept., wearing an emblem on his chest that very much resembled the "S" crest, with an American Flag propped behind him. He even had to run off and leave her for a sec, and she said "OK. I'll be waiting for you." ) I think that set a few cogs going in Clark's head.

Clark is used to Chloe's devotion and the AU Chloe certainly didn't give him that. I found that interesting because I think Clark knows that Chloe would take him in a second if he wanted her. By being engaged, he loses his back-up girl. I thought he was taken aback for a minute, but genuinely happy for Chloe, after all, he hasn't been there.

'Chloogle is broken? Shake it!'
I'm sorry, but that seemed to be the first reaction. After the Lana obsession phase lessened and he could hear words and process input like a normal, non obsessed stalker- he dd seem disappointed that Chloe had a life separate from being his main researcher, best friend, and girl kept in his back pocket.
Go AU Chloe.

:Dcome on!, the truth is that Clark looked happy when he saw Chloe engaded and happily in love with her cute fiance, the same that all the crap about Lana, as soon as he knew she was hapilly married and living in France, he felt good and he looked fine, if he was upset, then he would have wasted his time runing to France for meeting Lana, but he didn´t, because ovbiously there were more important things to take care of, like his future true love: Lois for example, he stayed in Metropolis to rescue Lois and help her to defeat Lex´s nuclear bombs.:D

Let's face it, in the AU, the person that ClarkMan did NOT seek out to see if they were safe and happy was lois, because she is and has been nowhere on his radar screen and he knows exactly the kind of person she is in the real universe; someone who was envious of a previous boyfriend's superhero destiny versus her own.
ClarkMan was relieved that Lana was alive and well and happy for her being happily married with a family, but he was stunned that Chloe had found someone to love and marry in the alternate universe. Once he realized the reality of that situation, ClarkMan (being a person of class) truly wished Chloe well.
lois? She all but dropped her trou. for the newest hunk on the block, probably because she was a failure in her own personal luv life.
I think there may have been something going on in his head that Chloe was happier with him gone, so while he had figured to begin with that the world would be better without him he was a bit sad that it looked like he was right.
