Yup, I saw it. Just before the dancing scene.
Had a good time laughing at it!

We learned about this recently in marketing class, turns out maybe it makes the person turn against the product, the gentlemen put it simply: People like crap. We have TV crap. We have product crap. Separate we have accepted in terms of commericals, but do not mix the two (prodcut crap into TV crap)

Oh yeah, and I always notice the back side computer monitors...when you see DELL prominently displayed...can it be any more obvious?
Would Chloe REALLY say, "....here, take my Yaris"??????

I noticed it too.

I noticed it right away. It was alot more obvious than the stride gum stand you could see in in the cafe where Kara worked in "Fracture" when Clark walked through that door of Lex's mind

I didn't think this episode was so bad, at least Jimmy's car was just resprayed after the door was ripped off, instead of being replaced with a sleek, sporty, and fuel efficient Toyota Corolla SE.

Yeah I saw that too. LOL! Next they'll have Clark drinking Smart Water to gain his knowledge of learning how to fly. :D

I'm so glad I live in Australia - Stride gum hasn't found it's way over here yet so the product placement means nothing.
On the other hand I realise that I didn't want a Yaris until Chloe got one in Smallville.. (not that I actually did get one, because I didn't; I was smart enough to stick to my Camira)

I can't say I noticed the Stride gum. I can't believe I am the only one who noticed Chloe's blatant mention of Intel in her sentence about hacking into government systems.

The Dell XPS on Lex's desk was pretty obvious too.

That Dell XPS looked pretty sweet.
The Strideville strikes again! I don't have a hard time equating this episode with Hero, both in relevance and in worth.

i'm happy with the prodcut placement still being around, as long as the gum storyline dissapears... it's the lesser of two evils

I saw the gum, but what's funny is that Stride gum (my new favorite gum now, thanks to Smallville!), had been on the show even before the episode "Hero" premiered! I was watching the rerun of "Siren" and as Miss Canary lady is looking through Chloe's desk, there is a yellow package of Stride gum by Chloe's cell phone. I guess the only reason people really notice the gum now is because of "Hero," because I sure wouldn't have thought twice about that pack of gum had I never seen One Republic performing at the Stride factory.

I sure saw it! I watch SV every Thurs. with a group of people. We all just looked at each other and sighed rolling our eyes in disbelief.

I have one. And I do. When you have a yaris, saying "car" just loses its appeal.
I always refer to my car as "my yaris."
"Let's take my Yaris!"
"Oh, I left that book in my Yaris"
"My Yaris is almost out of gas."
thankfully, I don't have to say that last one too often.

now that's interesting. I remember learning something like that back in high school (a new study had come out saying that repeated exposure to a product tends to actually make people turn against it because the connect with it with being 'bombarded' with it and hence
connect it with the annoyance they feel).
Someone needs to let Smallville (and by extension The CW (Gossip Girl ads run every 3 seconds, anyone?) know about this. ;)

Not only does over exposer to product placement make me hate products, but stupid commercials do to. When a commercial is so stupid that it makes me want to hit the person who made it repeatedly, I really don't want to buy the product from people who thought that commercial was worthy.

Oh yeah, I noticed it! I thought "Boy, Stride gum must be underwriting the SV budget in a BIG way. Product placement that heavy and constant is NOT cheap for the advertiser.

At least Jimmy didn't use the gum as a weapon.

Ok, now I have a mental picture of Jimmy a la Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible (the original) shouting "Red light! Green Light!"

Chloe should have used some Stride to stick the Veritas key under her desk drawer, instead of in it.

Promoting sticking ones gum under furniture my be bad for sales, much worse than radioactive sludge flowing through your factory.

Brilliant idea!!! Then Clark could have used his superbreath to freeze it while Chloe gave an explanation of how using ice to freeze gum is the best way to remove it from anything.
Educational, politically correct and entertaining all at the same time!!! You should be a writer.

these product placement spots are really getting on my nerves. the first one i noticed was in season 6 when in one episode clark all of a sudden had a brand new toyota tundra. where did he get it? they've always had older trucks and then he got a brand new one. then i never saw it again.
but on the stride subject, does anyone remember in the truman show with jim carrey he is in the kitchen with his wife and she is getting ready for work and talking about this coffee that came from columbia and he says 'who the hell are you talking to'? yeah well that how i felt when chloe says about the factory being shut down 'well maybe they shouldn't have made the flavor last so long.' for one i'm tired of those commercials as it is but then to add it into my favorite show... i wanted to say who the hell are you talking to...
and as i watch and something like that, or her yaris, comes up it reminds me i am watching tv. the reason i watch it is because i get sucked into the show and then something like that comes up and i come out of it.
